why am i keep getting the [Errno 22] Invalid argument
process finished message when i try to use the attributeStats

yeah. same thing. i also see quotes (") in path to attributeStats.py
python "C:\Program Files\Eclipse\Sumo\"/tools/output/attributeStats.py "C:\Project\tripinfo.xml" starting process...
python: can't open file 'C:\\Program Files\\Eclipse\\Sumo"\\tools\\output\\attributeStats.py C:\\Project\\tripinfo.xml': [Errno 22] Invalid argument
process finished

Oh! I fixed it. u need to move the sumo folder so that path doesn't have any white spaces in it.
In my case i moved sumo folder from "C:/Program files" to "C:/" and changed accordingly.
