    I just started using 3d programs and had sketch up. I saw this video and got the program about two days ago and am blown away by how easy and intuitive it is. it is amazing and even runs well on my shi**y hp pavillion. Im not even sleeping properly because I cant pull myself away from my computer. Thanks for posting.

    Your videos are amazing! I believe that the majority of the casual users of solidworks don't really know it full capabilities! Knowing surfaces,welding,molding really well, you can design pretty much everything!

    Holy smokes that was made fast! Thought it would take a lot more time since I have 4 years of high school experience with Autodesk Inventor and a year of college with Solidworks. Love to learn these tricks man, props to you!

    This is an amazing vid. The Freeform tool is not easy to use. You made that look easy. Thanks for the upload. Added to my favorites. Wonderful job on the handle. It looked gorgeous.

    @itsbigdan Yes, you can thicken a surface to become a solid, or knit surfaces together to create an enclosed volume which can be made solid. You can go the other way as well, delete a face to create a surface from a solid.

    Press "add curve" button to change the curature near the edge, that is to say add extra curve to depress the peak.

    Very nice, and quick work, you make. I have a question however. When you used the boundary feature to make the tail of the handle, it was initially done in a round state. The screen then jumps to a more completed model, how was it that you ovaled the tail out? Or was it a matter of going back and using an oval sketch instead of a circle to start off with?

    awesome work! What I am interested in a knurling a complex surface shape, or like you have just designed a non uniform cylinder.

    I need to set a common thickness to two Extrusions. In User’s Guide (SolidWorks 2007) it says:
    1. In a part .., create a parameter compatible with the field to be linked.
    2. Start the associated PropertyManager or the dialog box.
    3. From the drop-down menu of the value field that you want to link to a parameter, select Link Value.
    The Parameters list box appears.
    I cannot find how to “In a part .., create a parameter”.

    Is there free version of Solidworks, like for students or something?

  • @TriMechGroup
    @TriMechGroup  13 лет назад

    @daniuz81 Sketches become hidden after you use them to create a feature, all you need to do is expand the feature and right click on the sketch and choose Show (spectacles icon).

  • @TriMechGroup

    @tjeppi start a new sketch, go to Tools > Sketch Tools > Sketch Picture. Browse for any image type you like...away you go...

    Thank's a lot for this tutorial.. But I'm having a problem with the scan (jpeg, png..) in my sketch.. After I created the sweep, my scan becomes not visible (it 's like it is hided.. in fact it appears when i highlight the sweep function I've created on the feature manager) and so I can't use it for reference while using the Freeform function.. Can you please help me?

    How did you import your scan? I'm trying to do this for weeks now... I scanned my design, converted it to dxf with wintopo, but what do i need to do next? I tried to import the dxf file in solidworks, but I never get to see the design in the preview so obviously something is going wrong. Can you please help me out on this one:D I appreciate it.

    Whaaat, solid works can do cv hulling and make organic forms that easily?! Why did I ever even bother with Alias...

    • @jhijhi85
      @jhijhi85 9 лет назад

      +Hpunch Alias would support G3 curvature, while SolidWorks wouldn't ;)
