Thanks for having me back on Marty!!!
Yeah, Marty. Thank you.
INSTANT...... INSTANT Follow! :) WOW! Such fascinating teaching!
@@raykellfoster8461 thanks!!
There are very few things in this world that I enjoy more than a properly placed Major 7 Chord.
Truth! My current fave is the E maj7 in "Under The Bridge" by RHCP at the end of the intro. It's perfect!
@@curiousguitarist that’s the only one you know isn’t it
@@Tiger-wi5mu mad?
Holy shat, that's the first song that comes to my mind when I think of 7th chords! It gives such a feeling of resolution to that part of the song...
@@Tiger-wi5mu LMAO
This is one of my favourite chords along with major 9 . These chords bring out the soulful R&B feel from the guitar, superb!
Chris, thank you for not just showing us but also for putting the tab up on the screen, it makes it so much easier. All too often it is difficult to see where the fingers are on the fret board with the camera dead ahead.
Again, more tears of joy!! Your a fantastic teacher! Thank you Chris!
You sir have earned a subscriber! What a great lesson! Thanks Marty for having him back on your channel!
Awesome lesson! For the E string root versions, I used my Thumb over the E on the A note, and the shapes were - small F shape (A major), Am shape (Amaj7), D shape (A7), A-major shape (Am7), and Am 1/2 step down (Am7b5). Just how my brain works. 😂 ✌🏼
Finally understand why Marty is such a good teacher…. This guy is amazing, a lot of info but with a nice pace to take it in without getting boring.
Great lesson. With you and Marty both teaching guitar I’m learning a lot. Much appreciated. Awesome guitar by the way!
I really love your tutorial.you are one of the great tutor of youtube. Very useful lesson.
OMG ! What a great vídeo, so easy to understand a learn. Thanks @Chris Sherland and @Marty Music for inviting
Excellent , very helpful!!! 🙏 greetings from Greece 🇬🇷 ✌️

I love your videos everyone of them. You have taught me well thank you
Hey Marty keep up the good work brother..you have taught me a lot thank u
Brilliant. Wish I could have you a personal teacher along with Marty 💖🇬🇧
Been playing for years and am embarrassed to admit I didn't know this stuff. Wow. Breaking a plateu here. Feels great. Thank you Chris for sharing this info and Marty for building the platform for him to share his knowledge. Appreciate y'all!
That makes too much sense, so much easier to learn where the shapes come from instead of just trying to memorize them, great lesson again Chris!
Another amazing lesson! Thank you Marty!
Thank you Marty for Chris. And thank you Chris for Marty! Full circle, baby.
This was really helpful. Thank you so much
Great instructor! Clear, concise, practically applied!
Great lesson Chris, thank you!!
We need more vids like this for sure
You saved my life cuz how simple you made this Ty🙏
Amazing tone and tips. Thank you.
Haven't picked up the guitar in years and this was a great refresher, thank you!

Intro was beautiful! Thanks Chris
You bet, Rajesh!
That was cool, and Chris is a natural in front of the camera.
Very helpful for me Thank you 😊
Yes! Thanks Chris. Glad you are back on.
Thanks Christopher! hope all is well!
@@curiousguitarist yes sir. Just extremely busy. Wrote a few songs and have been working on the chord progressions. Trying to get my rhythm and then my chorus down to the vocals. I sang it during a soldiers, songs, and voices virtual get together. Someone said it definitely sounds like something coming out of Nashville. So that stoked me a bit. Lol
Love your lessons just so right!!🎸 Can you do something from the Doors? Thank You.....Hello Chris!
hey!
Hey Marty! Can you please do more stones songs?
Thanks in advance!
Great lesson.
That was a sensational vid !!!
Great video!
I love the p-47 on the strat, beautiful jugg
Hey Chris, great to see you again. I actually saw Marty pop up and planned to ask him about finding you again. I have been wanting more theory and I lost you. I have very poor eyesight. Happy Thanksgiving to you both!
Can't wait to try these on my low tuned 7 string. Hopefully this translates well if not I'll arpeggiate the notes individually and figure it out
I kept looking at your arm and your green guitar, and thought, this isn't Marty! It's Chris! Awesome.
Cant go wrong with Chris. The double 0 7th of guitar! Cheers!
Haha, thanks Anders 🙏
thanks this was a great lesson, just wish you would have shown the open string ones also but hé, cant have everything for free I guess.
Great lesson.... I heard others on RUclips "Hey just play a C#m7" but never showed us WHAT it was! Now I know... 😀
Chris is amazing. Phenomenal teacher.
Thanks!
This is one nice voice!
