  • Have you ever grown Delphiniums from seed? These tall glorious flowers are worth a shot and when you can start a bunch for less than a dollar's worth of seeds why not Winter Sow the seeds! And for good measure, I also share how I show my Poppies in winter.

    I love that you share your garden as it is and not wait for perfection. It's something I struggle with- but that resonated with me. The garden is my escape -it's not supposed to be something that brings you anxiety. :)

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you! Yes, I hear you, I started to get caught up in it being perfect before videoing and it did start to cause me anxiety and since it is my escape as well I reeled myself back in. I would watch other videos of the perfect gardens and then remind myself, many of those garden youtubers have lots of help, they don't do it themselves. I want to keep it real for the home gardener and that entails accepting it won't look perfect or tidy all the time. And when you are just out enjoying it, whether it is supposedly 'view worthy' is not the point nor important.

    I'm a LDA and I just want to say, I'm so grateful for you that your dentist was so thorough! Not sure if you are a believer but the dentist I worked with would always say "God does a better job then we can" when ever things would change. It was like a surrender and every time I say that to myself I find peace with what comes of the situation.
    Advocating for our own medical health can be so important! Great reminder and thank you for sharing your message on it. So important.
    I will add you to my prayers.
    Ps. Love your videos you put out and I agree I love my garden warts and all!. If my garden looked picture perfect I wouldn't have room in the shed for all the put back tools! Ha.

    Hello Pam. I never would have thought that a dentist could have identified blocked arteries!! And why doesn’t our family doctors have those x-ray gadgets in their offices? They certainly have a lot of us boomers coming through their doors😂
    I just love delphiniums but they don’t survive more than 2 years in my soil. Do they need lots of moisture?

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  6 месяцев назад

      Two years is average for many of the delphiniums, most varieties are consider bi-ennials. Mine do well with average moisture and did not seem bothered with drought. I do have irrigation but it was restricted. The dentist didn't actually tell me I had blocked arteries, just that there was shadowing on the x-ray and I should talk to my Dr. about the possibility and to get further testing done.

      For starting the seeds I hear that a few weeks in moist soil in the fridge aids in germination. But to have them be perennial for you also takes some cold in winter, or so I have read. They tend not to like hot and humid conditions but I often push the limits of plants and try them before I write them off no matter what anyone says about them. Sorry I can't be more help.

    If I had a nickel for every time I told a person to go to another doctor I’d be a millionaire. Some of the botched diagnoses and/or ignorance stories are unbelievable. If they don’t know what they’re dealing with they should have the good sense to send you to someone who can. I’ve been a nurse for 50 years and I think I’ve heard everything.

Finding a primary care Dr around here is tough and to be fair mine, has tried just about every medication on me for high BP but I seem to react negatively to them all. I get angioedema with many meds anymore and it is scary. So if we can't treat it that way we really need to find the cause. I do know that is goes very high in winter as I have SAD and winter is tough to get through for me.
