Came across your video as I’m climbing it next weekend. Really nervous but the first part of your video put me at ease! You and your friends are enjoying it and in such positive mood! 👍🏼
Hi! I am Sabahan. I climbed Mount Kinabalu when I was 23 years old. You can say that I was at my tip-top fit at that time. Even so it was quite a challenge. At that time there no fence along the track. Only the rope at Sayat-sayat. The pathway was such that if it rains , you are not walking but slipping and crawling up to Laban Rata. There were no restaurant. Only a place to sleep before the 2.00 am climb to the peak . We slept in sleeping bags. We carried our own pack of rice, vegetables and any source of food supplies for our dinner. There were 21 climbers in our group and we were divided into two groups. Only one person did not reach the peak.
Wow, how long ago was this? I remember seeing Kinabalu ad TV in early 80s. There were snow at the peak! Nowadays it is more commercialised for tourism. I am surprised to see so many stairs/steps to climb.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful video ,all of you deserve a standing ovation, hope to reach there one day,I just started a small mountain this year I can imagine how it feels to reach the top of this beautiful legendary kinabalu summit
You are most welcome. I made this video to share how the trails and agenda looks like for new climbers. And the same time , climbing this mountain is actually a fun thing to do 🥰
Thank you. Hope the video will give a good insight of what's to come. Yes, of coz you can. No matter what, don't give up. One of the girl in my group (in yellow) had mountain sickness at KM5, but she ate paracetamol and continue to press on the next day. It was tears of joy when she reached the top.
Congratulations to all, especially to the elderly in the party. I know how it feels, trust me. Myself done it 5 times over the years. Now with the 3 new green huts managed by KK Parks, the costs are much lower. Next, try the Indonesian mountains like Mt Rinjani, Semeru and Kerinci.Different feel to all 3. Congratulations once again to all!

Hi, nice video. Planning a hike there soon. May I know which trail is this?
There is only one trail available - Timpohon trail. The Mesilau trail has been closed since 2015 earthquake.
Excellent video!
