I didn’t know that my two favorite actors ever were finally sitting down next to each other. Their scene in American Hustle was too short and had almost no exchange. To me Bale is the shape shifter that De Niro was in his generation. Really looking forward to this movie.
The older I get the more I understand De Niro. He’s not comfortable with praise and doesn’t want actors gushing all over him.
The interviewer asked great questions. It's always great to see so many talented people together.

Just saw this movie and I have no words!!! It's absolutely amazing! Can't remember when was the last time that I left the theater absolutely ecstatic! The line up is unbelievable, so many great actors in one movie. Great story, stunning visuals, electric performances, vibrant, colorful, explosive. The costume designer amd make-up artist deserve an Oscar immediately. It's a murder mystery, romance, farce, war movie, political polemic and period piece rolled into one, but still a movie about love. Hate to read that some critics compare this movie to American Hustle, Amsterdam is a million times better. The filmography reminds me of Wes Anderson in some way. Critics who giving this movie low ratings can't handle non-linear story. Yes, this movie is manic and chaotic and it was meant this way. Cristian Bale is outstanding as usual! Sarcastic and funny and relatable. Best work of David O. Russell! It's an absolute masterpiece, must see for all film lovers!
yeah, except some of those critics-- it's not for them. ha. so many great things about it. moved faster than I thought I was following everything sometimes. was more rife with info than nonlinearity.

I'm glad it wasn't just me! I was listening and was like 'welp, there goes Bale' lol because it did just sorta switch between his actual accent and the character/DeNiro accent lol.
He’s said in another interview that he can never fully get out of character and he done the same with Dark knight interviews. (As in half character accent half his own)

He’s not trying to hide it…he’s been living in the US non stop for thirty years now. His accent is no longer purely English but is now a combination. That’s to be expected and is common among transplants from different countries.
He has such an acute ear for accents that whoever he is talking to probably influences him subconsciously too. I say that because i have family in a different region than where I live in the US. Whenever I visit them my accent morphs closer to theirs “Southern” but not because I’m trying to hide my natural accent. There would be no point in me trying to do that on purpose because they know where I’m from. It’s just something that happens which I could police and shut down if I want to but I usually don’t.
Whenever Bale goes back to England, I can almost guarantee his accent changes back full on especially if he’s around family and friends. But his interviews are tied to work so those might be more situational, location based etc. But I’ve heard mostly an English accent in his interviews for the past several years.
It would be interesting to hear his daughter and son talk to see if they have a combination of their parents’ accents or if they have more of an accent you’d find in California where they have both been raised so far. 😄.
