Mario Party Advance follows a different format than the main games, since only a single person can play without connecting to another GBA. In this game, the player moves around the game board, visiting characters, running quests, and playing minigames. Many of the non-player characters are from classic Nintendo 64 games like Super Mario 64 ( tasvideos.org/... ), Mario Party ( tasvideos.org/... ), and Paper Mario ( tasvideos.org/... ).
In order to beat the game as fast as possible, Nacho ( tasvideos.org/... ) manipulates luck to achieve favorable rolls. Careful Mushroom management also allows him to intentionally lose some minigames when it would be faster than beating them.

So let me get this straight, you show up at Bowser's bachelor pad, you offer to be friends(with how everything is set up, more like lovers) and he demands you buy him a ring. After getting him the ring and dueling him behind the backs of his underlings, he gives you his tasty mushroom gadget and insists he won't forget what just happened.

Man this game is nostalgic, had so much fun with me and my friends trying out the gadgets also.
Also, does anyone else remember buying this game you also got the paper board game it came along with also? It was such a nice addition.
I honestly liked this game as a kid, a neat take on the mario party formula on a smaller handheld that was more single player focused, better idea than 9 and 10's car gimmick i'll tell ya that.
I have never played 9 or 10 but I can guarantee this shitass game is not better in any way. God I'm still scarred for life.
@@HYDEinallcaps Well this is a single player experience, the other was meant to be way more focused on multiplayer, so the car forcing everyone to move to the same place has way more at stake
@@HYDEinallcaps Having played all three, Advance is definitely better than 9 and 10… save for the Bowser mode in 10, that mode is the only saving grace for 10.

Huh...I never knew there was a Mario Party game for the GBA.
It was my whole childhood, all I did when I was a kid was to play with Gaddgets and roll dices until I don't have any more mushrooms. 100% the game was my dream since then, and now I'm just halfway after years!
Well, something you might wanna know is that it...might not a very good/fun Mario Party game to play.
It definitely isn’t a great Mario party game but it is a good gba game overall. I love the charm with the characters and the minigames

It's not that the tas found it impossible, it's just that it was faster to lose the mini game rather than completing it.

This looks like it could have been fun, if it wasn't for the constant little interruptions at the fact that every quest completion was treated with the same fanfare.
+XanthinZarda I personally find the way they did the minigames to be obnoxious, too. Usually failing even just one (which, let's be fair, there was a high chance of doing so) tended to basically spell out doom unless you could read the dice and do some crazy TAS-like strats to save yourself.
Interesting concept, poor execution imho. (The jingle is a little silly too, so I agree with you there.)

+Xavier L I completely agree with you, the whole quest system and most of the mini games could have been done A LOT better. I could never even beat this game as a kid, and there are only 5 out 50 or so minigames that I actually enjoyed playing, its a shame.
Imho, this game was surprisingly good, I really liked it as a kid.

I didn't for sure.
It's only there as a disclaimer for Nintendo, so they won't get sued if someone hurts their eyes from playing too long, etc. The warning is still around today in 3DS and Wii U e-Manuals, and is one reason why those game devs are required to have an e-Manual at all.
