If you watch a full screen replay, Canelo planted both feet solid and threw from the heel/pivot right up from hip to trunk to arms. That was a properly executed full body throw rather than merely an arm punch. That punch was so fast that in the replay there was a "ghosting" following his swing when he started the throw. Also, it landed right at base of skull right behind the ear. That was an immediate loss of equilibrium. The follow up punch to the jaw was unnecessary. That full body thrown punch was textbook as I was taught as an amateur.
Canelo will not stay in light heavyweight. No comparison can be done with old time champions when a change of division was not allowing to pick the opponent but he is for sure good. I don't like Canelo, which I consider extremely strong but lucky in having the career perfectly mangaed since the beginning: this doesn't mean he is not an exceptional champion, but I am convinced that he brings in so much money that he can pick the opponent dictating conditions to his own advantage and the opponents themselves are so happy with the purse that accept all. All credit to Canelo - I predicted points win for Kovalev - and I think it would have been if it had gone the distance. However Canelo showed great pressure and patience . Canelo is a great fighter.

As far as the last question asked, I'd still say that Chavez Sr. is the greatest Mexican boxer of all-time. Are we going to pretend like Canelo wasn't juiced to the gills? If Kovalev was too it would have been fair but we know that Canelo consumes that Mexican meat. Not only did he fail a formal drug test when GGG's team wisely had him tested outside of competition and prior to training camp when they do their juicing before cycling off when camp starts, but he failed the eyeball/common sense test too. Keep in mind, this is a guy who just three years ago weighed in at 155 and is now weighing in 20 pounds heavier with not an ounce of fat on him. Even without pissing hot, anyone with half a brain would be able to tell he is dirty. Being the cash cow that he is, he will continue to get away with it because it's all about the bottom line. If he or anyone else ever kills someone after testing positive I think they should be charged with manslaughter. Since they aren't going to stop and the powers that be care way more about money than the well being of the fighters, at least let everyone juice so it's a level playing field!

All credit to Canelo - I predicted points win for Kovalev - and I think it would have been if it had gone the distance.
However Canelo showed great pressure and patience . Canelo is a great fighter.
One thing about this fight that spoiled it for me was the commentators my god They we're biased ,there is no way on earth canelo was ahead on points regardless of the judges scorecards,yes he did well to stop kovalev but untill that point he was behind for sure

As far as the last question asked, I'd still say that Chavez Sr. is the greatest Mexican boxer of all-time. If all of Canelo's wins were legit (no robberies) and he fought Kovalev and GGG in their respective primes, then I'd give him the crown. But otherwise, I just can't give this kid that kind of honor.
