RWD, 5-Speed, Indy Suspension, and Discs all around!?! The M30 is only a few mods away from being an amazing and attainable daily driver. What would you do to it?
I have seen about 3 in my life on the road not including my old one. Very very VERY rare cars in the modern era. For one year I believe it was 91 there were only over 2000 made. Hard to find them now!
@@mrkzj2 oh cool, that must have been the convertibles, I know on F31 club back when it was up a guy got a letter from someone in the company stating that there were over 2000 made in one year. It was a full letter and pretty cool but I never knew the total was 30,000.
I was all set to buy a 1992 Coupe back in the day. When I went to test drive the car, I found that the seat didn't go far enough back for me to fit in it. I'm only 5'10". Never had this problem in any other car. Ended up buying a 1992 Maxima SE.
Actually, at 2:54, the finger, changes the dial in the middle of Eddie’s guitar solo, then the finger brings us back to 101.1, and thus VH, in its fractional entirety.
The Nissan Leopard Infiniti M30 hardtop and convertible were the coolest cars in the 90s era, it kind of almost look like a convertible and hardtop Nissan Silva, 180 SX, 240 SX hatchback and notchback. 90's cars were great especially foreign and domestic in that time frame.
In the movie “three kings” saddam has one of these saved in a hidden bunker with gold. Ice cubes character spots it instantly and expresses much love for the “infinity convertable” ive fallen in love with it and the nissan leopard because of ice cubes few words in the movie ha ha ha.
When Nissan WAS Nissan, they constantly toyed with inventions like this. I also remember their work with Bose on developing suspension systems on the Q45.

@@BoostedPastime Cool thing was they were RWD when most cars available then were front { except for the Q45's & Lexus LS 400's etc . } this car floated quite a bit as you can tell from the video, the coupe felt much better, I doubt there were many cars that lost so much resell value, these weren't cheap when new.. 👍
@@Scalihoo Oh yeah I KNOW haha, I used to slide it around in wet parking lots after work and it handled like a dream. IT was so much fun. But yes it did handle like a bit of a boat. Compared to a civic hatchback it was horrible but the RWD days man, those sweet sweet RWD days.
Florida Scot They could’ve modernized these to prepare for the great launch of the SC300/400 in 1992 and it may have went upscale and sold well. This car phased and the J30 showed up not too long after, but I am glad they both share components with the 300zx
@@jayda1k_ Yeah man no doubt, I really liked the J , RWD also had the Z motor, came with the wood dash which was an extra for the Q. The J was pretty quick & loved the handling.they had a color called bamboo mist that was beautiful in person. But the first generation Q was a great car, 4.5 liter aluminum block, I drove them all over it was a pisser I was young :) WE flogged them pretty good ..
Sam E. Shelfo - ASC made A LOT OF CONVERTIBLE CONVERSIONS in the '80s and '90s, like the Toyota Celica And the Nissan 200SX, even into the Aughts BEFORE getting hooked with McLaren . I do believe even made the Mustang Foxes for a while before Ford took the work in-house.
Kevin Wong - I KNEW ASC made some Fox Mustang convertible conversions before Ford took it in-house, what I didn't totally knew was the cutoff date, THANKS!
Bought one like the one shown for my wife in 92. Very rare. I was told there were only a little more than 3000 conversions made in the three year span of the car. With the exception of plastic rear window and the lack of cup holders it was a nice car. Probably the only car I owned that I wish I had held on to.
My first car that I bought in 2014 was a '92 M30 convertible in pearl white, 3rd owner. Only one I've ever seen, and my dad has only seen 1 other, and that was when he was on vacation in Florida. I wish I coulda kept it, but just bought my 2nd car, brand new, this past October, and living in an apartment with very limited parking, it was either leave it exposed to the elements and neighbor children, in front of my garage, and block my new car, or leave my brand new car exposed. And the kids here will bounce balls off cars, climb over them to play tag, or in one case that happened to a neighbor, watched a kid ride a bicycle into her car with her, and the kid's parents watching, the parents didn't even acknowledge it.

