Its such a trope to stop the villain with the "talk no justsu" but Buffy did it SO well here. We have six seasons of this friendship to ensure this moment hits us in the heart
I'd say Grimm (2011-2017), since it was done by the same people that did Angel. Cast members from Angel even appear on it on occasion. However, in the show, Nick is only a year younger than Buffy, only you follow him in an establish adult life as a detective when his life starts unraveling from 'supernatural' occurrences. It's like if Buffy became a slayer in her late twenties, instead of as a teen. I enjoyed it a lot, and even considered it as a modern day Buffy (in a sense).
Even though it doesn't have a overly supernatural themes, I thought Umbrella Academy always captured some of the angst of Buffy. Each season has a theme and a "Big Bad."
Well I have a show it’s not exactly like Buffy there’s family and friends elements to it ………. And it’s titled…………………………………………….. “Marvels agents of shield” ❤
Agreed, it is very much Buffy but set in the Marvel universe, It even has a Whedon connection as the showrunners are Jed Whedon and his wife Maurissa Tanchereon.
interesting. I wonder how they will do it. Not sure I like it if they do a remake. It should continue with some returning characters (if they want to come back) and a new age of Slayer.
I'm always disappointed in remakes/sequels. But I think I understand why she wants to do it now, at this time--young women are facing pressure to confine themselves in traditional boxes and they might need a superhero female to look up to. To give the strength to fight restrictions others try to put on them.
You said you want a current show like Buffy but no CW show. You forgot that Buffy is technically a CW show, since The WB and the UPN network merged to form the CW. 😂 But a lot of people suggest The Magicians or Grimm when they want a current show that has Buffy vibes. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as well. But honestly the best Buffy substitute IMO is an older show that premiered a year after Buffy ended, Veronica Mars. Its not a supernatural show but its a detective drama, with all the twist and turns that you expect from Buffy, and the lead is played by another sarcastic blonde, Kristen Bell, in her breakout role that shot her to fame. Highly recommended!
I also thought the Dark Willow story line was longer than a few episodes, but I guess when I first watched it years ago, it was so intense, it felt like an entire season.
@@BigTimeKnights There are a lot of haters, but I think it's as good as any adaptation of a 80s-90s fantasy series for a modern TV audience could be, especially since covid hit while it was being filmed. There's a lot of great content.
For me, the two most badass lines of the entire series are from Willow. First is her “cause I’ve turned pro” moment from this episode. The other is from the finale of last season when she hits Glory with the “she’s with me”
Shows that have heavy story lines these days: I really enjoyed Umbrella Academy and I thought October Faction would last, but nope. I tried to watch The Boys, but it's wayyy too graphic for me.
@@larissabrewington9065 I love The Boys but the latest season is trying too hard to be gross. They really need to tone it down and just focus more on the great story and characters. I did enjoy Umbrella Academy but the third season or (pandemic season) was bad and killed my interest.

And so the world was saved with love by a carpenter... Again.

I like UA but the pandemic season took me out of it completely. They should've skipped it because the restrictions were apparent.

If you didn’t know Dolly Parton is a producer of this show. She said recently they’re reviving Buffy.

@@BigTimeKnights well before they had plan to make multiple spin offs. The rogue slayer (faith). The witch (Willow). And The Watcher (Giles).

@@dantesummers4048 I meant like current CW shows. :)
Have you seen Firefly? It isn't current but more recent than Buffy (especially the follow-up film, Serenity.)
@@YNergy yep, a couple times. Love it.
@@BigTimeKnights Dollhouse was good too
@@YNergy Watched that as well but I forget everything about it. I remember liking it and it stars Eliza Dushku.
@@BigTimeKnights it was a little too sad at the end. On a different note: Interview with the Vampire was amazing too, IMHO. Cheers and be well!
You can watch “true blood”

I think it would be cool to see your reaction to the Wheel of Time.
@@rfresa heard the show wasn't doing the source material justice.

I think Teen Wolf was the closest to it, but it has some very lazy writting by the end of it.
