  • In this video, I review the Silverlight hiking socks, which, in my opinion, are the best thru-hiking socks ever. I thru-hiked over 900 km with them and I got zero blisters along the way. They're still going strong and I will continue using them for the foreseeable future.

Horizon - Primaloft Explorer Extreme socks have Silver Yarn from Primaloft!
If I'm not mistaken, Horizon are made in Italy and the Silver Yarn are made in Germany. I was blown away with the quality, comfort, cushioning.

Has anybody else tried, Horizon - Primaloft Explorer Extreme socks please? They have the Silver Yarn mentioned in this video and it's an Italian brand. Are these beter than Smartwool socks? I'm searching for the best I can get, for not the coldest weather, but still winter medium length hike/trekking socks, on rocky/gravel and mud paths. Thanks in advance

I can not recommend the silverlight store. I ordered and paid 3 pairs of socks but didn‘t get a tracking number for shipping. Asked 4 times per Mail for this without getting any answer nor the socks jet. But they send up to 2 marketing mails evelyn day. I think I lost my money without getting the socks because I live in Germany and can‘t do anything from here.

for me socks play zero part in blisters or no blisters. i can wear the same socks in different shoes and in certain shoes i always develop blisters, even after just an hour of walking. and in other shoes i am comoletely bluster free. all the time wearing the same socks.

By now while they’re on sale! Usually $96.00 now just $79.00. For one pair of socks. You’ve got to be shitting me.

I think it's for a 3 pack. 😅 i bought the long ones for 27 eur back in summer and the short ones for 23. It looks like the long ones are 30 now.

    • @xFlazz

Yes, they're absurdly overpriced. And they sell them in 3 5 and 7 packs so you'd have to buy them twice to get an even amount. Not even willing to buy them to compare them to darn tough.

The $79 is for three pair. I think the price is fair enough because it can solve two biggest issues we have on thru hiking that are blisters and bad smell.

Regular price is $25 for ankle socks and $32 for crew socks with quantity discounts for 3-packs and 5-packs. We have actually lower margins than other brands and can only offer these prices because we sell directly to consumers. About 50% of our production cost is just the raw material for the silver yarn.

Theres nothing better then the wool socks or clothing. Its a natural material, it will keep u warm during winter and get u isolated during summer, it breeds, it will not smell, and it will not hurt u with any hemicals etc. Only downside is that is expensive but if u are going to invest in something, invest in good wool clothing.

Have you tried the Horizon - Primaloft Explorer Extreme socks?! I can't describe how great they feel, how comfortable.they provide perfect cushioning, without feeling super thick and generaly, they feel really high quality. I used these with my Hanwag Tatra II, that I had also changed their poor insoles. The feel and the performance I ge from the boots, is night and day, I wouldn't believe, that you can get that kind of crazy levels of stability and that comfort in the same time!
PS I haven't tried many others, only Hanwag Merrino hiking Socks. which suck! nowhere near, what Horizon are!! Literally, I can't imagine that better socks exisr. I could be wrong though! Anyway,Happy new Year!!!
