I'm pretty sure Zeldris is the better swordsman. He was trained by Cussack, and Rueduciel stated that his swordsmanship is the fastest in the Demon Realm. Mel may be stronger overall, but in terms of pure swordsmanship Zeldris should be superior.
Also, Meliodas is NOT the second oldest demon lmao. Chandler, Galand, and The Sinner are all older than him.

No, he really wasn't. No matter how strong he is at this point [Manga spoilers as to why he couldn't right now] he could never beat 9 commandments himself. Even if he somehow manages to kill 8 of them, that leaves Zeldris. And at Meliodas' strength at this time there is *zero* chance Meliodas would beat him.
