Troy is great at playing on emotions and cultivating competitive spirit; Skid makes gameplay light and fun while keeping the drama believable and Joe is great at making an intensely dramatic story. Such a great team. Personally, I would love to play in a Joe GM'd game.
I am really enjoying watching Skid's face while Joe is describing the locations and settings. It's great watching someone who obviously loves the Alien universe get to play this amazing game.
Ohhh, jeez, Grant. I'm a cyclist myself and have taken some nasty spills without getting any major injury, but I can just imagine how rough it was. Speedy recovery. Watch those trees man.
I thought he was a motorcyclist, how the hell do you do that on a little kids bicycle at speeds under 80?! I've literally come off at 160 kph and walked away with significantly less harm than this dude on his tricycle!
@@matthewhopkins7042 Bodily hit a tree and see what sort of shape you're in afterward. It also depends on how you land. He went over the bars; that's literally the worst thing for a cyclist as it's a head injury, facial injury, or upper body injury, like a broken collarbone or, in Grant's case, humerus. Grant's also a big guy, over 6'3". That's a lot of mass. F=mv is a b***h. You don't need a lot of speed to acquire a lot of force, and bones don't have a lot of shear resistance; something as little as 5 lbs can snap a bone.
Hearing Joe talking about his fear around flashlights, knowing that months later he decided to start streaming Dead Space, which is lit almost entirely by flashlight 😅
Super fun episode 🥰 Joe is a great GM - Loving this Aliens series - Ty ty all of ya 🥰 The Panic rules for this are amazing but wow can be so killer 🥰🤣 OMG - The look on Skids face when the creatures showed up - Awesome 🥰
Why is no one talking about Kate Stamas using Bishop meets Sherlock Holmes level deduction skills reading those ship logs? Even for a person who codes for a living, that was super impressive!
Man, I'm glad you're ok Grant! I fell off a cliff drunk in my early twenties (about a decade ago now) and exploded the anterior cruciate ligament in my right knee to such a point there was nothing left. Most painful experience ever, but I just made jokes and laughed to get myself through the pain. On the plus side, the beer was ok. When I landed it was still in my hand when I couldn't get up, so I just carried on drinking until my friends picked me up and took me home. I woke up the next day with blood and beer all over my bed, went to hospital like 3 days later to see the extent of the damage, was out clubbing a week and a half after that and the Nurse and Surgeon laughed because they said "you shouldn't even be able to stand, but you're jumping all over the place". Anyway, I'm from the UK and the NHS paid for me to have it done privately and the last thing I said as I was going into the operating theatre was "I watched the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street last night, so if I don't wake up it's because Freddy got me", then I was out like a light lol.
you didn't give Liam a chance to block, but otherwise JOE's descriptions and reactions to what he's saying totally rocked, its like watching a movie and you feel your heart rate increase.
Yes! All homebrew from scratch. It was a 3-person team that put the story together: Joe, McD, and friend of the show Matt Jones. Loved this story and hope to do more ALIEN homebrewing in the future!
Joe makes for a great DM. Troy is obviously an incredible DM and Skid in the Azlant is also great, so good to have so many great storytellers on the cast. I haven't gotten round to see much of Matt or Grant DM but Joe really has a good tone of voice for it when he plays it straight.
I plan on doing Chariot of the Gods for my group, our first session that will be outside of the regular DnD 5e Rules, (currently doing Curse of Strahd), so this is great to kind of get an idea of pacing and how to manage events etc.
I wasn't sure how combat would go from reading the manual, but it sounds like it captures the proper intensity and franticness (??) needed for the mood.
Great episode! I was surprised that Joe didn't hit the players with more stress when they first encountered the creatures on the train, but still incredible scenario and roleplaying!
I know your pain guys! I got totalled in a car wreck in 2007. Lower leg broken in six places, sticking out in two, upper thigh snapped in half and sticking 3" out of my leg, sixteen other smaller breaks and fractures including the knee and hipjoint and base of the spine, ribs, et al . ;) They shot me up even before I got to the hospital, thankfully, the medic told me it was basically moose tranquillizer. *lol*
The weapons’ bonus is added to the dice 🎲 pool. For example, the .357 Magnum has a bonus of +1. So to make an attack roll, the dice 🎲 pool is: Agility + Ranged Combat + 1 + misc modifiers.
Ref. 1:10:40 Kate should have gone down two and Grant by one. (Core Book p.34 - 'For every [face hugger] rolled, the Supply rating is decreased by one.) Did you guys forget about Pushing your rolls (p.60)? This would, of course, have added to the stress levels.
I get nervous just playing a regular game of Pathfinder, I cannot imagine being a player in these circumstances. But man does it make for an excellent show.
Fantastic. I'm new to the GCN and was wondering if I can listen to this Alien series on Apple podcasts. I found your stuff there but couldn't find this one. Regardless, great stuff! Looking forward to exploring your stuff.
A bit late to the party, but really enjoying this. Just wondering, the images of the computer’s unread messages (green font on dark green background) … are they from the RPG book?
I got the impression Joe made them because he said he didn't make a screen for a certain part because he wasn't sure which way they were going to approach the situation or something like that.

$1200 taxi to the hospital... you poor Americans. I'm glad I live in a country that just waives that sort of expense. EDIT: OMG i literally just covered my mouth in horror at Grant's thought that he could do a "Mel Gibson". So glad he went on to say the rest of that.
I do have to complain about the lack of all the guys locker rooms scenes changing into space suits and out of them and taking the mandatory decon showers! But I forgive you all given time limitations ;-)

Grant, wishing you a full recovery without issue!
I'm only halfway through the episode, but am _really_ impressed at the GM's ability to build and maintain tension. Nicely done!

Yeah he's clearly the most invested
Again thank you Joe and All, quite enjoyed !

Troy is playing a convincing Paul Rieser. He's a very neurotic metropolitan Jewish man and his mannerisms really come across during the game.

This was explained in the first episode. It's an acronym for "life viable."
Yeah LV is a designation for a planet that has potential of supporting life
