'Diesel Gala' in the Valleys - final runs of loco hauled 2005

4th December 2005 the week before Class 37/4 services were due to finish Arriva arranged a 'Diesel Gala' for the Rhymney Valley Line. Various locos that had previously worked the route are seen tackling up and down the gradient from Cardiff up to Rhymnney. This video includes not only on board footage but with kind thanks to Darren Morgan a stunning selection of lineside footage too. Only being 8 at the time of this, this day sticks in my mind vividly, especially that first shot of 37411 looking resplendant in BR Green. Locos featured during the day inlcude 33207, 37411, 37419, 37425, 47854, 50031 & 50049. All of this for loco hauled to be brought back last year in the form of Transport of Wales and Colas operation. I have attempted to run the lineside clips along the day of that of the onboard footage too, you might even spot a wave from the onboard crew at Gilfach Fargoed.
