The Chosen Yoshi Gone: Is New Philip Better?
HTML-код

- When Yoshi, who had played Philip in The Chosen Seasons 2 & 3 announced his departure from the show, a lot of people were disappointed, and mostly because they couldn’t figure out why. Dallas said, “Yoshi was let go.” Now, did that mean he was fired or he was allowed to leave the show?
For the last two days, I made some polls on my channel’s community section, asking The Chosen fans what they thought about the new Philip and whether he was better than the old one. Here are the responses. And I’ll tell you about my own thoughts towards the end of the video.

I'm not going to compare these to talented actors, no way. Even though I'm a huge Yoshi fan and I followed him as soon as he joined the Chosen, I wish him well. Reza deserves the right to create his idea of Phillip out of Yoshi's shadow. Since I grew up watching Soap Operas growing up from time to time a role was taken over by another actor/actress many times you just go with it and a few times the new actor ends up becoming iconic to the role. Let's give Reza the grace and space to create his "Philiip" for us. I saw him at Chosen Con and he's very nice. Welcome Reza!
Yoshi had gotten the role of Jesus to play in another movie that has since been released. I'm sure that was a hard decision to make. I liked his laid back manner in playing Phillip. He was the Gerry Garcia of the 12.
Yoshi was perfect. Tough, super tough to follow. Wish there had been no change. Unlike the Big James change. Definitely liked the actor change.
The new Phillip hasn't even gotten much of a chance he had such a small role in season 4.
I loved Yoshi and will miss him. He was a strong Phillip
It’s really unfair to compare Yoshi and Reza. I mean he is a new actor and he is just getting comfortable with this project and also the fact that he doesn’t even have that much screen time. It really can’t be compared and probably now most people would have Yoshi as their preferred actor but I strongly believe some opinions will change over the next few seasons.
(Ps: thank you for this video and giving viewpoints to both sides of peoples opinion and not just one sided!)
Thank YOU for watching ❤️
That is exactly how I feel Reza hasn't gotten much chance to shine yet, he was barely in season 4.
I preferred Yoshi
I loved Yoshi he was great. The new yoshi of course isn’t as good cause Yoshi was the first. You always love the first of anything. It will take time for the new one to make his own place in chosen. Dallas will bring him in at proper times for us to get use to him in time.
I agree that since he was the first, he'll always be loved more, but maybe the new Philip will shine in the future seasons and make us forget Yoshi. Who knows?
They changed big James and that was as fine. I actually forgot the one we have now wasn’t there in season 1. Why???? Because he embodies the character.
The new Phillip does not but hopefully he gets better.
There were 2 different actors for Big James in S1! If you blinked, you missed one of them. I did!
I think there was 2 or 3 actor changes for Big James, but yes the change was so seamless. I really did not noticed it until I saw another reaction vid.
I knew I was going to miss Yoshi from the get-go. I love so many of his scenes. He became a cherished character for many and this is in no offense whatsoever to Reza Dekas (the new Philip). Philip had a more noticeable smaller supporting role in S4 and Reza acted on par with everyone else. S4 was very focused on others, like Thomas and Judas, with moments in between with other characters we have met before but this time got to spend extra time with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, and that vignette with Jesus, Little James, and Thaddeus. 🩵 SOON
I believe Yoshi wanted more acting time. You have to be VERY humble and confident in the product to want to stay in the background when you can be the main actor in another film. Some mentioned that after The Chosen he should/wanted to play Jesus in another film. And The Chosen needs people who are 100% behind them without wanting to put themselves in the spotlight.
I wonder if that is the reason. I know he played Jesus in another movie and maybe that caused some issues. I really liked him as Philip. He was so relatable. I hope everyone will give the new guy a chance though.
I saw somewhere where he had commented that he didn't have much time to learn the amount of lines that he had and also I think he had some disagreements with Dallas about the way Dallas was directing. I saw interview where yoshi aluded to that in an interview which I kind of thought inappropriate. I did think he had a sweet nature on screen especially with matthew. Hopefully we'll get useful to new Philip. I actuality like the new big James better.
This is interesting but we'll never know for sure
I liked Yoshi, but I guess we got to give the new Phillip a chance, but the first had some good humor, and gave Matthew good advise. We'll see. THE SARGE
The old Phillip was much better!
I love Reza! I hope they give him more scenes going forward.
Yess!
I think that it doesn't matter who plays Phillip because they are just playing that name part. So that is why the movie can go on. Because any one on the sat can be replace. Amen.
Plz do a video on Elizabeth Tabish!
Would love to know more about the chosen cast!
Hi, thank you for the request. I'm taking notes! Meanwhile, I have videos on The Chosen cast and I shared a few facts about Elizabeth Tabish in those videos. You can check my "The Chosen Cast" playlist :)
I preferred yoshi as Philip but he didn't have enough speeking scenes to notice. The only thing I miss is the hair. Back in that time men usually have long hair
Read all the reviews and I miss Yoshi
I liked the first Philip the best.
I loved the big james from season 2
I liked the first Yoshi!!!
I miss Yoshi 😢
I love Yoshi.
hey hey hey!
2 minutes!? love the video!
Thank you soo much!
@@thenextseason hold up! can we do a total girl moment and just squeel
behind the screen XD. (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)
Yoshi was a good friend of Matthew 😢
I loved yoshi in season two. He was so whiny in season 3 and it bothered me.
He was a bit whiny towards the end I agree
So sad they had to switch. The old Philip was the beat
Yoshi🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yoshi was performing for other future jobs as Jesus I believe he did ply one already
Phillip -the new one is different; I’m getting used to him. Philip is mentioned in Book of Acts, so I hope to see more in scenes after Jesus returns to heaven.
If I am honest I was not fond of Yoshi and I do like the new Phillip much better. I felt Yoshi had a different idea of who/what he thought Phillip should be, more than what the writers were asking for and that he was kind of full of himself.
Hmmm...Interesting
Yoshi is irreplaceable. Not Reza's fault. It will never be the same.
Liked the first one. Like the second one. No impact.
That's great :)
Nothing against Reza. It’s just that Yoshi was perfect. It’s difficult to top that.
Preferia o Yoshi 😢
I believe this actor playing Philip is just fine i used to think the other was a little to forward in his mannerism.
Hmm, this is the first time I hear this type of criticism
@@thenextseason not criticizing at all just analyzing I am the chosen biggest fan and wish everyone great success now and future
Yoshi probably called them out for some of the things they do that is not Christian.
Please explain what your are referring to about doing things that are not Christian's
@@cathybrown4102There are quite a few lines that aren't in the gospels and were added. Imagining the story line is one thing. Adding to the words Jesus spoke is totally different. I'm not talking about the normal conversations they have. Example, "I am the law of Moses." Jesus NEVER said that. That's Mormonism (which is a pagan religion). He said He came to fulfill the prophecy and shed light on what/how the law was meant to be obeyed. You can also notice the difference now that money is becoming a bigger issue with the show. None of them are any better than us. They all have equally fallen short.
The New Phillip hasn't been given a chance to shine yet.
Raza has no chemistry with the cast. Nobody can replace Yoshi. Bad decision on Dallas's part.
Yoshi was the only one could play Philip! He was so laid back and able to do any type of scene! The new one is bland and boring! Not even close as far as personality!
Maybe we need to give him some more time
Useless, senseless, absolute waste of time and energy to compare actors!
Please focus on the intent of the series' characters and story-telling!
This whole thing is an unwanted distraction and has, for me personally, ruined the show.
