What i find interesting is all the coils and settings you have to have with the 5000 to find the same thing with a single dd coil and the press of a couple of buttons and the atx is waterproof. The atx also doesn't require a harness to carry the battery.
though I had some problem with sea water It also ruclips.net/user/postUgkxa-FNYUOM93a388gi9a4brtSCEVmrHgJH land for finding any things very easily. (thought it would work as normal due to it being water proof within certain parts of the detector), on dry land and sand worked well. My first one, so still have lots to learn
Bearkat....a big thanks for all your fine videos on the ATX. In my opinion your videos are unbiased and accurately show how the GPX compares to the ATX. It is pretty clear that the ATX with the DD coil is perhaps equal or better at finding fine gold than the GPX and only slightly less so at finding large nuggets. I like the simplicity of the ATX. Yes, I understand that the GPX can match the ATX and exceed it by changing coils and settings but the fact is no one ever knows for sure what is under their coil! My ATX will arrive this Friday and I can hardly wait. Your videos helped me make the decision on which detector to purchase.....an easy decision really......thanks.....jim
another excellent video, im sure you have seen the latest ML news, with the new machine...... that happens to be similar to the ATX, im impressed with how the ATX rolls. It would be interesting to see how the new ML Machine stacks up.. HH
Another great comparo Bearkat - the ATX 20"x15" mono would scream on that nugget with factory settings Sensitivity 10/Threshold 7/Volume 10 - hope you get your Deepseeker soon mate! Well done and HH! Warren.
howdy bearkat, I'm getting ready to move to Medford and I was wondering if you can tell me what's going on with the 2017 dredge season ? did they ban dredging or something ?
That gold has had some serious battering, hasn't it? I like a metal detector with the control box attached to my waist belt. It remove the extra weight when the box is attached to the sweeping pole and it is easier to see all switches and LCD screen or needle gauge. This way you can sweep the ground longer before you tire your arm. I have a 1976 Whites Coinmaster 6000D converted to hip belt mount. Sweeping the coil is much lighter, plus I can read and pin point a target better than when the control box was on the sweeping pole.
If you would have used the mono coil on the ATX, it would have sounded on that nugget at 22+ inches. Good comparison and thanks, but maybe next time use the same type of coil on each unit. Mono coils always detect deeper than dual coils.
OK so the big question is which is the better detector, I am in western Australia and was considering the ATX but now I am undecided what is your opinion Thanks Craig
BEARKAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! GPZ 7000 Baby!! I know its either crossed your mind, or its in your possession! I cant wait to see your vids on that machine! I saw a couple vids already and it seems very similar to the GPX 5000. So I was thinking an ATX vs GPZ vid if that doesn't sound a little to crazy? $2,500 vs $10,000!!!
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
My SD2100 Minelab could have detected that big nugget easy with my 18 inch mono coil. It all depends on the soil on well it detects for any machine. I have manual ground balance on my detector which I think is the best for deep nuggets or anything deep enough for the coil to pickup. Thanks for the video. That GPX is a nice machine, but 5000 dollars buys a lot of beer.
I think, the biggest problem on the GPX is a stupid metal shaft.......Great video!.I am a Minelab guy but that ATX is awesome.Soon I will buy one. Thanks for the video man!
Saludos desde Ecuador 🇪🇨 Buen video, ¿ a cuantos metros de profundidad máxima llega el GPx 5000 . Con la pepa de oro que tiene ahí como prueba? Gracias 👍
Get the NEL Coil for the Garrett or the Minelab and you will get another 3-4 inches . Then you will have to go back and do all your old spots . Type in NEL Coil on You-Tube . Lot of demonstrations . NEL Attack Coil I think might be the best .
