    I've been going through the "I should have known" and "how the heck did my endo get missed?!" in the last couple weeks too. I feel like it's so unfair to blame yourself. Young girls are not taught what is a normal menstrual cycle and what is not. Doctors just want to prescribe birth control and send you away. Another huge barrier is that the only way to diagnose endo is with surgery. That alone makes getting a diagnosis very difficult. My dream is that one day there will be a way to diagnose endo without surgery. Doctors are uneducated about this condition. There is a lot of work to be done in terms of awareness, better treatments, and pain management.

      Also check out Melissa's website Endo Empowered, if you haven't already. She's got a treasure trove of information on natural remedies/diet changes for endo. She explains the root causes of endo lesions and how to fix it. (liver, thyroid, inflammation, hormone imbalance) It's been a lifesaver for me as I have little desire to take more drugs.

    Stunning footage!!!! Fall hasn't even started here in Toronto! It's still summer! Crazy how different it is on the west coast! 😉 I have PCOS and it's actually a misconception that PCOS means that you have tons of ovarian cysts. PCOS actually means that you don't ovulate regularly due to hormone imbalances and as a result, you have an enormous accumulation of immature follicles. (Lots of follicles, not cysts). If your cycles have always been regular, chances are that you don't have PCOS.

    hey Ayla :) I've discovered your and your husband's channel while looking at endometriosis videos. First of all I want to say that your little family is beautiful and no one deserves to go through the things you have gone through. I hope one day you will find the peace and love you deserve. I don't like to say you guys are so inspiring and strong because when people tell me that I just can't agree but you two are really amazing.
    I watched your video about your depression story and I have a similar type of story. I grew up with depression and severe anxiety from living in a high stress pastoral family. unfortunately my family was not as supportive as yours seems that they were, but I surprised everyone with doing something crazy just like you and left home far away to go to college all on my own.
    Unfortunately I fell into depression after I was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease and Lupus along with other autoimmune disorders like Sjögrens syndrome and Reynauds. My depression and lupus symptoms were so bad I couldn't function and went back home for three semesters to get treatment.
    Though I never felt they were successful I was determined to go back to school and finish my degree but then started experiencing severe pain in my abdomen and back. It was so bad that I would be bedridden for weeks and missed half of my classes and then I was severely depressed so I had to drop out again a semester away from graduating to find out what that pain was and do something about it. I was diagnosed with Endometriosis after I went to the emergency room and they found a 10cm endometrioma stuck on my right ovary, tube, and uterus. I had surgery and do not have the intense pain anymore thankfully but I still have been depressed and anxious about my timeline for having kids and if I will be able to have any because of my endometriosis.
    So why am I telling you and whoever reads all of this? I just wanted to express that watching your videos makes me want to keep trying to succeed. People say I'm strong but I don't feel it. I don't know what it's like to have to go through what your family has gone through but I know it must be difficult to stay positive for yourselves and your viewers. I want to say thank you for sharing your lives with us and being so honest. You guys are great and I know there are others like me who feel inspired by you to keep going and trying to succeed with our goals no matter what. Thank you.

    I just started watching your channel but your story has totally inspired me and given me hope. My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for a while... it's been a roller coaster of emotions. I had severe pain from a giant cyst in January which led to the discovery of endometriosis. The doctors are not sure I can even conceive. but we're praying and trying. However, this past week has been really hard because my pain has escalated to an unbearable point from my endometriosis. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to discuss some options and discuss what's next. I've cried so much this past week, especially when watching some of your videos because finally I feel like I'm on this journey with a couple I can relate to. If nothing else, your channel has reminded me that as a couple, my husband and I can get through this together and this journey will make us stronger. Thank you for posting your story.

    Hi Ayla. I, like you, have endometriosis and also live in Calgary. From what I've heard of your story I really really recommend you watch the documentary "Endo What?" I'm assuming that the technique used in your surgery was burning the endo off. In the documentary they talk about how that method is just not effective. I also highly recommend Dr. Belland in Calgary. She's the only doctor in our area that's qualified to do the proper surgery to remove endometriosis. Endo is a terrible disease and unfortunately most doctors just don't know how to deal with it. I really hope you consider this because I strongly believe that it could help you a lot!! Sending lots of prayers and love your way :)

    Hello you 2. So first off, having Endo diagnosed is the hardest thing. When I thought something was wrong I was in tons of pain. To the point of vomiting. I forced my Dr to check me. They confirmed Endo in 2011 with Laproscopy. Was told it wouldn't prevent pregnancy. 6 years later and still no baby. Dr. Min did surgery in Feb again and still no baby. I encourage all women, super heavy painful and clotted periods are not normal. You should not be sick and dying in pain. Please see a dr. Also I think a hair change after what you have been through is a great idea. I'm a stylist and I think it would be gorgeous.

    Do the hair! If you want change, hair is the perfect place. It grows back, the change isn't permanent at all, and you can even dye it back if you don't like it! I LOVE changing my hair. I get bored if it stays the same for too long. DO IT! :)

    The hair change would look great! Would you like going lighter in the fall/winter though? Not that you HAVE to wait till the spring/summer but I know I always like to be dark in the fall. Something to consider. Also if you do balayage then it's very low maintenance and if you want to go back to brown it's easier to do.

    • @AylaandCaleb
      @AylaandCaleb  7 лет назад

I'm not married or ready for kids but I'm starting to think I should look into it more, just incase! Definitely do blonde, it'll look stunning! Especially if it's an ombré because when your hair is up you'll still feel like you have your natural colour so it's not a shock change:) x

    I just got a call last weekend from my doctor that from my pelvic ultrasound I had done and I have endometriosis and I also have hypothyroidism. I don't know anything about endometriosis except what I've googled and it still has me confused. I'm scared I can't have kids and I'm only 23 and my husband and I have been ttc for 3 1/2 yrs with no success. I don't have any pain or anything just heavy periods and I've been on my period for 1 1/2 months yes that long! All I know is that its 2 cm is what the nurse said when she called me to tell me I have endometriosis don't have my doctor appt about my ultrasound until Oct. so I'm anxious.....

    Definite Disney fan here! My fav movie is Beauty and the Beast. ❤️
    As far as PCOS goes, are your periods regular? Have you ever tried charting your BBT to confirm ovulation? I have PCOS and I think you have to have a combination of symptoms to be diagnosed. In my case it was irregular periods, cysts on my ovaries and hormonal imbalance. Hopefully that means you don't actually have it! That would be another annoying thing to deal with on top of everything!

    Do you know what kind of cyst's you had? Were they just the functional fluid filled ones, or the chocolate endo cysts? I had an endo cyst removed 6 mo ago, I'm stage 3 or 4, and now I have the same tight/full feeling in my left ovary, I think it's back. Which is so freakin frustrating! What was the point of the damn surgery then :( I thnk all endo women need to unite to search for a cure. Because the way things currently are, no one seems to even work on understanding where endo is coming from. It's been around for decades and even centuries, it's been tracked back to egyptian times. Yet everyone just shrugged their shoulders when it comes to it, because women stay too quiet about their issues. Btw, has anyone heard of or tried the supplement called endovan? I hear it works miracles for endo, it is pretty pricey though!