I know it's "just a Nissan Leopard." But this is one of my all-time favorite Infiniti cars. It's a 1980s rear drive executive coupe that somehow made it here because convertibles were still popular, like the LeBaron. This was so much better than the Cutlass Supreme and LeBaron.
I like these cars too (I wouldn't go so far as to call it my all-time favorite Infiniti though). But why the SOHC V6 when the JDM Leopard had DOHC VG-series motors, and even a 255-horsepower turbo variant?
Loving the shade that John throws with the "near luxury" comment and comparison to the Celica & Shadow--like anyone was cross-shopping those cars! The comparison to the Cutlass was spot-on.Except for the snazzy paint job, mid 1980s Maserati-esque seats (but not the rest of the interior), and the dealer experience (compared to Nissan), this isn't a luxury vehicle.That said, I thought these were very pretty when they came out.
Bought a '92 M30 convertible in the same color as my first car in 2014. Got it practically brand new with just under 50k miles as the 3rd owner. Was a great car, but finally decided to sell it this past October and get a brand new vehicle. If I coulda kept it I would, but it was a year older than me, and I wanted something new, and more capable.

My parents bought a ‘95 in 1997. They junked it in 2004 after the second head gasket failed and the transmission started slipping. I haven’t seen a 1st gen in years. (Rust belt)
Ah, the F31 Nissan Leopard. Available in Japan with the old Z31 SOHC 3.0 Turbo V6 and/or the 2.0 liter DOHC and SOHC turbo V6s both available with a 5 spd manual. Here in the states they were kind of boring but cool and rare just the same!
My girlfriend's father purchased this car in a dark red back when it was new, and still has it garaged in like new condition with only 64k miles on it. He has been trying to sell it. The only reason I won't buy it is because it's an automatic.... it's still fun to take on backroad cruises though!

I can't remember the last time I saw an M30 of any body style. The convertible is handsome af but I would never buy a convertible that wasn't designed from the beginning to be a convertible.
I’ve seen a couple of these in socal some years ago bouncing along all ratted out with like the 12th owner lol. Be much better of with a gently owned 325 Cabrio they still look and drive nice.
I have never seen one of these in the wild, and I'm certainly old enough to have seen them when they were new. BTW, anyone notice the ridiculous levels of tail sag this car did in the videos even after mild acceleration? You can see it after the break tests, the rear end nearly squats down to the bump stops.

The styling is pretty bland and very late 80's Japanese. The interior screams 80's as well, but a lot of cars in the early 90's still had boxy interiors that carried over from the 80's. The dated design for the time doesn't bother me nearly as much as that it doesn't look terribly luxurious for a luxury brand. A Nissan badge would have seemed more appropriate.
It was a rebadged Nissan Leopard. I'm curious though, as to why they didn't offer any of the DOHC versions of the VG-series engines as was available on the JDM Leopard at the time. They even had a 255-horsepower turbocharged version available. Instead, we get the SOHC, naturally-aspirated engine. Makes no sense.
With the driver you're probably talking 3800 pounds for 160 hp I don't know what on earth makes Nissans of this era so porky , keep in mind a Lincoln town car of the same time period Only outweighed this car by about one large Farva and you're talking full size, full frame carwith a V-8.
No thanks. I'll take the Geo metro he mentioned for 1/3 of the price. Here we are almost 30 years later and I NEVER see any infinities of this era but there are still a few Metro 'verts running around the Denver area. Probably has something to do with the sheer sales volume of the vehicles though
Klasse Act Nissan makes interesting engines like the VQ37, VR30DDTT and VR38, but it’s been over 10 years since they’ve added an iconic addition to their car line-up

I saw one of these two years ago in 2021 in New Hampshire. They were rare thirty years ago. I can only imagine there may be about 100 or less today.

I think around 2000ish Lexus brought out the SC300 coupe/convertible with a folding metal roof. The Lexus SC as seen the film Mean Girls I recall

This thing was based off Nissan 240sx convertible and M30 coupe based off Stanza now replacement of Altima.

No thanks. I'll take the Geo metro he mentioned for 1/3 of the price. Here we are almost 30 years later and I NEVER see any infinities of this era but there are still a few Metro 'verts running around the Denver area. Probably has something to do with the sheer sales volume of the vehicles though
