Italians have way too many opinions about food for people who are obsessed with heartburn. I despise Italian food due to my ulcers, but one year for my girls birthday we went out for some Italian because she loves it, my oldest son was with us who was our only child at the time, little shit loves spaghetti. So he ended up getting spaghetti and I got some plain pasta with shrimp. Don't even remember what my girl got, about my son who's not even 2 years old at the time is having the time of his life with the spaghetti when one of the waiters comes up and tries to tell him not to cut it with his fork. My son didn't know what was going on so eventually kept going back to cutting his spaghetti. After the third time the way to try to say something I told him look dude, either you pay for food or you get the hell away from our table. My girl ended up getting so mad at me but on the drive home realized that the was the first time i ever encountered someone else trying to dictate what my kid did and it just didn't sit right with me especially over something as trivial as food. Play sharing the story with my friend who's partially Italian and he informed me it wasn't just that waiter but it tends to happen a lot at a lot of restaurants. For a person who can't even stand Pizza, it was pretty easy for me to completely cut Italian food out of my life after that. As for my son hehas no memory of the interaction and like his mother still begs for Italian at least once a week.

I despise Italian food due to my ulcers, but one year for my girls birthday we went out for some Italian because she loves it, my oldest son was with us who was our only child at the time, little shit loves spaghetti. So he ended up getting spaghetti and I got some plain pasta with shrimp. Don't even remember what my girl got, about my son who's not even 2 years old at the time is having the time of his life with the spaghetti when one of the waiters comes up and tries to tell him not to cut it with his fork. My son didn't know what was going on so eventually kept going back to cutting his spaghetti. After the third time the way to try to say something I told him look dude, either you pay for food or you get the hell away from our table. My girl ended up getting so mad at me but on the drive home realized that the was the first time i ever encountered someone else trying to dictate what my kid did and it just didn't sit right with me especially over something as trivial as food. Play sharing the story with my friend who's partially Italian and he informed me it wasn't just that waiter but it tends to happen a lot at a lot of restaurants. For a person who can't even stand Pizza, it was pretty easy for me to completely cut Italian food out of my life after that. As for my son hehas no memory of the interaction and like his mother still begs for Italian at least once a week.
