It'll be nice to relax and focus a bit more on making neat-looking stuff instead of just brute-forcing production and progression through the tech tree.

I like the fact that we're getting both factions in alternating playthroughs. Good to hear that you're taking Mondays off, definitely wanna avoid burnout. Also side bar; why can't we call them Gundam's. If every time I think of a sealing via locking mechanism plastic bag, my brain defaults to ZipLock bags, that can't be trademark in my every use of the word since it would be like if someone "water™️." I don't think mobile suit, I don't think humanoid mecha bot thing, I think "oh wow a Gundam." In my analogy, they essentially invent the word we all associate with what something actually whatever form it represents, i.e. water, rain, ice, etc
The boring answer is that trademark genericization is a huge issue in the field of intellectual property law. It's why Johnson & Johnson eventually made sure to emphasize "Band-Aid® Brand Adhesive Bandages" in all of their official advertising and communications, because people just called anyone's adhesive bandages "Band-Aids". Same with Kleenex, Coca-Cola, Ziploc, Hoover, and even Google. Companies are required to defend their trademarks, or the courts can rule that the name is no longer their exclusive property. That being said, I'm 100% still calling the "Mobile Suits" in Kingdoms Reborn "Gundams" in tomorrow's video. 😂
It is interesting what we call things, I didn't see Gundam anime until after I had watched Robotech(Super dimensional fortress Macross), Voltron and Transformers, so when I see a mobile suit, I actually think Veritech Fighter(the Robotech term) and then get disappointed when I find out that it can't transform.
It's not as complicated as you might think! If you can locate the game directory, it's as easy as a simple drag-and-drop file transfer from your downloads folder to install BepinEx and Mod Manager, (which you can download easily online) and then you can browse and download mods right from inside the game. Might make a video how-to if there's enough interest.
Finally a series in a map that not everybody is playing. You should probably start now to build the decorative mod blocks to get that easy sweet early bonuses, there is a nice space behind the houses wink wink. Looking forward to this relax playthrough
@@JCTheBeard finishing up a folktail run now and got to 40 before using metal. You've got at least a couple mods though should boost well being that I'm not using from what I see
This is a great map, first one I ever played. There are about 20 source blocks and, once you manage to block off a few exit paths around the starting area, you can get insane water flow speeds. I think I had water wheels putting out 1000hp each.
That's the plan! I want to create a big industrial district right near the source blocks and utilize that water stream funnel technique that I think Skye Storm demonstrated and see just how bonkers we can go with it
@@JCTheBeard technique was nice, looking forward to seeing that here. Probably it's the stuff of about 10-15 episodes down the line. Also, a pity that skye stopped posting, still remember his giga reservoir
Nicely done, was fun to watch. I am currently doing this playthrough as well. I did this on hard mode, didn't get my first dam till quite late to be honest, it was nearly cycle 5 when I started it and didn't finish it till I was nearly at the drought of cycle 6. I instead started using Water Dumps. My first dam was a massive one, I went to the right island like you have and then went straight up with levee to the middle island and from there went straight up with more levees, I also placed a few levees to the left of the main island to block that small channel. Then I placed some Floodgates near my main island to allow water through so I don't flood myself. Also placed Floodgates at the top of my dam so I could let water out to the right in case I flood. Hope this helps, or watch a bit of S8 E2 to get an idea of what I mean.
this map is so friggin beautiful it was actually the map i planned on playing next when i finish craters we are of one mind too bad that water source isnt 50 blocks tho...
I think that's the perfect use for it. Of course I do plan on putting the full timelapse at the end of the last video, but we have quite some time to go before we're to that point.
If we call the high ground on the starting Island North and the spot where you have damns South from your District Centre, Then the last time I played this map I tried to control the water on the eastern side of the Island first before worrying about the western side, mostly due it being deeper water, and that there is a larger Island with a potential Lake in the middle of it after you demolish the rubble and put damns/gates where the rubble was. The Island with the lake was a good food production lake because it was easier to manage the water for it in the early to mid game.
Next episode we're going to try and dam up the entire corner of the map, so we'll see what that opens up for us. I suspect it won't be that difficult and will make farming and tree-growing a LOT easier.
Very nice! I know this is supposed to be relaxed, but would you consider not building „diagonal“ paths? It makes the beavers turn three times where one turn would suffice and is bound to slow them down.
Nice seeing Folktails again, for a change. I wrote some comments for efficiency - but you implemented most of them shortly after I wrote them. One remark for next episode: → Add some water pumps on the second island, where the lake is a bit deeper. This way you can also get water during the drought. → Set up the automation for the water pumps which don't have water during the drought, so you don't forget to switch them on. Also, contrary to all the other foods, I think berries don't give any well-being bonus, so you can as well remove them (as they take very long to grow).
I need to figure out how to get mods and get them working. I cant get them to even "register", so to speak, with the game. The ditch wind mill would be amazing.
I don't have links to them actually, I download everything internally through the Mod Manager that installs directly into Timberborn itself via BepInEx. I am planning on eventually doing a "how to" mod video where I can explain that process 😎
🐸💡 Should have built a 1wide reservoir touching land adjacent to food/trees once you had floodgate & levee. ... I suspect you are TOO complacent this playthru. ..... Question: can you upload & replace the timelapse video on RUclips after every __X__ videos without breaking it ❓❓
You can't replace an entire video file and keep the same URL and stats, no. It'd have to be separate videos. I don't think we need to be too worried about being complacent, we are on normal difficulty after all.
No, it is constantly adding screenshots to a specific folder as the game runs. Using the screenshots to make an animation doesn't affect the process at all.
Letss goooo, new timberborn series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸🐸
Always a great feeling!
Woop woop! I've been waiting for this series...! I'm excited to see where this goes

Excited for this. Thankyou for making me aware of the timelapse mod. I've made a few short videos from it using 1 hour pictures.
I'm really liking the results from it so far! I think it's going to be really cool to have the entire playthrough captured that way
@@JCTheBeard yes, seeing the long term changes is cool. The defocusing the mouse gets annoying so I might have to reduce the frequency

Yeah it seemed like a map that didn't get a lot of love on here, so why not?
Excited to see a new series start up, Thousand Islands is one of my favorite ones to mess around with for casual play.
I already have so many ideas! It's always nice to have a fresh slate after such a long series prior, I think it was 3 months?
With all these mods you can probably get up to a well being of like 50+ without touching metal haha
Maybe, I'm not sure if we can go quite that high as a lot of the new well-being stuff requires metal - but we're going to see what happens!
