My husband made me a wooden yarn bowl for Christmas a few years back. His hobby is woodworking. It’s my only yarn bowl. I love it for balls of yarn!!

    That llama is stinkin' cute!
Since she can't be used as a yarn bowl, maybe keep notions in her.
    Have a great day. 🐞

My experience with yarn bowls is pretty much the same. And I agree, they make a nice gift.
You are beautiful. I love seeing everything behind you, too. 🧶💚
    I'm praying for y'all ❤

I bought my yarn bowl with a lid at a garage sales for $6. The Etsy sellers info was still in the bowl. When I looked it up, I found similar wood yarn bowls were listed for $125. Since I’d never spend that amount on a yarn bowl, it was a great bargain. Since I enjoy woodworking, it was a win win for me.

A long, long time ago, when I got married, a typical wedding present was a silver plate bowl. I have three - all in different sizes. They work really well as yarn bowls. My favorite bowl is an antique dough bowl that holds three balls of yarn. I suggest going to a thrift store and finding a pretty bowl or basket to use. I also use small project bags to hold yarn cakes.

Hi Summer. This is the perfect time of year to visit the $tree and look at the cute Easter baskets. I use a good size one that’s plastic and the handles fold down as my yarn bowl. As long as it’s bottom is flat, it will sit anywhere. No need for the annoying twisty thing.

I like the unicorn one lol. I like that it has the extra holes too so you can do colorwork. I have a sheep one. I haven't put my mustache sticker on anything yet lol.

I am not a big yarn bowl user, but I love yarn holders. Especially the type that spin. I have a few that my husband made for me. I saw a wooden yarn holder on another yarn channel. She bought hers on Temu. I liked it so much that I ordered one for myself. It only cost $11 and it works so well. I think it will be my go to yarn holder from now on. Very nice and easy to put together.

When I wanted a yarn bowl, I just went to my kitchen and grabbed an old Pyrex bowl that I hadn't used in a long time. No "loop-de-loop" necessary, and didn't cost me anything.

I love your new crafting space…😊
The dream catcher you made is cute--your daughter will love it!
I’ve never tried using a yarn bowl, but have seen them in stores. It’s more fun to chase the skeins around the sofa and onto the floor…😂🤣😂. I don’t ball up my skeins--I pull from the outside, so it gets interesting from time to time!
Don’t worry about your double chin…….you are so cute and I don’t even notice it…☺️. I’m 70 and have what I call a chicken neck. Both of my parents had it as they got older. We can’t do much about our genes!😂😂
Hope Flynn is doing ok for now. Sending prayers for you and the family….✝️🙏✝️
    ❤-Brenda

Good morning Summer..It;s 7am here in Cincinnati. Thanks for sharing your yarn bowls. My favorite is the one that you made yourself. Another option is to use a coffee can. Air quality alert. So glad your new space is ready for you to use. It looks nice, and I know you are going to enjoy it. I live in a very small one bedroom apartment, so I am generally on the chase lounge in of my small couch. Id to keep the things I need for project in a basket. That works pretty well.
Oh, I thought I would try out a Pryn crochet hook, just to see if I would like it. Turns out I really did not like it at all. The shaft is way too long and the handle does not feel comfortable in my hand. My hands are pretty much Child size, so I stick to my tulips, and my wonderful clovers. I also like my beautiful wooden Knit Picks radiant hooks. The only problem with them is that their size is not marked on the hooks. I actually put a tiny sliver of blue paint tape on the one I use the most. Good grief.
Wishing you a beautiful day, filled with many blessings. I continue to pray for Flynn, and hope that all is going well with him. Please keep us updated on him.

I use a pyrex bowl, it's heavy enough to stay. I was wondering about the yarn bowls, but I probably wouldn't use the squirrelly thing either. But they are pretty, using one for stitch markers and whatnot would be cute too. Ty for sharing this info.

I’m with you Summer I like using a well thought out yarn bowl. I have a favorite one that’s ceramic , I got it at WI sheep/wool festival from a potter who does beautiful work. The holes (as I understand it) are for color work yarns that you may not need through an entire project. Your new space looks great!

I have the Llama and she's adorable but thet's where I throw my measuring tapes, stitch markers and row counters, She. is only good for decoration! LOL love looking through your yarn bowl collection. I've used a styrofoam bowl with a bull clip often for yarn bowls!

I think the 2 holes in the big yarn bowl are for yarn. Just like the Joann’s yarn holder, once you stick it in there, you can’t stop until the yarn is gone.

Wal-Mart sells Cheeto balls in a plastic gallon plastic jug. It's tall and big around enough to hold the larger skein of red heart.Ithas a screw on lid and I melted a center hole. Love it

I'm not a fan of yarn bowls as the yarn seems to jump out. Now I use a 'yarn genie' which I bought from Amazon for less than $15. It let's you use the yarn from the outside, and you can easily change skeins.

I always thought the little holes next to the swirly thing on the bowl were to feed yarn through. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have one of those big Yarn-It and I love to use it when I’m crocheting in bed.

I think the holes are for thinner or bigger yarn that wouldn’t fit in the swirly hole.
