I thought of an “export” function as a way to record multiple takes, in case you want to do some comping later on a daw. For example, You’d record a take into track 2, export that track, clear, record another take… etc. Is there some method to do multiple takes/versions on the same track?. (Without having to move the track to a new one).
Not on the Model series, the DP 24 and 32 have the ability to keep multiple takes on tracks. That is a good idea though, I've done that before where I'll export tracks for safe keeping if I decide to go back and use them again.
@@tahiche. Exporting is a little different, either put the SD card into your computer or use the storage mode setting (USB to computer). Go into the MTR directory, then into the song you want to export. Use copy and paste on the tracks you want to put on the computer. It is a much easier system because the WAV file for the track is the entire track where as on the DP24/32 it may get split up where you need to use an export system to create the proper wave file.
@@MikeFoerster ouch, that´s actually not good news!. Imagine you´re doing 3 runs of a guitar track and you have to stop each time to deal with sd card or put the unit into storage mode... complete vibe killer!. Something like a "clear trak but keep file" would do the trick. Guess it´s one of those things where you can´t imagine why it´s not there and why everyone else is not demanding it ;)
Compression will print to the track. It's prefader and has a 6 to 1 ratio. Knob is for threshold. Eq will not. Aux 3 efx will not. I've bounced from the master back to a track and that will print it all unlike bouncing with sub monitor
That is an interesting question. I looked it up in the Control Mode document that Tascam made for the system just to make sure, but no it doesn't work for Audacity. Audacity is more of a sound editor than a DAW. You can have multiple tracks on Audacity, but you are still modifying them through an editor where as a DAW works more like a mixer allowing you to use external devices or plug ins.
I do wish you could transfer tracks to daw by usb and pressing play(not stems).. You can do the opposite and record to mtr from project in daw if you'r daw is routed correctly
The Model 12 has had a major firmware update working with DAWs, but at the moment, no, you'll have to import your recordings from the Model series to the DAW. I personally hate DAWs so I'll still be using my Model 24 when I'm doing the mixdowns.
So it is possible to import a whole project into a DAW edit and add plugins. Then reroute the tracks back into the model 24 and have those changes follow it? So the final mix will be done on the 24 but editing and adding plugins will be done in the DAW
Good show !
I was wondering if you could tell me what to do about my tascam digital recorder model number 788 when I go to play back I don't get any sound?
I'd love to help, but I've never owned one of those.
@@MikeFoerster thanks anyway

@@MikeFoerster can you export tracks from the Model series?. I thought you could only export the main output. 🙏

@@tahiche. The other option is to switch tracks each time you finish a track. That way you don't kill the vibe.
Will eq and comp done on the tracks on the board follow it to the daw also?

Unless you recorded your track with those settings on then no. It won't get transferred. It only transfer what has been recorded.
does the model 12 control audacity??

Just wondering what cards you are using in the 24 ? and can it handle 48/24 with all tracks or are there problems thanks you !
I've been using 128G SanDisk SDHC cards. I haven't had a problem with them.

@@redhouseoutfitters That's a good question. I'll have to make a video on it. I'll try to have it done for this Thursday.
