  • Marcus and Michael are baffled at how invested walleye anglers are in catching fish that fight like a clump of grass. Randy is one of those guys. So we joined him on one of his favorite fisheries for walleye. Fort Peck is a true spectacle. With more shoreline than the Californian coast and over 40 different species of fish, there is no telling what is on the end of your line when you feel the tug.

    Walleye are fun to chase, but have to agree with you Marcus, the eating is better than the catching. Thanks for sharing.

    Going walleye fishing in a few days. Fully expect to burn 200$ in fuel and bounce around the river looking for fish, expecting to catch none. I am so excited I can barely sleep.

    I’m with Randy. There is something about Walleyes! While the taste can’t be beat, there’s something about fishing for them that is magical! It’s always a big celebration when we land a Walleye!

    Great fishing trip! Being from Michigan I have access to probably the best walleye fishing in the country! I love them!
    Little known fact though we also have a crazy good smallmouth fishery in northern Michigan. Living in southern Michigan I mostly fished for largemouth bass. I tried to cook them many different ways and finally just quit eating them.
    On a walleye trip up north we caught a couple big smallmouth . We cooked them with walleye and found we liked the smallmouth better than the walleye!
    So I think Randy should do a taste comparison and see what he thinks.

    I agree that the smallness are a great species to catch, especially on a fly rod! Randy is a Minnesota guy, so give him a little break, after all he’s got the boat….lol. Fort Peck is an incredible fishery.

    I'm happy to catch anything but then you get people like my Dad and if he doesn't catch at least one Walleye in a fishing day the whole day is ruined. Its a good tasting fish but I'm there for the day on the lake and the fishing experience. Not what tastes best in the fryer at the end of the day. If that was the case I'd just fish perch. 😅
    I can agree about pike though. Its a great fight but that slim and stink gets everywhere. 😂😂

    I can't understand why you make a video about what walleye fishing does for the economy in Montana and yet you also are clearly against walleye being in Montana

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 месяцев назад

      Nobody is against walleyes being in Montana. Watch it again. It states that the reservoirs are manipulated non-native environments, so is it reasonable to expect only native fish to be in these human-manipulated systems? I walleye fish all summer, even though it means traveling 300+ miles.

    • @jasonrigsby6190
      @jasonrigsby6190 Месяц назад +1

      Every one of those fish you mentioned as introduced are native…. There are those that want us to think differently.

    The reason the narrator cannot comprehend the money spent on fishing walleye is because the narrator is poor; in spirit, and in bank account. Randy, as always, is correct.

  • @dr.dockter1482
    @dr.dockter1482 2 года назад

    Anybody can catch a pike with no skill. Anyone can catch a bass with no skill. To consistently catch nice fish of both takes a lot of skill. Not everyone can catch a walleye and even less people can catch quality walleye repetitively. Even though pulling cranks is probably the easiest way, it’s the most boring. If you pitch jigs/pull bouncers when you’re into nice big fish you’ll be hooked for life.
