    I'm halfway through the video and I have to stop to say that this is an excellent review and that you really deserve a lot more subs and exposure than you have. Very well done and thanks for the video.

    I have bought it, I see that you can remove the small plastic valve from the main adapter which makes it easier to drink from a Nalgene... is there any reason or any comments on when to and when not to remove the little plastic valve that lets some air in

    Hi & Thank you so much for the video, it is super helpful.
    I was wondering if if the tube and insulation for the tube can be replaced with a clear tube & black tube insulation??

      I don’t see why not, as long af you use the same connectors.

    The wide big bottle adapter fits on my Hydroflask water bottle! Cool!

      What size hydroflask do you have?

    • @BrainMeltDown
      @BrainMeltDown 2 года назад

      @@jwo8189 I am using the 40 oz hydroflask there will be some water left inside because inner straw does not reach bottom might work be made more for 32 oz hydroflask but if straw is too long can cut it to fit. But right now. I have it hooked up through my tactical backpack to a 33 oz collapsible roll up bottle from the survivor filter straw brand (0.05 micron ultra filter with cotton pre filter and activated charcoal filter straw viruses too which most do not) You can even attach the straw to the hydroflask with the source-cap adapter

    does anyone know what the diameter of those hoses is? i might end up using my own hose

    Thanks I use it a night with a glass bottle for nice clean tasting water with no plastic taste, and can drink with my eyes closed with my head on the pillow at night.

    Nice video, nice product, could you provide a Link to the compatable water filter system?

  • @BrainMeltDown
    @BrainMeltDown 2 года назад

    Nice I just bought it and tested it out, but I do not recommend you swing the hose around trying to dry it out with centrifugal force, because I hit the plastic connector on my weight bench and it chipped the plastic connector, luckily it was just a small edge chip and still works.

    Really useful review thanks. Can you use the bottles upside down with this system and omit the straw inside the bottle so that gravity assists with drinking through the hose?

    Just bougt the set based on this review and I would like to add my two cents. First of all I find that it does take some effort to suck the water through the tube. it's definitely do-able but harder than I thougt. Second; for the life of me I don't understand why Source didn't include an adapter for a standard U.S.G.I. canteen, I mean this IS the military version of the convertube. my last critique point is that a 90 degree bend at the adapter would make it so much easier to use this system with tactical pouches - I had to cut a hole in the lid of my canteen pouch to run the tube through.
    I really like this set regardless of the few flaws I found.

      Kim,
      thank you very much for sharing your experiences.
      I have no problems getting water out of my different Source bladders (I have 5 of them) The water almost runs out of the valve, when it´s fully turned and pulled out. Maybe there's something blocking the tube or valve?
      Regarding the USGI canteen adapter, I agree somewhat. If ALL the different military all over the world use the same canteen type it would be a must, but I think they have to limit the number of adapters, or else they should provide them to all different types of bottles and canteens :-)
      I totally agree with the 90 degree bend, and will contact them with your suggestion.

      Kind regards

    Great video, thank you so much! One question: As soon as you put the hose into a bottle screw on the lid, does the hose stay in the same position or does the length still vary? And is the taste better than those of bladders? (Maybe I was too distracted by that spider:))

  • @Medievalfan94
    @Medievalfan94 7 лет назад

    Are there any different lengths for the tube? 95cm seem pretty long when I pack the bottle in a sidebag on my everyday normal backpack. And the hose seems pretty sturdy so I guess you cant roll up overlength.

      Sir,
      first I have to say I'm sorry for the late reply. My job is taking most of my time, but that will change soon, so I'll be able to post more reviews :-)
      No, there's no other lengths for the hose. I think the length is just fine for me, but it's of course a personal preference.
      Please share your experiences, so we all can learn from them.

      Late? You answered like at once xD
      I bought the civilian one. The civilian one is hard wired, so no fast couplings, everything is attached permanently. Also the civilian version does not feature the anti bouncing feature on the mouthpiece, which is a Source Helix valve and not a Storm valve like in the military version.
      As far as I used it (a day and a half) I can say I am pretty satisfied with it. It works as intended, the build quality is top notch, no burs or scratches, every bottle adapter is tight and secure, no leaks so far.
      The only negatives are the greaselike compound it comes with out of the box which disappears after throughout cleaning with mild soap and warm water, and the little white O-ring in the 20mm adapter which seals the white tube against the cap. This little bastard can get lost pretty easy when you accidentally pull out the inner tube too far, so be aware of that!
      The Helix valve works fine for me, although it acts pretty stiff and I am afraid that the rubberlike material will wear off over time or will become sticky when washed too often. This should be a minor problem, though, as you can just order a new valve for a few bucks and replace it from it.
      The hose is pretty straight forward: No fast couplings, just barb fittings on the mouthpiece and the 20mm adapter. It is pretty stiff and hard to get out of its original rolled up shape but with a bit of warm water you can (kind of) get it straight. The lenght is appropriate, though a little too long for my taste.
      I plan to order the military version later on because I like the fast connector system and all the gimmicky things Source offers additionally. Also I like the coyote better than the blue and orange theme on the civilian version.
      Thanks again for your fast answer! Keep on making videos, I like them!

      As far as hydration systems go the Source tactical systems fit the standard from my experience. I've used mine with Camelbak, vapur bottle drink link and sawer. The only issue I've had is the storm valve doesn't click into other hoses quick connect without modification.
      That said you can easily modify or order custom hoses.
