Basically there's no difference between normal and very hard, in these boss battles, because you'll have the same hard time to kill it. I've tested it and the weapons/grenades have the same small damage output, no matter the difficulty. The only difference can be seen in how fast things are degrading (e.g. roads, structures, cargo etc.).

I only struggled with the first Cliff boss even on this difficulty, the final Higgs fight was hard at first but not very. Cliff 1 is the only one where you can’t bring much to the fight to help.
Cliff 2 I had the level 4 armour and brought the guns I needed. Easy. The third cliff I had the level 4 assault rifle. Took 2 attempts and only because I decided to beat him hand to hand and that doesn’t work 😂

I hope it will help, Im on the first Cliff battle ( I beat the game on normal before ) but he test my patience. Sometimes I just lose him ^^;

The whale boss is the worse thing in the game. It was a very clunky fight. Then the thing shoots bombs at you and tries to eat you, I died at least 3 times.
