Much of the mysteries we believe, we believe or take for granted, because others who are seemingly more intelligent than us believe it. And by believing what they believe we feel worthwhile, because we rightly calculate we must be worthy of their acceptance, for believing what these ones whom we deem the worthy ones believe. This probably doesn’t include some lost tribe in the Amazon jungle. Above all things we have a preference to be accepted because it helps us to feel ok about us. And of course we all want to feel ok. That’s our number one thing in life. Hence we are inclined to want to subscribe to what these ones believe to be true even if it sounds a little crazy. And though it seems impossible that 30,000 species of fish is some kind of crazy accident, nevertheless many will believe it’s an accident in order to maintain their feeling of acceptance from their peer group, instead of wondering and puzzling over a mind teaser like this. Food for thought says the illegitimate son of Confucius😜
Those who sail the ocean blue don’t spend their time any more perpetually going to cafes for coffees like us, or on shore chores like gassing up their car , not feeling like a star, wandering supermarket isles like waifs, getting supplies while they wish they too could be sailing away for a long adventurous holidays and having a fabulous getaway. But these sailors without the distraction of land have time to think and wonder what it’s all about. They have become a reflective lot. Is it a miracle or is it some kind of crazy accident that there’s some 30,000 species of fish in the deep blue sea. That’s a lot of species. Invariably sailors unlike us landlubbers will be more interesting. The sea has changed them. They aren’t know it alls or if they were they’re not anymore, and they have gained the wisdom of being better listeners than ever before. Have you noticed this. Why is this I wonder? Perhaps it’s because they are in an uncertain environment that’s constantly changing, gaining them a gratifying new found level of self sufficiency which will stand them in good stead for life. It’s said that when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Maybe we all need to go to sea so we can be ready.
