    I was stunned for a second because i was thinking that humanity is the curator race from the future, which is why they "left themselves alone" as to not alter history

      Yes, I was thinking we were the curators from the start of this series. It's still possible of course.

      @@retrozmachine1189 Slight spoiler: There is no time travel in the Curators. That would have been a bit much after what the fold drive does to the, um, suggestions of thermodynamics :-)

    A joy to listen to. Well written, with a coherent story line. On my worst day I could do better then most of the AI trash available out there, but this is actual skill. I look forward to experiencing more of this authors work. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

    well from what's written to what's brewed in SciFi's pot for artwork is always interesting to see how it comes together 👍

    Cool story and I hope you intent to carry it on. Having checked LocalRoger's site, I can see there's plenty more available and is a complete story.
    With the plane named Grasshopper, I can't help but picture the Ambassador as a young David Carradine from the series Kung Fu.

    Lol, the nanite image looks like a cross between a machine and a corona viral unit. Good image to represent a nanite as any. Art imitating life. This is a good series, does a bit of education along with entertainment.
    AHA, so I knew it they got weary of Human aggressiveness and decided to stop "helping", however I was wrong on them having dome some "weeding" in the past 100k years, but they did mention they would do it if humans got out of hand. Such good writing.
    When the main character and the pilot were going on the naming of their ship and I heard it was green, I knew what name the good Doctor would do. Nice touch on the naming, the Doctor and M the pilot, The Doctor and The Master... lol. I love all the Easter eggs in this writing and little winks to the well cultured nerd. The Curator outfit was so freaking fitting. Again such enjoyable tale, it has me giddy.

    • @localroger
      @localroger 3 дня назад +1

      Just ignore my description of what a nanite looks like, the illustration is much nicer.

    • @stratometal
      @stratometal 3 дня назад

      @@localroger Your description is good, from a mechanical standpoint it sounds grounded and realistic, I like it.
      The image has pizzazz though! And its AI generated, which adds an element of eeriness. One could think AI would know stuff about nanites regular people wouldn't. Here I go putting the tinfoil hat on... 🤣
      In all seriousness the story has me riveted, all the little Easter eggs and allusions to a lot of other sci-fi literary works. Everytime I catch one I go AHA like that Leo DiCaprio meme.
      Keep it up.

  • @trrpettus

    About the narrator, Why does this sound like Ewing McGregor, Obi Wan? Can AI be made to sound like a living human? Is that right? The story is great, as is Black Ship.

    • @localroger
      @localroger 3 дня назад

      Considering the volume of output this channel produces, I'm very pleased with the narration. There are about five different versions of my MOPI novel out three at different levels of quality, and I've come to appreciate that even automated narration is an art. It can be made so completely natural it's very hard to tell from real human speech, but there is a point of diminishing returns where the amount of work a human has to put into it telling the autoreader what to do gets so detailed it's easier just to read the damn thing. Somewhere there is a work in progress markup version of the novel annotated to tell the reader which character is speaking, where there should be pauses, what emotional tone to use, and so on, and it's obviously a real pain in the posterior to do right.
