How about starting with relative poverty? We could put money into more public transportation so that even low income people can get to where they need to go. It feels good when you have the tools to take care of yourself. Creating a less wasteful world is humane. If people are able to take care of themselves it has nothing to do with a handout.
Hi Kahlo thanks for your comment...and the million dollar question is what conditions create "agency" and what if it is missing? Lets say a person is in Kabul right now...how does one express one's "agency". I agree that a "handout" is not what we want...but what do you call a handout and what do you call just decency between people when our lives have been so differently blessed. It is, for me about embracing the full spectrum of the human experience and landing at the end of the day on "compassion" in how we treat the world.
@@mikesimpson4967 I just know that when I lived in a place where public transportation was available I was able to take care of myself. During this time my mental illness improved by leaps and bounds. My comment was not theoretical.
@@kahlodiego5299 what does public transportation has to do with mental illness? While there’s some degree of so called mental illness the bee to describe depression is a thought disorder. Some of us are not built the same, we don’t have the right coping skills, we don’t know how to handle stress etc etc but once we learn depression disappears
Thank-you Mike ... thank-you for this deep sharing
“It’s gonna be a tough century” oh boy. If only you knew.
@Ismael Barrera I didn't ask for life advice. I was making a joke. Move along.
Great presentation 👏
I needed this
When people have AGENCY poverty can decrease.
