    I've played tons of acoustic guitars and I really don't think I've ever played anything under $1000 that sounds and feels better than my 10e. I have never even plugged it in. It feels like butter in your hand and sounds amazing. I played about 15 guitars blind at guitar center and had my wife keep handing me ones while I kept my eyes closed. This one sang to me and went home with me immediately. Do yourself a favor and try one.

    Amazing how people try to present this as a 'beginner' guitar. After playing this and other guitars 3x the price the 10e sounded way better. This is a damn fine guitar for ANYONE.

    Just bought the 10e yesterday, and love it. I have a bigger Taylor, and was in the market for more of a travel guitar that I could take to the beach, camping, easily throw in the back of the car, etc. I was initially torn between this and a GS Mini Mahogany. I played all the different tone wood GS minis, and liked Mahogany the best. However, after picking up this simple small scale dread, I realized this is exactly what I wanted. In my opinion, the tone of this trumps the GS mini by quite a bit. Very balanced, and more bass than a GSM, while you still get the classic Taylor bright sound (not too overpowering). The beveled arm rest is very nice, and makes it easy to play for hours. Looking forward to taking this thing out and about, and with how comfortable and easy to play it is, this might be the guitar I play the most now.

      Tuna Korkmaz this is like a $650 guitar, you can get a good sounding acoustic for like $200-$350 but it won’t sound this good. Taylor’s are the best sounding guitars out there. So not a “beginner” guitar in my opinion.

    I played one these today at my local music store. As a beginner, I was impressed with the comfort and ease of play. The action was comfortable and chords rang out true without any buzz. Not at all like the Ibanez v50 I've been trying to learn with. I am considering getting one. Just have to justify the $599 to myself.

    • @leesamuelson
      @leesamuelson 7 лет назад +1

      well look at it like a long time investment. If it plays well and sounds good( which these do bought one for my boy and I own a 814ce but love playing this! ) then it is price that is worth it. With a good playing and sounding guitar you will practice and play more than with your Ibanez. I know this! plus quality! same build quality and neck design as the high end Taylors. IF it ever needed a neck reset can be done in around 20 minutes. The Ibanez?? throw guitar away as it is not worth the price of a glue in reset.

      @@jonahkidwell702 I can help you justify your purchase. In EU the academy costs 699 euros(best price from the internet). Thats 100 euros more. The Taylor 114e costs 799 euros and the Taylor 114ce 899 euros. Also the diy neck reset makes these guitars a bargain if you consider the second market value and the average salary in USA.

    I paid $689.00 for mine plus PA sales tax, and that was the going price early in the year but now I see this guitar is on sale. I just got mine the beginning of the summer time and it's a really nice playing guitar, and I chose it over a Gibson Semi Hollow Body Electric that sold for $1100.00. This guitar fingered smoother, felt better to hold, and is amplified so best of both worlds. Strum it at the beginning of the neck for a sharper elec. guitar sound or let it mellow out and strum it over the hole, that is my take on this guitar. I got mine at my local Music Store which has been around for 30 years where I got my first ampeg as a kid and they showed me this and 4 other guitars after I had laid out my parameters of roughly what I wanted. I like it as much, if not more than my Fender Stratocaster Solid Body Electric 3 pick up, but they both have a place on their stand in my music room.

    I just tried this guitar at a Guitar Center. Surprisingly it sounded better to me then the next level up 100 series. It just has a fuller more resonating sound. I don't know if it has to do with Sapele vs. Walnut, or maybe because this barebones design has no polished finish on it which lets it vibrate better, but I can literally feel this guitar resonating when I strum it and the sound quality is beautiful.

      The GS Mini is a smaller guitar with a smaller scale length. It's a great guitar. But if you are new to guitar, you may not want to train your hand to the smaller scale length, as the frets are closer together and makes playing some more advanced stuff a little tough if you have a bigger hand or longer fingers.

    I believe you are quoting Taylor's website by saying it's 4 5/8 " deep which would make it the depth of a full size dread but it is definitely not. It is closer to the depth of a big baby. Put an A10 next to a full size dread and compare depth, the A10 is closer to a big baby depth than it is a full size dread.

