Thank you for sharing this with us. The owls are just so cute. I think I may make some holiday ones. I appreciate your detailed explanation and demonstration. Adorable little quick "hoots." Bless you.💖🍀🪺🦉
Thank you. I've made one in each size. I used crushed walnut shells for filling and the plastic lid of a "to go" container for the base. Because I like wristband pin cushions I attached the soft side of "sew on velcro" to the bottom of the 🦉. A 1" square is sufficient. I used "one wrap velcro" for my wrist. And because I like a pin cushion on my sewing machine I attached the rough side of "stick on velcro" to the top of my machine. Your instructions are perfect. Thanks again. My friends are asking for one now. 👍
I thought about making this into a pincushion too, but hadn't thought of making it fit on my wrist or attaching to the sewing machine. I like those ideas.
I just saw this tutorial. Thanks so much for sharing. I loved how you show every step and don't skip on steps. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern too. What a cute owl!
Great, concise tutorial. One point I would make is this: at 5m25s, you turn the fabric over before sewing the floral piece on the machine. I suggest, especially for a beginner, that this makes the sewing much more fiddly than it needs to be, considering you’re joining two differently curved pieces. Refreshing to see absolutely no hot glue gun!! I don’t have access to a printer, so a list of the pattern measurements would be very useful. Thanks for sharing… I’m making a huge owl today as a cuddle pillow and will be using your idea. EDIT: I just traced the pattern pieces from my screen… so it’s all systems go!
This was a really well made tutorial - you showed how to do every step along the way. I'm very grateful for it - thanks! Such a cute owl. The way you stitched the base on was very helpful!
Thanks Ellie for taking the time to share this! These will be great to use up some scrap fabric and maybe make some Christmas ornaments or even a nest of baby owls, pin cushions...
Fabulous- I’m going to use your wonderful pattern and tutorial to make some pattern weights. I’ll secure the beak as well as possible so I can use the head flap to pick them up and move them around. It’s also inspired me to make other animals!
Ellie once again a great video. Thank you so much for all the work and time you take to do these for us. You do such a great job explaining it to us and it is really easy to understand. So cute. Thanks again.
I love these little owls. Thank you so much for showing how to make them. I appreciate how long it takes to make a video with the editting, etc on top. I definitely plan to make some of these. I think I might use Xmas themed fabric and stuff with lavender or add some drops of scented oils to the stuffing and pop them in with Xmas gifts. They would make very pretty drawer fresheners. X
Thank you for this Ellie. A lovely little project. I started your top down sock tutorial this morning. I’ve never knitted socks before, so I was thrilled when it came up. Your explanations are clear and simple as always. I may well make the owls when I need a break from knitting. Thank you.
Thank you so much for such a clear and helpful tutorial. I've learnt so much from you in just this one video. I'm very new to machine sewing (just a couple of weeks in) and you have definitely given me the confidence to try these. Looking forward to watching more of your videos x
I know I'm a year late but thank you! You have taught me some new skills that other people have failed to do for me 😊 this is my first project I did with my new sewing machine, now my nanny can't complain about my sewing 😂🤣
Thanks Ellie, great “simple “ instructions, can’t wait to start one or two or ...... of these cute owls 🦉, as I’m listening there is an owl in my garden hooting.
Hello! Thank you for this Owl pincushion tutorial … I made the small version today … it was fiddly but fun! Mine is so tiny that I will use it as a needle minder … next time I’ll make it in the larger size … I’m with another commenter … would love to learn how to make your scissor minder! Please & thank you! 🧵
I’m gonna make these and put them on a branch! And then hang them in my sewing room :-) I originally seen this idea from better homes and garden RUclips video from 2012. But like you said the link is gone. Thank you for sharing your pattern! Because now I can make this project happen! Your owls are adorable!
Oh, Ellie this is so perfectly done! I've added this to my favorite videos playlist. Your speed, video and audio quality, and of course your skills are all excellent. Thank you!
Very cute, thank you for the pattern. Only thing I would do, if I were going to use it as a pin cushion, is to glue a decorstive glass flat rock to the cardboard for weight. I'm going to make this, possibly tomorrow. Thanks again. Very cute.
Wwll.mine didn't turn out so cute first round. And smaller that I thought for the big one. But I still love it. I will try again and be more precise on my sewing. I'm still learning to sew using a machine, so, I'm not giving myself a hard time. I used a 2 hole button, and put the holes sideways, so it looks funny. But it's still cute.
Great video ! I watched other Owl videos. Your video is my favorite. I am dyslexic, I struggle with some tutorials. Your instructions and teaching style are great. Thanks again ! I was looking for a little Owl for my daughter. ❤
