In 1980, there was a van being driven around New England, with drippy spray paint in huge letters, that said: "GG Allin & the Jabbers - The Worst of Punk."
@@josephsinsalot Ya - I was driving the van {- and did the paint job myself, too}. Manchester, Boston, Portland, New York - even a gig on the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, in Kittery, and a memorable one in a huge garage in Milford, NH, a giant structure in Hicksville, filled with bikers and assorted "red" {GG's word for un-cool people} people, with the band situated at the far end of the barn-like structure, so the band had to move through the crowd to enter and exit. It got a little tense when the crowd of a couple of hundred people started pressing in closer and closer to the band, with no retreat should things turn ugly. Ya, a fight or two broke out, but no harm came to the band. As it happened the band and GG were So Fuckin' Good - and intimidating - that when their set was done, the crowd PARTED in awe and reverence when we left. That one was Real Cool. Nobody said a word, they just looked and stepped back. It was like Moses crossing the Red Sea. I also vividly recall, Mr. Mud, that GG was face-down in a little mud puddle at one point, on the concrete floor, and rubbed dripping mud all over his face - a precursor to what was to come. {He wasn't bleeding onstage, yet - and he remained fully clothed, AND sang great! He wasn't drinking or doing drugs - other than smoking pot with me - at the time. They did complete, amazingly great, LOUD sets, never getting kicked out of anywhere! Early 1980 - he was Wicked Cool in those days, and that band was just Fuckin' Great. GG was even singing - really SINGING! - covers of, "California Sun" and "GLORIA", and closing the set with Iggy Pop's, "I Got A Right".} Put a lot of miles on that van - and David Peel was in it, too, when the LP was being recorded. GG paid Peel to travel to NH and stay at his place in Manchester while the album was being recorded. Fatties were passed around redundantly.
Jim Danger Rt on. I have a crazy ass story regarding gg in WV in 91 but unlike your times together there were drugs, nakedness, and lots of random violence. Plus, we were merely acquaintances; whereas, from your stories, I gather that you must of been relatively close friends. Good times
@@josephsinsalot Yes, we were close from early '80 'til around late '83, then got in touch again in fall of '92, 'til he croaked. {If you've heard, "Hangin' Out With Jim", I'm the Jim - me and Jim Beam both, actually.}
Mike will this ever be reissued on 12"? CD discography is cool, 7" bootleg is bad, but it's still vinyl, and most of us will never be able to buy original one. Someone really needs to put this masterpiece available again.
I met Mike in the late 90s or 00s I know he had been in jail at one point, awesome guy bought records off him, talked music he worked a vintage 2hand store in Red Bank NJ, the drummer I for get his name died like maybe ten years ago if I remember right he had a wife and kids which is really a shame , this record got me into deep into 80s NY and NJ hardcore forever grateful
The drummer was my dad. He made some music with Mike the guitar player under the name heavy liquid. They are all still around except my dad. Not sure if the other dudes did anything else.

Though that is cool, it's a bootleg. OG is a 12'' on the infamous Mutha label.
