I removed that link, but can’t get her link to stick. It keeps changing it to that. Try searching her name on Instagram .
@@littlebitahomestead6891 I found the proper account of hers, it's Farida Sober (@faridasober) •
I'm wondering if the feed bags won't start disintegrating, and/or tear the onion roots when you unroll them as the roots might grow into them... the plastic ones might be better off, as much as it might not be great using bubble wrap for food crops perhaps. Maybe wax paper?
Yes that’s what I’m waiting to see. So far I’ve not had that problem. I have noticed that the paper rolls need water more frequently. I do prefer the plastic. And unless we go to seed blocks our seedlings are in plastic pots. Plastic is so frustrating.lol. I’ve seen some use wax paper but it seems very flimsy. I need to try it! Thank you for watching. And I just released a new video with more details on the see rolls.
@@littlebitahomestead6891 Plastic really is frustrating. Have you seen the video about plastics w.r.t gardening that the channel 'GardeningInCanada' (she is a soil scientist and posts about the science in gardening) posted recently about her very recent discoveries about plastic? It does make you question things lol, but plastic is so ubiquitous nowadays that it's hard to wean off! I'll check out the video. :)
@@matchynishi I have not. I’ll check her out! Thanks
Yah I've seen this before, but how does it save space? Couldn't you just plant them in the pot you popped the roll in?
Actually, it's a bit deep so maybe something shallower. I'm missing something obvious I guess as far as this method goes.
Hopefully you can educate me.
I’m working on an update video. Because I had some of the same questions. With onions yes you could keep them all in one container. However The roots actually grow long and strong. And not tangled . I unrolled my pepper seedlings and the roots are very long, not tangled and growing better than the ones in individual pots. I don’t know why. It’s new to me as well. And if I planted 15 or 20 peppers or tomatoes in one container I would have to separate them and pot them up in larger pots before my weather is warm enough to plant them outside.so far it appears that I will be able to keep them in the roll until time to plant outside. I’ll have the update video out in several days hopefully. Thank you for watching. I hope my response makes sense lol. It probably isn’t the best way for every variety but I’m going to try them all.
@@littlebitahomestead6891 Yep your respose was very informative. I'll wait for the update to see how it all goes. Thank you.
What is the Instagram page?
The link was not sending to the correct page! But her account is faridasober. So just search her! Farida Sober. Thanks for watching!
@@littlebitahomestead6891 thanks! Found her 💕
Please don’t use plastic, there is no need. Kitchen baking paper works absolutely fine, is non toxic, biodegradable, and way cheaper.
I agree . I’ve only used items that were recycled from a previous use! I’m notorious for saving things to reuse! And then plan to reuse and give it a repurpose! I’m also experimenting with paper from feed bags and other shipping items I save and reuse! I also repurposed Amazon shipping envelopes! The paper requires more watering and so far it is holding up and not deteriorating! Thank you for watching.
@@littlebitahomestead6891 Try not to repurpose plastic in edible setting as it's known to leech. Better to use in non-edible project such as insulating or protecting fragile items.
I do my best to avoid plastics as much as possible. Scientists are finding microplastics in human bodies. Very bad!
Too much plastic!! You can use thin cardboard or burlap instead! Plus when it wears out, just throw it in the compost!
go check out my comparison video! I give the results of all the different mediums I used! Thank you for watching.
@ thank you, I will. I do have a lot of extra shipping materials
No more plastic please.
It’s recycled from packaging already had! And if you watched the video you see that I’m experimenting with using paper and feed bags from my animal feed. I’ve also used amazon envelopes! Then the plastic can be used over and over and keeping it out of landfills as long as possible! And I’m pleased to find that the paper is holding up well . It needs watered more frequently.thank you for watching!
I found that too and just started mine. I used geotextil
Smart!!! Let me know how it does. I’ve been trying all different things I find around the house. lol let me know how it turns out. And thank you for watching.
