As a player of the Italian, I’ve always searched for a sound defense against the Traxler counter attack. I gave up after experiencing many zero search results and just figured after setting up the fried liver, if black brought the dark square bishop out then the trusty liver was muted because the Traxler is just so devastating. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Agadmator! You never cease to impress.
@@popman-m7y Still doesn't work, Black just ends up attacking on the queenside with an open F file and the king on E7 (it's actually quite safe for black in the centre)
@@JoeeyTheeKangaroo yeah black gets counterplay but white is just up a clean pawn, once the position clarifies he has nothing to worry about, white just needs to play sensibly. also i think u meant to say kingside

Gj chess channel has an informative three part series on the traxler. At 3:15 move 7, he recommends Qh4 immediately, which threatens a swift mating sequence if white takes the rook, and if white defends properly, black plays Rf8 and enjoys an ideal attacking position. As Antonio mentioned, 7. Kg1 is the strongest reply from white, in which case black still has strong winning chances or a perpetual check
If I would play with white on this game I would scream internally all the time until last move and then some 5 minutes after.. This is traumatic to watch for positional player.. xD
6:10 I found Qe7 check. King has to capture the pawn as advancing would lead to Qc5 mate. So after king captures the pawn on B5, you have Rook captures on D5 with check. King to a6, c6, and c4 all lead to immediate checkmate, so Ka4 followed by rook captures on d4 with check. The night can defend but rook captures the knight in c4. Then, there is nothing stopping Qb4 check followed by B6 checkmate. .. Also checkmate in 6 so I thought I had it. .. ... Is a shame only about 4 people will read this and this might only get 2 likes.

One of my favourite fictional characters liked to say about his chess playing style: "If the king does not lead, how can he expect his subordinates to follow?" Seems fitting for this game...
@Agadmator 'Weekend Tournament' (Dutch: 'Weekendschaaktoernooi' or (shorter version) 'Weekendtoernooi') denotes a form of chess tournament in the Netherlands that consists of six rounds using the Swiss scoring system. Multiple different tournaments exists in the Netherlands that are classified as a 'Weekendtoernooi,' with some using that exact term in the name (but not mandatory.)
Crazy game! It's not too often that you see the White King in a safe haven on the a8 square. Plot twist; black was so frustrated that he couldn't think straight.
I have played that with b6 in 4:19 in my training two times per week with the champ in my country. He were a fantastic positional player and I had to play tricky and nasty and he learned to fight tactics (55:45 to him)
I didn't check all the comments, so apologies if someone brought this up first, but when black Bishop checks at f2 (2:34), black can get into real trouble if white king doesn't capture the bishop but simply goes to f1.
The only thing wich went wrong in the 12 games is Carlsen not pushing till move 40 in the last game bcz it was the only game beside game 1 in which a very strong player like Caruana could've blunder under time trouble.
