Thanks Dan. This is a very interesting and useful lesson in making music from scales. Lots of good music comes from these techniques. Glad you included the Dorian mode too.
Thank you so much for this video! Have been knee deep in theory these passed couple weeks and have been working on diatonic triads, relative chords, and modes. This video kinda just ties everything together! Great work 😊
Wow, this video is a game changer! Dan's tips for turning bass scales into great music are really helpful and practical. I appreciate how he breaks down the basics of music theory and shows how to apply it in creating bass lines. The examples he provides are clear and easy to follow. I can't wait to try out some of these techniques in my own music! Thanks, Dan!
Wow you just blow my mind 😳. I never take time to learn scales and that hurts my bass playing on the fly. I can lock something down but takes forever. Thanks 😊 love this.
Cheers Dan! I'm just starting to break out of playing scales and tabs and scratching the surface of improvising, your videos and books are proving very useful. When you're adding fills and flair to pieces, is the "golden rule" to use notes from the scale the piece is written in or the root note of say the 4th bar. Thanks for all the content and inspiration 👍🏽
Thanks, Martyn. I would say that there are no rules and that it’s always context-dependent and about what sounds good. However, notes from the key (especially pentatonics) usually works.
Another pot of gold from Dan every aspiring bassist needs to watch - thank you sir!
Yesss. Please more lessons on rhythmic possibilities. You make it looks so effortless.
Will do, Peter.

This video is genius. I'm used to just noodling scales, but now I'm going to try this.
