    That is some of the quietest keywork I have ever heard on a Selmer Privilege.

    How do you get it to speak so beautifully 😭😭😭 I’m so jealous I wanna play like you. What read do you use? Maintenance routine?

      Lots of long tones and tonguing practice helps but it won't happen overnight. Consistency and regular practice will. Find a setup that works for you: everyone is different. Bear in mind that bass clarinet keywork can be notoriously out of alignment and so make sure that whatever instrument you are playing is well maintained.

    Is that by chance the Selmer model 33 with extended range to low C?

    • @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet
      @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment! It’s a Selmer, but the Privilege model, to low C. All professional standard bass clarinets are built to low C.

    Great playing as always! I thought you play on the silver Blashaus, not the gold one? Or am I seeing things here?
    PS Curious of how you're finding the V21 reeds?

    • @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet
      @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet  Год назад +1

      I play on the gold one, never owned the silver. V21 reeds are great, I think. Reeds are as ever a very personal thing. I would say try them, but you might not like them.

    • @jmwoods190
      @jmwoods190 Год назад +1

      @@RichardElliotHaynes.clarinetActually I've tried them many times and they're currently one of my favorite reeds on bass, but I dislike them on Bb. I also own the very last Series 2 Silver Blashaus neck available on my somewhat-less-modified Selmer Privilege

      @@RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet PS Thought I saw that older vid of yours with that silver Blashaus on your bass 2 years back?

      I feel the same. I use V21 on Eb, basset horn and bass only.

      It must've been filmed when I was trying it out.

    Is that a low C bass????

    • @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet
      @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet  Год назад

      Yes, most classical players that play bass clarinet own a low C bass clarinet because the orchestral, chamber and solo repertoire demand this kind of range.

      @@RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet Idk, sax and clarinet sound somewhat similar to me. why cant you play it on a clarinet?

    • @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet
      @RichardElliotHaynes.clarinet  Год назад +3

      It's not a question of "if" I can play it on clarinet, but "why" would I play it. It's just not my cup of tea, but thank you for the suggestion.

      Hey thanks, I don’t really feel qualified to offer advice on working out… I mainly just go with my instincts and a wide variety of types of weights.
