Youre a great instructor. Great piece. But why did you not finish painting around the tree? It would have looked great in a grey- blue or the same black so the tree pops out. You can also try a really dark red as a background or undercoat to the gold just like they did in ancient times. Also have you tried not using talcum powder so the clay can stick to your canvas without the glue? Thanks for sharing.