I want to ask if we looking for the same nugget you have whats the maximum deep level for the gpx5000 as you know sometime the seller telling it will reach 2.5 meter for treasure but who looking for that we hope to find only some small gold coins
Thanks bro.I've seen a few videos and reviews of the atx and I know it can be a good machine to prospect for gold.i'll definitely get one of these soon.
Hey Bearkat4160 what do you think will be better for a wooden box full of golden and silver coins (pirate treasure)? gpz7000 gpx 5000 Golden King DPR PLus or Garrett ATX Thanks
I am a beginner and I'm going to buy a detector in the next month. I'm not worried about saving money but I am deeply concerned with the highest quality and not missing anything large or small. What do you suggest? I live in Arizona. The ground is pretty hard, rocky and sandy in parts which is where I'll use it. I'd also like to take it to the lake from time to time. I will be out treasure hunting several days a week.
I own a 5000. I find half ounce nuggets that is deep as he's banging on that great big one. If you shop around you can pick one up for about $2,000 that's all I paid for mine with four extra heads.
Air test should be air test not in hole air test. Why ground balance on the ground then run the detector over a 18inch deep hole? Most detectors would react to just the hole anyway.
So its clear . You pay for what you get here .The ATX could have missed that target worth thousands of dollars if it were an inch or so lower. But the 5000 would have still stung it easily .If anyone is concerned about not getting the upper advantage then by all means buy within your price range .But how much gold in big pieces will you walk past and not even know because you lacked those extra inches of penetration. The GPX was considerably louder that the ATX by a long shot ,not as you said by a little bit ..We can hear everything on the video ,that target was obvious on the GPX but faded a hell of a lot on the ATX .Even when you lifted the 5000 above the rgound by 5 inches it was still an obvious signal..But the ATX lost it after say 2 inches
not really a fair test as the minelab had a mono coil which will go deeper than the 2D garrett coil...put a mono coil on the garrett and i bet it will equal the minelab at less than half the price !!!!!!
I mean that's a good test but if I had the garrets I would've not dug it it seems the minelab is quicker but if your swing speed is fast would the Garrett's still hit the signal
I did a 13 part series on these two detectors, with the other items you described but mainly gold nuggets of all sizes. Check them out on my channel...This was a LARGE GOLD NUGGET TEST, duh, ya know, like the title says... "the nugget is way too large"....hahahahahahahaah. Never heard that one before. Man, ... some people.
Bearkat i would love for u to show me how to work my atx ... i had a go of it the other day in the vic gold fields and only found shell casings and ... and buck shot .. i think i need to find a better place where there is no rubbish
Keep at it man! I run my ATX on full power! Threshold at 9. For max depth and if it stable enough area, I run mine in non-motion mode - gets a bit more depth, say about 5-10% more. But usually the motion mode on max is good enough. It will get 92% of what the GPX 5000 will hear in motion mode.
After watching your video, I think I'll go for a Garrett. I am hunting for gold nuggets in the Jimi Valley of Jiwaka Province, PNG. My problem is how do I buy that machine in PNG. Am also looking at buying online option but not sure if I'll get the actual model and if it will work exactly as it is intended. Appreciate Some ideas on where and how to get that machine into my country.
hello !! try this, gpx setting large deep gold!!!!! special:sharp GB:fixed Audio tone:28 motion:very slow audio type:deep stabilizer:3 track speed:slow i waiting video comparisons for this setting, i do not think the garret is a serious machine.....
Hey, I know. How about leaving that nugget in the ground, tell me within a few feet where it is and I'll try my x-terra 705. I promise I'll give it back, some day, reallllly, I mean it, I will. Just want to see if I can find it, really