I started learning guitar roughly five years ago. In this time I've developed a funk style and sound. I've gone where it's taken me. I'd love to be more like Eric Clapton, or Robben ford. instead my playing sounds more like something Earth wind and fire would do. Either way I'm grateful to have an understanding of the guitar and to be able to play. We are always learning and The road is still plenty long. Hopefully with time I'll be able to learn the styles that inspired me to pick up a guitar.
Thank you❤
Please note that on Maj7 chords (A bar) you can play the high note on the e string to richen it up
what model is this this is the most wonderful guitar i‘ve ever seen
Thanks for simplifying 7chord shapes!
You right at that, I am a beginner don't know how yet to do bar chords 😞
very interesting stuff
Wow dude this really helped
Great but when is the best time to use it
thank you
For E shaped bar chords. Could you just play he 5th interval on the A string for Dom7 and m7? Or not play the 5th interval on the B string?
Bro this video blew my mind
Hi Marty! I would be so happy if you make a lesson of summertime by Janis Joplin, omg that solo!
Hey marty, could you please show us how to play unshaken from red dead redemption 2?
Awsome! Thanks alot . What about minor chords as a root what would the other 2 chords be would they be all minors or would it be 1 minor as a root and the other two as wholes? Like for example Am D E or just Am Dm Em?
please do a lesson for song 2!!!
You two are like Shaq n Kobe the amount I sustained tonight is crazy
Once you get into this, some funk and jazz you can sound reallllly good
Thanks for showing us how, but I need to know why? Why is it 7? Is it you changing the 7th note in the scale? What's the reason for the 7th, just like 5th? What makes it that and for what reason, and how does it apply?
Marty is it possible that you do a cover on the guitar solo from uncle Remus by Frank Zappa? I can’t find one anywhere
Definitely going to have to drill these into my brain
You guys are really great teachers. Thanks a hundred times.
Since you did this video on 7th chords could you please do an intro to jazz guitar? I have friends in jazz band and they want me to learn so can play with them. Also WHO DOESNT LOVE JAZZ AM I RIGHT?!?!
So yA LIkE jAzz?
Hey Marty, i'd love to see you do a tutorial for Burn For You by John Farnham. Amazing sweet song be warned it's an extremely hard one dude =P I think you'd be up to the challenge of learning and teaching it though
But when should or can I use these
This saved my ass
Wait. How's Marty's guitar teacher when he was in college still younger than Mary? 😭😭😭😭😭
So cool
Marty hit us with some buddy guy bro.
Are you playing a fender strat power house deluxe?
Any chance you could teach us how to play A Farewell to Kings by Rush?
Great video. But the whole time I’m watching it I can’t help thinking it would be nice to see that fretboard get some love and attention to restore it like new. But I’m sure it plays great just the way it is and you’d rather not mess with what works.
Every ding on that fingerboard was earned under fire in clubs and stages. When I bought that thing it was brand new. And when you look at it, know that I keep it clean too, that isn't dirt, it's combat damage!!
I think it's plenty of love and attention that made the fretboard so worn in the first place
@@curiousguitarist That fretboard is like a fine wine, gets better with age
Make a cover from belinda by marcus and martinus marty would be nice 🙏
People need to know that a 7th chord is simply the 7th note in that key added into that chord for major 7ths....and for for dominate its same note just flatted so down a half step or 1 fret.....so a cmaj7. Has the 7th note in the key of c in it plus the regular notes in a c chord
where did you get your decal????
What’s the difference between A7flat5 and Bflat9?
Here I am again, I can never get too far away from home.
Kiss Me, by the Sixpence None the Richer has some nice 7th chord progression :)
He knew you when you were just a pup! He helped create the monster!
Much easier than what I thought it would be!!!!!!!
Right? I remember when I learned this, I thought the same exact thing! "This wasn't so bad!!!" 😁
1:45 At this point, most channels would say "before we start, don't forget to like and subscribe...!". But you didn't, so I did.
Steely Dan songs here I come!
Sound
Marty you should do the time warp Rocky horror picture show how to play on guitar tutorial
Oh wow....I don't think I've EVER seen a tutorial on that one. That's a GREAT rhythm guitar part. All power chords too....easy peasey!
I know I've seen where Justin Guitar has a tutorial on it if that helps you at all.
@@hunterprice3320 thanks man I will search it up
All the arpeggios sounded pretty much the same to me so maybe I’m not cut out for this lol
i don't get it where is the trick?
Can you do “Frogman” By Whiskey Myers
For a second, I got the same feeling I got when I walked into my classroom and noticed that we have a substitute teacher today. 😆
No hald and fully diminished!? Lol
i can only do min7b5 with my thumb on the E ....otherwise u gonna gimme RSI!
My struggle is making my fingers create the shape...
