Have listened to this more than once. Thank you. Reminds me of when I was 10 years old. My aunt, a quilter, took a color theory class. We sat together one day, she brought out her fabric swatches, and taught me what she had learned in the class.
With fabric, in addition to hue-value-saturation, there is also the sheen of the fiber and weave. Black silk satin shimmers in a way that yellow wool plain weave never will.

With access to such valuable content, I can't very well consider myself "self taught". This lesson was just what I needed, just when I needed it! Thank you!

Thank you Mark , that was really interesting , I love how a bit of fully saturated chromatic colour makes a painting come to life and sing

Wonderful ideas! A technical question: did you use gouache or acrylic gouache? I love painting with gouache, but haven't tried it on anything but paper, and usually alone or with colored pencil or watercolor, but never with acrylics, not being sure how they work together.

I am so sorry I missed this question! I work in acrylics (usually Golden and Nova Color).
