There's a reason why only the ones sold in Belém are called Pastéis de Belém (trademarked name) and all the "other ones" are called Pastéis de Nata, if they were created by the monks they would also be called Pastéis de Belém.
@@whodidwhatforusNo you are correct. Even though Pastel de Belém has a “secret recipe”, pastel de nata is a replica. It’s like saying John Stith Pemberton didn’t invent cola because coca-cola has a secret recipe so Pepsi-cola was invented by someone else.
