Spider-Man 2099 #1 is the actual first appearance of Miguel O'Hare. You can't just take the first five pages out of that book stick them in another book call it a preview and expect anyone to reasonably consider that a first appearance. ASM 365 is not a first appearance and it's not even a cameo.
2099 is the first solo title and second appearance. 365 is 100% a first full appearance. One of the main arguments with Wolvie is he is in only 1 panel. 365 is more than one panel ergo it’s a first appearance. Otherwise let’s remove the term “cameo” from comics altogether. Which would make Hulk 180 Wolvies first appearance as it should be. Regardless 365 is the first for Spidey 2099.
@@synisterpeep339 There is a difference between a cameo and a preview. A cameo is normally limited to one page with or with out dialog where the character has no discernable effect on the story. However that single page would be original unto itself i.e. Wolverines first cameo in Hulk 180. In the case of Spider-Man 2099 they copied the first five pages from Spider-Man 2099 #1 and inserted them into ASM #365. Those five pages are original to Spider-Man 2099 #1 "Not" ASM #365. Even Todd McFarlane has said on many occasions that Malibu Sun #13 as nothing more than an image of Spawn and the first appearance is Spawn #1 as all they did was take a piece of artwork from Spawn #1 and stick it in that book. Come on bro do better.
ASM 39 is one of the greatest early Goblin covers, maybe the best in the first 100 issue run. Great alternative is the Marvel Tales exact reprint from the 1980's.
Never! Everyone knows THE most iconic cover in that first 100 issues is ASM 50 “spider man no more”. That’s been parodied and it’s been everywhere in pop culture. It doesn’t get better than ASM 50.
The Spider-Man 2099 1st appearance debate is fairly identical to the 1st appearance of the New Teen Titans. The New Teen Titans first appeared as a 16-page preview in DC Comics Presents #26 before hitting NTT #1. If Spidey 2099's 1st appearance isn't in ASM #365 ( 5-page preview), then by the same logic DC Comics Presents #26 isn't the 1st New Teen Titans either.
@@havok33777 Not that I can think of anything other than DC Presents #26 is 16 pages and ASM #365 is only 5, but I think 5 pages is more than enough info to constitute a 1st app. Especially with what happens in those 5 pages.
I am a fan for sure, watching for a long time now! Why though can we not get info on raw books? Availability of books does not depend on CGC census, there are plenty of copies of books to be had. Raw book preference has been on the rise lately and I actually prefer raw. As a seller and collector. I would love if you guys would include raw book data, sales averages, etc.
Demand for UFO # 4 might be high, but so is the supply. The only way for this book to move up in price in a meaningful way is if the supply decreased significantly. As long as more and more books are being submitted to the grading companies and reported in the census, that's not likely to happen any time soon. Cheers.
I just got the Spider-Man 2099 first book for $53 last week at a 9.2. It is funny my son has my ASM 365 and now I do not think I will be getting it back. This has become one of my favorite channels on RUclips.
He is right about Conan it is at about the lowest ever-but going up lately. I have several but will buy a very nice grade copy with the first number being a 9. something b/c I never lost on a true classic. AMS 9.6 is a good deal at any price b/c it is so exclusive and worth it any which way you project it.
The best writing and art of Golden Age Comics and Pulp story mags is preciously rare in high grades. I recommend pulps with Henry Kuttner. Rare talent died early middle aged. A friend to August Derleth and H.P. Lovecraft
I think both books are great, but the ASM will always be more popular only because there is so many people who are collecting the four run. I need that book.
will the first appearance/cameo thing ever be settled....I mean Strange academy had previews in Like 6 different books before it dropped #1...will people debate that as well I wonder....seems to make even less sense if they did but who knows
I think Conan #1 is a bit undervalued. But the truth is there are lots of these books around. I knew guys back in the day who had 20-30 copies of Conan #1 stashed away. Ppl began hoarding in the 70ð³😊s. I have a copy that could rate 9.4 or above but I am not sending it in until it is worth a lot more.
No he’s right. How can you take pages created for the ACTUAL BOOK OF SPIDEY 2099 and then paste them into a different book and say this is the first appearance? If Spider Man 2099 1 is never created or released, they don’t have anything to even preview. If marvel wasn’t so desperate and thirsty for cash grabs they could have left the preview out and then the same exact pages art and characters would be unchanged but still in their original book. That’s like the first preview appearance of miles morales, why are you paying for a picture and it’s not even a comic page yet, just a picture and people say that’s his first appearance. No way!
@@Just_Pele no I don’t. You just don’t understand what I’m saying. If you’re an artist you have to make your art months in advance, so, the artist (Rick Leonardi I think) had already finished the art for the first issue. Instead of them waiting for the release of Spidey 2099 they put the first 5 pages of his art in a DIFFERENT book to get as many sales as possible on the upcoming book Spidey 2099 #1. I agree with Gem, Spider-Man 2099 is INDEED the first appearance. Sorry Tom, I love you man! ❤️🙏
The real first appearance of Conan is the Robert E Howard Weird Tales pulp Dec 1932 issue.
I'm with Gem on Spidey 2099
90 spectacular of spider man has two page spread of 2099 spider man one month before the amazing spider man
Good to see Conan get some attention. Barry Windsor-Smith has always been a favorite of mine. Got the book a long time ago. Imo it is way undervalued.
With the way Disney gave the Kingpin a power upgrade, it would make sense to have Spider-Man and Kingpin coming to blows.
I got my copy of UFO for 45$ when the movie came out. Wish I should've bought more 😪
Keep the Spider-Man books going hopefully my ASM 50 in a 7.0 will get that trickle down effect from the other sales.
he shouldn't have sworn, he should have spoken dialogue from issue #50

good job Kraven wasn't in BP, would have been a racist and made to look like a plonker, BP films are terrible.
A first appearance is exactly what it implies. The first appearance. So spiderman 2099 #1 can not and will never be the "first appearnce".
