Those big spikes of damage you're doing are when you proc a bleed on the enemy. Your weapon has innate bleed damage

I realised when editing that it sounded like I was saying big damage on the wings about the blood loss. I actually just noticed the normal hits jumping up in damage and happened to blood loss at the same time. Thank you for letting me know in case I didn't though! :))

22:00 the buildings design in this game is taken from the world design of DS1, which've been praised a lot.
People used to call DS1 world open, though it was basically a maze - but the amount of ways to go and the connections created a feeling of the open world there. And meanwhile it was not overwhelming to explore, since most of the time you could just follow the walls, corners, write down all the unexplored paths, etc.
Also the progress, a possibility to explore a new area, felt like a reward, since you couldn't as easy to run by enemies as you do in ER world.
I bet you would love exploration aspect of DS1 and Hollow Knight.

Hey hey Alan, they've done such a great job haven't they! Yes that's exactly what I love, trying to figure out a maze and finding secrets within it. I would love to try DS1 at some point and Hollow Knight I can confirm I adore already! 😁

The red eyes are definitely more aggressive, on those dino dawgs.
You finally got to the merchant with the beast-repellant torch! I don't think it helps on the dino dawgs, but on the smaller dogs, and bears, and other beasts, and rats, and a few other things (check the wiki), yes. Good to have on hand.
That one attack of Ekzykes is just sudden death. A little rot is fine, but the one where she hits the whole area with a big puff of rot, you just need to be out of the area, really. With Ekzykes down, you can get the stronger scarlet rot breath attack. Although I find the weaker one easier to manage, most times.
I was SO glad when I got the Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing that let me buy 7's. They are SO rare in the world. Too rare. It's kind of weird.
That sword, you can get from the other side, definitely. I don't remember it being that hard, but come to think of it, I was using a walkthrough that did tell me which steps to take, so that might have helped.
You got Flame Grant Me Strength behind Fort Gael. That's one of the best buffing spells. Most people use that plus Golden Vow for a lot of boss fights.
I finished the game last week -- did I tell you? Now I'm just leveling up a bit to go into the DLC. I would have been ready a few days ago, but I had a stroke on Monday and spent 2 days in the hospital. It was the most minor stroke of all strokes that have ever been noticed, I think. I lost some words -- just a few, common ones that I use every day, and other than that, I really didn't have any other signs, which made us not really alert that it was even a stroke going on. But eventually I got to the ER and yeah, I had 2 brain bleeds. I got all my words back by the next day, spent a couple days doing a bunch of tests, and now the scary thing is that it could happen again and be worse next time, so hopefully we can figure out what caused it and prevent that. (I have Lupus and stuff related to that, so it may be related.) Anyway, I'm back on track with Elden Ring now, and ready to hit the DLC in another level or 2 I think. :)

The beast-repellant torch works on the dino dogs as well, but not on the ones with the red eyes.

Yea it's kinda crazy how aggressive they are 🤣 And ah yes I will be buying him out very soon 😅 I haven't actually ever used it, but I can imagine it being so handy specifically for dogs, I need to try it to just see what actually happens.
Yea I was surprised that the scarlet rot fully filled the whole arena!
Haha yea I can imagine. I think it's kind of clever for them to make 7's rare as people can't level up their weapons very fast. Or at least can't past that until they find one.
Oh interesting, I tried for ages in a previous episode but couldn't get it, so GGs!
Oooo no you didn't, congratualtions! I am currently loving the DLC, I hope you enjoy it, definitely worth making sure you're a good level for it. Oh my gosh I'm so sorry to hear that, how awful! How are you feeling now? And oh wow that is so scary, I'm really glad you're ok! Yes definitely do some research into triggers because prevention is key and make sure you take the time you need to look after yourself because that is traumatic ❤ Looking forward to hearing what you think about the DLC

@@thenoake1 Thanks! I'm feeling good, just tired -- so many doctor's appointments! And I'm so anemic, so tired makes sense anyway. I met my neurologist and found out that one of the brain bleeds was an older stroke -- no idea how long ago. So wow, I've had two, I didn't even know. The older one was small. came from a vein in the back of my neck on the right; the newer one is much larger, came from a vein in the front of my neck on the left. Also, she said I must be one of the few people who process language on both sides of my brain, because looking at the scan, she did not expect me to be talking at all!
So I am very glad to NOT be neurotypical. If my brain was ordinary, I would be spending months or years right now just learning to talk all over again. That's pretty mind-blowing. Yeah, the focus now is on making sure I don't have another one.
DLC wise, I'm through most of Gravesite Plain west, except for Bellurat Gaol and Bellerat Tower Settlement. I've got to the first sites of grace in those 2 places. I went to Dom's Roundtable "things you missed" for the area and caught up on the few bits I had missed myself, and now I will level up a couple of weapons I want to try out, maybe farm a few runes so I can level up and use up the runes I've got to date, then I'll do the Gaol and from there on to the Settlement. (The Gaol starts with some parkour, so I'd rather not start that with a bunch of runes.)
I've started out pretty highly leveled, but I'm still pretty happy at how I've managed the bosses so far. Most have taken a few tries. The worst so far was the Curseblade on the road into the Church of Benediction. I got 'im, though. And I'm playing by the same rules as I did the main game: I'm killing every enemy, big and small, at least once, and collecting absolutely everything. The one thing I'm doing very different is that I'm going through each area on my own to discover things rather than going through with a walkthrough. But then after doing a whole area, I'm checking with "things you missed" videos. I think that's a good compromise. I get to explore on my own, but I won't miss anything either.

@@Angi_Mathochist I'm so pleased to hear that, I can imagine you're exhausted yea! Oh wow that's crazy how you don't even realise. Also that's so interesting about not being neurotypical, I'm very pleased that worked out for you!
DLC wise first off, love the compromise! Sounds like a great way to do it. I kind of do it in a similar way, but I just wait till the end of the game to look it up (I think your way suits you better). Sounds like a good plan in regards to runes too. I find leveling is not so important with the DLC, it's the Scadu level that makes the difference. I have been trying to not level mine up until I hit a very hard boss then do it a up a little. Very nice on the bosses and enemies, I'm trying to do the same :))
