  • Badger Daylighting™ is North America’s largest provider of non-destructive excavating services.
    Badger traditionally works for contractors and facility owners in a broad range of infrastructure industries. The Company’s key technology is the Badger Hydrovac, which is used primarily for safe digging in congested grounds and challenging conditions.
    The Badger Hydrovac uses a pressurized water stream to liquefy the soil cover, which is then removed with a powerful vacuum system and deposited into a storage tank. Badger manufactures its truck-mounted hydrovac units.

    is it common practice for the city to clear a upper lateral with a water
    jet cleaner? Do you also clean out upper laterals? Is is also supposed
    to be vacuumed out? Thanks

    Out here in Vancouver they seem to be the most expensive provider by far. We’ve used them many times out of necessity but TBH I haven’t seen any difference between them and other vendors in the same space except that they charge significantly more $$$. There’s a smaller company out here that gives great customer service and costs a lot less but they just don’t have the fleet/size

      Im aware that this is an old comment, the trucks initially got designed for the oil patch, there are some trucks (mostly new gen 5 trucks seem to take this as standard) that do have the boom on the passenger side. theoretically the boom can turn a whole 270 degrees.

      @01dumbfrog 4 года назад

      I never had a problem with them, as far as waisting water? Who really cares, after it gets sucked up into the tank are you planning on drinking it? And time wasted I work by the hour if it takes 10 minutes they get charged an hour if it 70 hours the coustermer is getting their monies worth. Five hours to find a 36” liquid natural gas line with 900 PSI of LPG running from Dallas to El Paso is cheap if the coustermer doesn’t have to replace a trencher and it’s operator we probably saved them a few million dollars because the metal detecting crew could not locate it and the engineers didn’t match the metal D crew and after I located the line was able to follow the dog leg, so the ditch digger wouldn’t cut into it’s sister line. I guess the one 36” pipeline wasn’t enough for the production coming out of the Newark East Barnett shale field ...

    Are any or all these companies ever liable/approachable for disgusting backup that pops out of basement drain holes in residential homes? There's a few hundred homeowners in London Ont. Canada who desperately want to meet with those responsible along with something called "The Force" out of Windsor... strap those responsible in a chair and say 'open wide' with a tablespoon of whatever came up out of that hole and serve them lunch.
    I know a fellow who ripped up his entire basement in a panic not knowing what was going on. For all the world "daylighting" appears to be a friendly euphemism for "we're here, and you're not going to like what we're about to do"...in the residential sector only, of course. I'm sure this is a great service for those who need it and it is indeed essential, but please tell me if there is a recourse, or protocol to City Hall or whoever for such occurrences. Who is ultimately responsible for claims in a home?
