Eh, I doubt that, I think it's more that, stylistically, music has changed. Pure vocalists matter less and less because basically, they're not needed.

Also he's a natural true counter tenor. A very small percentage of tenors can get into that range. It's not falsetto, which sounds totally different, when he hits the really high notes.

To be fair here. Bobby was a natural counter tenor, capable of naturally getting to a female contralto or mezzo-soprano range. It's considered the rarest voice type. Not even most operatic tenors can range there.

Young people looked older than their real ages back then because of the way they dressed and wore their hair. Both Bill and Bobby were 25 in 1965🙂. Bobby passed away in 2003 a few months after they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you feel like closing your eyes, you go right ahead - it's a great compliment when people get lost in the music. Great job🙂

Greatest Duo ever, started blue eyed soul also came from them for they harmonized and sang so soulful together!

Bobby Hatfield singing can give a fried egg chills. Hear Bill Medley sing lead on the record "I Wanna Make Love To You" and then sing "Brown Eyed Woman" with the Blossoms singing back up on the show Playboy After Dark. Their solos are filled with so much emotion but together they are one incredible duo. Both brothers are only about 25 yrs old here. Sadly Bobby passed away in 2003 b4 a show shortly after the Righteous Brothers were inducted into The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. Bill Medley is still at age 82 performing with a new partner Bucky Heard and always does a tribute to Bobby. In fact I saw them in concert about 9 months ago and it was great. Packed house too.

They were both lead singers when they got together and would trade off leads and backup regularly. Their harmonies in their duets were unbelievably tight - but they could both solo with strong, independent voices. Bill is a bass-baritone and Bobby a first tenor with counter-tenor range. Thunder and lightning….

Born August 10, 1940, Bobby Hatfield was 24-25 in 1965. Because of the way they dress, their general style and demeanor, young people back then give the impression of being older than they are, by our perception. Sadly, Bobby died in 2003 at the still young age of 63.
Bill Medley was born the month after Bobby, on September 19, 1940, and is *still performing* at the age of 82! (I post this comment on 01/29/23)

It's his vocal tone that hits you; I love his voice, and I love 'unchained melody'. I love singers that can do that to us, but for me, it's Rosé, from Blackpink, whose vocal tone hits me. It also made me realise that vocal tone is subjective. People fall in love with a singer that does it for them, but doesn't do it for me. So when someone says that so and so is the best, just remember it is true for them because your favourite is true for you. This has nothing to do with the Righteous Bros. because I too think they are great.