No...size, shape, and orientation are all factors, which will change how the detector reacts/sounds. There is no detector that says gold or silver is down there.
The gpx range are copied from a GFX originally made for prospectors in Dubai and made in Guangdong province in China I had one 13 years ago when I was teaching there. At least the Garret was made in the USA and Not technology developed in China. You got to give the Chinese credit for that. They are tech savvy
It seems the ATX is a bit better finding small gold than the Minelab gpx/ gp detectors w/ DD coils.... but it takes an awful lot of fine gold to make 5.4oz's. It also seems to me that if you had been searching for hours or even days in noisy ground, you may have missed that big slug with the ATX, where only a deaf person would have missed it with the Minelab.
You must remember the GPX has a mono coil on it...BIG difference in depth...because I put the ATX 8" mono on the ATX and it hit that big nugget better than the stock ATX DD coil. Mono's are just better at that big stuff. I'm trying to get Garrett to make a 10"x12" mono coil for the ATX to get closer to the GPX Mono coil depth. That's all it was...
Bearkat4160 Ah! sorry I missed the fact the GPX was running a mono! I'm not trying to down play the ATX.. in fact I've been hearing really good reports from people in the field. I Just personally feel that the minelabs with there extensive line of coils, aftermarket included, you get a solid machine with lots of options, and with years and years of testing behind it. And lets not forget you can pick up a GP extreme, SD or GP 3500 maybe even a GPX 4000 for less than a ATX. I've got a GP extreme and 4 coils including a NF 20" mono that I'm in for no more than a ATX. And FWIW I've found 5 gram nuggets @ 18" with the big 20" coil no problem! Good Vids BTW!!
golfnstuf Yep the GPX stuff is the KIng of the hill...no doubt about it. I'm just trying to give people another more affordale option that should still find 90% of the gold a GPX might find. The ATX is a high end machine for less cost. But like you said some people might want an old SD or Extreme for still less and more coil selection than the ATX...theres room for all these machines!
interesting comparing the two .peoople in Australia prefer the minelab in the different mineralised soils etc.would like to see the same test with very small bits of gold...i think minelab will run rings around the garrett
Wait, what!? "A Woman in Trader Joe's without a mask video" got me to this channel? LOL I was just discussing digging for gold with my Manager at Trader Joe's. hahaha I want to this. Wow!
Dee Smith For finding jewelry, the best detector is: TITAN GER 500 (Long Range Detector). Ability: 1. Find Diamond. 2. Find Any Gemstone and Jewelry. 3. Range detect 2500 meter Horizontal, and 35 meter Depth (TESTED). Check video on youtube "TITAN GER 500"
i think they are all overrated for their price, they wont find alluvial creek gold even if there is grams of it in a patch ,and you have to be within 1-2 inches away from a solid gram without any thing obstructing it.i have an at gold totally disappointed in it ,maybe i expected to much from it,but i wouldnt buy a dearer one for what im doing with it.might work on big nuggits.
does anyone of this detector product could offer me.. to make a vedeo for treasure hunting here in philipines... so that your product could be popular here.. most of people here interested in yamashita treasure... so lets get started with your metal detector exposure... maybe GARRET OR MINELAB..
Is this "PRO" wearing STEEL CAPPED boots ? (or boots with STEEL EYELETS??). BIG NO NO. First rule is to take of and METAL, GOLD RINGS ETC. Just a tip for new starters. Cheers from Australia. PLENTY of gold here. Fuckin everywhere.
Thanks for your video. In wet areas like New Zealand the ATX being water proof to 10 feet adds an advantage to the ATX.
What i find interesting is all the coils and settings you have to have with the 5000 to find the same thing with a single dd coil and the press of a couple of buttons and the atx is waterproof. The atx also doesn't require a harness to carry the battery.