    • @1funkybasslady
      @1funkybasslady 3 года назад

      @Johannes DeMoravia The guy was just observing what was true. The mic was TOO close to the guitar, and the recording engineer didn't set the recording level accordingly. Andre's improper spelling of "too" was obvious, but perhaps this is due to an incomplete understanding of English which, by the way, is one of the most difficult languages for foreigners to learn. He didn't need your criticism. That was rude of you. By the way...as long as you are going to criticize him for his spelling error, you might take a look at your own sentence about being "too" close to the fire. You said "If I get "too" close to the fire I gonna burn up." "Proper" English would dictate that your comment should have read "If I get "too" close to the fire I'M going to burn." Don't be so quick to criticize others! This is supposed to be a friendly place for folks from all around the world to feel free to post their observations, questions, concerns, etc. about the content of the videos without fear of being pounced on for their grammar or spelling errors.

    • @1funkybasslady
      @1funkybasslady 3 года назад +5

      I just bought the Taylor 10e yesterday to use as a "couch guitar" that I don't have to worry about while at the same time having a very comfortable guitar that plays with ease and sounds great. I can leave it on a stand for handy practice - just grab and play. I have a few very high end Martin dreadnoughts which I have to be very careful with in order to keep them pristine. Of course this Taylor doesn't have the tone of those expensive Martins, but it still has a very respectable full and resonant tone while being Uber-easy to play. Fingerstyle? That is the only way I play! Love the response of this little guitar for finger style. I do wish the fingerboard width was 1-3/4 " at the nut, but I don't have any problem with this fingerboard at all. My old worn-out arthritic fingers love the easy action of this neck. The A12 is theoretically designed more for fingerstyle, but I have found that the tone of the dreadnought body gives me the fuller, beefier tone I crave, and the lows don't overpower the highs as is often the case with dreadnought body guitars. Perhaps this is because this 10e is a bit smaller than a full sized dread. Best advice: Go to a Taylor dealer and try the different models side-by-side and see what you think. You'll love the Academy series Taylors. They are great sounding, easy playing comfortable guitars for a great price.

It's not correct you need a high grade top or it simply can't last very long as the dynamics are out

      The guitar comes strung with 12-53 Elixir light 80/20's. If you liked the tone of the guitar when it was new, replace the old strings with the same strings. Be sure to re-string the guitar properly so as not to kill them prematurely. If you are not sure how to do this, watch the video on the Taylor website.

      @@smrob I'm not sure what you mean be "stressing the strings" but it IS important to crimp the strings at the peg before cutting them off in order to keep the wraps from slipping resulting in killing the strings. Try different brands of strings to find the tonal response of the guitar you are looking for. Good luck!

      Really easy. It's quite a short and narrow feeling neck. Action is relatively low for a an acoustic. Honestly love mine. The value for money is unreal. I bought mine new but they can be had now for even less second hand. The only thing is that it doesnt look flashy in the slightest, but if that doesnt bother you go for it

      I wouldn't say either of them is necessarily better, However the Baby is 15/16 size so less money goes into it. I think the best way to make decisions like this is to have someone play you an audio sample of each without telling you which is which and making your decision based off that.

    There's one big problem for this guitar - the Martin Dreadnought Junior. Same price, same size but solid wood construction and sound/plays amazing. The Taylor Academy should be at the very least 100 cheaper for it to offer good value against the Martin.

    • @bebertease
      @bebertease 5 лет назад +5

      The Dreadnought Junior doesn't sound better than this guitar despite its all solid wood, it's just different. Martin guitars have lower finishes than Taylor guitars around this price range. And above all, I prefer the neck construction of Taylor guitars: no flaws, no humps, very easy to reset when the guitar gets old.

      Hey Virgil, Taylor chooses to use a pickguard or not as an aesthetic choice. They offer clear and tortoise shell pickguards as an option that can be purchased and applied after the fact. There is also a static cling option.

    Great review, lovely instrument, but - don't believe the hype about all that 'entry level' stuff. Cut your figurative teeth on some cheap beast with the strings a light year from the fretboard. It strengthen up yer hand a treat and you'll learn what a good guitar isn't and how to work around glitches, so when you get a decent machine you'll be more knowledgable, and most importantly will glide like a ski on black ice.
    Just a notion.

    • @1funkybasslady
      @1funkybasslady 3 года назад +4

      Most people who would take your advice would become thoroughly discouraged and quit before they ever had the chance to experience the true joy of playing guitar. The pain and inability to get a decent sound would be a huge turnoff. As a professional music teacher for more than 50 years, I have always advised parents of my students to get the best instrument they could afford in order to avoid the MANY problems associated with cheap crappy instruments. While it is true that if a person learns to play well on a poor instrument, once they get a great instrument they are astounded at how much better they play (I know this from my own personal experience), the challenges of learning to play a musical instrument are many -- without having to deal with an inferior instrument. This can lead to the person giving up thereby missing out on a skill they could have enjoyed for a lifetime.
