The legend having a kind & earnest conversation with the younger, but well established future legend, I just love this stuff so much, especially as a 47yo, because I'm quickly entering the get-off-my-lawn stage of life & loving it.
Dan John is an underrated source of knowledge. I based all my strength training on powerlifting. Naturally this was disrupted by the current panini.There's some wisdon about training like a thrower with Dan John's Knowledge. Low-tech, high efficiency. You should get a podcast with Ross Enamait
Dan John is my favorite coach/trainer of all time. Why?, I'm not an athlete and I lift crap and breathe heavy to stay strong and fit, i.e. I'm not an athlete. But Dan's no nonsense minimalist approach having myself, after 35+ years of fitness, found his words to be true of staying fit by lifting and doing stuff that makes me breathe heavy. Started out back in the day with Weider bodybuilding magazines and 1.5 - 2 hour workouts to now realizing for the average person wanting to stay fit and look good naked, it doesn't take a lot of stuff. Push/pull/hinge/squat/carry something heavy for resistance training and do something that makes your heart beat fast and you to breathe heavy for cardio vascular health. All the rest is somebody selling something LOL.
Gregory, the look on your face at 54:05 when you pop the “What’s your thoughts on functional training?” … what a great, sly smile 😂. The smile that says: “heh, heh, heh … I’m going to let the master crush this 😂”
In october I took the "10.000 swing challange" which reignited my kettlebell enthusiasm. Ultimatly it led me to your channel and this interview ties it nicely together. Thanks

Went to Google translate and learned that "lebe stark" means "live strong" in German. At first I thought it was your name. "Hi, I'm Lebe. My brother, Tony, is Ironman."
When we realize what contemporary bodybuilding is, kettlebells are just as good for bodybuilding, as are barbells, and machines. A lot of people will take issue with this, but bodybuilding is about the drugs that a person takes. When we see a top level bodybuilding competitor, what we really are seeing is a person who is willing to pay the cost, to win a trophy. A person who is willing to take enough, of tried and true combinations of a variety of drugs, at levels so high, they would make a female blue whale grow a penis. The cost is to their ultimate health. The truth is that if they didn't use all of the shit that they use, they would not be special, and wouldn't look any better than the most buff natural guy in the gym. Another truth is that if a person takes enough of the right combo of substances, they really don't have to work out much at all, to get a huge impressive physique. There are many examples of top level competitors, that hardly spent any time at all in the gym. What happens when these people go off of steroids? Well, we see what they look like a short while later, and what is that? They look like a normal person, who mildly exercises. I once knew a person who use to eat dbol by the cap full. He didn't even count them out, just swallowed a cap full. He told me that he didn't shit for two weeks, and that every thing he ate, when right in to the body. When he went off, he went down, just as fast as he went up. That all being said, if a person showed up to a gym that had only kettlebells, and they were loaded to the gills on shit (again, of a proper type/dosage), they could develop a body that would earn them their pro card. Yes, just as easily, as if they went to a gym with machines, and barbells, etc. In that sense, bodybuilding is the modern day equivalent of a circus side show. In every respect, the body that an average person will get, training without supplementation on pharmaceuticals, using primarily kettlebells, is in the very very truest sense of the concept, real bodybuilding.