Yeah, I am very curious to know how the ATX would do with the 20 x 15 coil as well.
the atx requires ground balancing too but you just turned it on and hovered it over the gold
Bearkat....a big thanks for all your fine videos on the ATX. In my opinion your videos are unbiased and accurately show how the GPX compares to the ATX. At last some one can see the truth on what happens on the gold fields i have a 3500 but i like the way the atx works
I have both machines. The atx is my go to machine. Where as the more expensive minelab I think was way to much money for what it is.
another excellent video, im sure you have seen the latest ML news, with the new machine...... that happens to be similar to the ATX, im impressed with how the ATX rolls. It would be interesting to see how the new ML Machine stacks up..

Minelab $4000 Garret $2150 big difference in price and not too far apart in performance.

howdy bearkat, I'm getting ready to move to Medford and I was wondering if you can tell me what's going on with the 2017 dredge season ? did they ban dredging or something ?
Really intrigued about these gold detectors lately!
These are old detectors, the video is 10 years old.

How many hours do you think it took to master the gpx 5000?
Good evening. What do you mean? I liked Garret better. Here in Brazil it is more accessible.
Need the same kind of coil.if the ground is full of iron you have to use a concentric coil not a mono.gpx will punch way deeper.
OK so the big question is which is the better detector, I am in western Australia and was considering the ATX but now I am undecided
what is your opinion

@Jamison Jude instablaster :)
Hey can you tell me the vicinity of where you are? Is the southern CA? or where
How r u , where r u. Beau. Just watched you short film with Randy. Most excellent.
Cool, thanks

Would like to see that test with the GPX 6000???
What about if there is a big ass coin 35 grams of gold? Please help i need to make a decision asap, with which i am getting it!!!
So, what did you end up getting?
Hey, like your videos, but just wondering what you think about the Infinium vs the ATX, both with the 8"mono coil?
qyray No contest - ATX much better with 8" coil. Smaller gold and deeper with the ATX.
qyray
Bust out the gold bug2 ... ide love to see a comparison of gpx vs gold bug

how much is that machine?

you didn't set the at first..i know it's louder than that
guys is it possible to put some settings on gpx 5000 only for gold or silver?
No...size, shape, and orientation are all factors, which will change how the detector reacts/sounds. There is no detector that says gold or silver is down there.
I see ferari vs zastava ugo.
The gpx range are copied from a GFX originally made for prospectors in Dubai and made in Guangdong province in China I had one 13 years ago when I was teaching there. how much the 1 gram of gold
you need a 3meter wide detector so you cover more ground
It seems the ATX is a bit better finding small gold than the Minelab gpx/ gp detectors w/ DD coils.... but it takes an awful lot of fine gold to make 5.4oz's. Thats why FREEPORT as the largest gold mining in the world stay in Indonesia.
Gee id like to know if the atx mono 8inch would hit that depth. Before i buy one
TheStogie0102 Yes it will! I'll give you a good deal on an ATX when you are ready...
yea got the atx just not the 8 inch coil......... but since that comment I got one.
who wants to come here in Philippines?
Hw much a GPX metal detector
Why not coverit up and get a true test?
How much that nugget worth if you don’t mind asking you
About 1400 an ounce depending on when ya check, it varies alot from year to year. Usually around 40 a gram. This is us currency BTW.
I'd like to see a small nugget buried near by aswell and see which one works better on both targets without set up change :)
interesting comparing the two .peoople in Australia prefer the minelab in the different mineralised soils etc.would like to see the same test with very small bits of gold...i think minelab will run rings around the garrett
Wait, what!? "A Woman in Trader Joe's without a mask video" got me to this channel? LOL I was just discussing digging for gold with my Manager at Trader Joe's. hahaha I want to this. Wow!

The ML and the ATX units may find gold. But so do the White's....for a under a third of the price.
+SunriseBoy For a newbie which White would you recommend?
As a female I like the idea of finding jewellery rather than bullets and guns!
thanks

For finding jewelry, the best detector is:
TITAN GER 500 (Long Range Detector).
Ability:
1. Find Diamond.
2. Find Any Gemstone and Jewelry.
3. Range detect 2500 meter Horizontal, and 35 meter Depth (TESTED). Check video on youtube "TITAN GER 500"
do you have deeper than 18nch?
Why do you call Metal Detectors "Puppies" ?????

i think they are all overrated for their price, they wont find alluvial creek gold even if there is grams of it in a patch ,and you have to be within 1-2 inches away from a solid gram without any thing obstructing it.i have an at gold totally disappointed in it ,maybe i expected to much from it,but i wouldnt buy a dearer one for what im doing with it.might work on big nuggits.
got to love minelab..lol
