My sons beat up their backpacks 🎒 They will definitely watch this backpack review. Please do another backpack video a month before school starts. My boys especially my oldest have a hard time looking for great backpacks. Great backpack review.
I'm a fan of North face backpacks. I'm an engineering college student, I can fit in 3 textbooks, a notebook, my 13.5in surface book, 3 folders that are packed, portable charger, ti-84 calculator, mouse, bunch of pens/pencils, led, headphones, and have a spot to store my hats/gloves in the winter or a sweater if I want to take it off. Carry a 32 oz hydro flask as well as a 20oz shaker protein shake for the gym, and I carabinier my lunch onto it to carry everything. Can't quite fit my gym clothes/shoes/shower stuff tho with all the other gear I have in there so you'll need a separate bag depending on your load. I'm commuting everyday from home to campus (I'm there for about 7-8 hours/day Monday-Friday) and I've had the backpack for the past two years it's held up very well. I've even used it in the summer for day trips and such. Organization is awesome, tons and TONS of compartments with a huge main pocket. Big plus is the huge front mesh pocket where you can just toss stuff in such as headphones, gloves, hats, sweaters, jackets etc. It's super convenient and once you get used to it you'll never want a bag without it. Like I said it's held up awesome being packed to the brim 8/12 the past 2 years. No tears or missing zippers. Check out northface, a bit pricier but definitely worth the quality.
If your kids beat up their bags, you could also try giving them a lesson on how to take care of their belongings. Take them bag shopping with you instead of just buying a bag for them. Let them pick a bag they want. Instill in them a sense of ownership and responsibility for their bag; tell them that you’re not going to buy them another one for two years (any backpack should last at least two years, with good care most backpacks should last 3 or 4 years before they start fraying out). If your kids wake up with new backpacks whenever their old one breaks, they’ll become entitled. It’s better to get your kids to become responsible and invested in taking care of their belongings by letting them feel a sense of ownership and autonomy over the backpack. I apologize for back seat parenting but as someone who has tutored at a private school, I’ve seen too many spoiled rich kids who act entitled to their parents money with no sense of responsibility.
I have the Ebags, and I absolutely love it! It is a little too heavily padded, but it has a place for everything! It looks professional, and is very durable.
I bought a Tigernu minimalist backpack off Amazon a year ago...use it everyday, has an external USB charger and pockets for storage and also came with a small travel pouch for all those loose items. I think I paid like $10 for it and it has been an absolute steal. Definitely impressed by the bag after a year. Great video though Jud, you have the cleanest style of all RUclips tech channels IMO. Keep up the great work, love seeing honest reviews. Also love that you hit on different price points, gives us small timers some great options.

Have you personally put these backpacks through field tests? The only reason I ask is because I was wondering how they hold up in the rain. I feel like the ones with the USB plugs would get destroyed on a rainy day.
I just picked up the ebags slim! It's an awesome bag, easily carries a ton of gear and isn't uncomfortable to wear like my old Osprey bag. The bottom zipper compartment is perfect for a Tech Survival kit 😉

I love my eBags Professional backpack, one of my favorite bags, they do need to redesign it somewhat though, the laptop section is too thick and eats up too much room, a deeper bag that kept the same features it has would be amazing. I think I have 5 different eBags bags at this point among other bags.

I'll be completely honest man, that INCASE backpack is still the king in terms of design, functionality and durability in my eyes. I haven't seen DBS Brolly yet, I don't know where to watch it lol
I have the eBags TLS packpack, I loved it for my first 3 years of college, but for my senior year I had a lot more actual books to carry. It's great as long as you don't have a lot of extra stuff other than tech to carry. That front bottom compartment carried my mouse, laptop charger AND my wired xbox 360 afterglow controller. During my last semester I switched to the origaudio presidio backpack which is just AS good as the ebags tls, but is more practical for school, tech, and travel. I still use my Origaudio pack right now for work as a Performance Engineer @UrAvgConsumer you also seemed to have missed the dedicated laptop sleeve between the main and secondary compartments

I like Backpacks with a eyeglass slot and more pockets to make your own gadget bag with you battery packs to charge your devices.. I ride public transit so I have to carry too. I use a Case Logic myself.
I have the eBags backpack and I love it. I’ve had it for over two years and use it everyday for work. I travel with it as well. It’s durable, slim and looks great. It also has slim, soft lined tablet slot on top between the two main pockets. Love it.

I'm finding it so hard to find a bag I like. So many of them have massive, empty spaces that seem to be designed to just throw random crap in, but I want pockets and more pockets. I don't want anything going in it that isn't being held in place. I want it to hold 2 laptops (15 and 13), tablet, ereader, 4 handheld consoles, and for each of these to have their own spot. and I want all this WITHOUT it being bigger than it needs to be. This stuff on it's own doesn't take up that much space, but the only bags I can find with the pockets to hold them also include giant, cavernous empty spaces to also transport a small dog.
eBags Professional Slim bag is the best one out of all these. Hands down best build quality and design. I've been using it for the past 14months and it's held up pretty well to 4 different countries travelled and dozens of airport abuses. I work as a Field Engineer for an Aerospare company and need a reliable bag that fits all my gear and the eBags has been my favorite out of dozens of bags i've used.
