    I agree with your cut and dry response about the Oracle lights. I got into it with them over their rear bumper reverse lights on my wife's JL because it is well known that the driver side needs shaving down to fit. After removing as much material as possible it still wouldn't fit and their only solution was to send me another set when I asked for a refund. They pissed me off so bad with that experience I won't run another oracle light on any of my vehicles.

  • @andrewtippitt6469
    @andrewtippitt6469 9 месяцев назад

    Love my Oracle bumper lights. Have been running them for about 3 years now. 2 years in a steel Rubicon take off I bought. They did require grinding. I went in like a bull in a china shop with a 4" grinder like a bench grinder and it popped right in. Recently picked up the Flush mount Oracle. I put off buying them because of the year shelf life. Im hoping im the exception on those but thats not typically my luck.

    If you’re looking for cast knuckles. An alternative to the Mojave knuckles is Reid racing knuckles. Eventually I will probably go with them as I think mine would also benefit some from the drag link and tie rod flip. Even though with a 3.5” lift they say it’s not needed my steering geometry is still a slight touch off. And that’s why I think it could benefit. My draglink and track bar even though adjustable is still not exactly parallel with each other like I would like. I love my Clayton overland plus lift, it’s been great ! Love your channel and the adventures y’all go on and always look forward to when you post new ones.

  • @anthonymissirlis3710
    @anthonymissirlis3710 9 месяцев назад +1

    for us normal folks ( that aren't sponsored ) , in my opinion it would make sense ( for me anyway ) to buy the sport instead of a rubican since i'll probably end up removing most of the factory stuff and add about $40k-$60k in mods anyway 🤷‍♂ . or am i wrong thinking that ????

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  9 месяцев назад +1

      The only thing you're removing is the suspension unless you're swapping axles too. The biggest benefit of the Rubicon other than factory lockers is the transfer case.

    • @JEEP-N-DIRT
      @JEEP-N-DIRT 9 месяцев назад

      absolutely the best idea if you're watching cost especially with today's prices. That said, still depends on your overall build meaning if you're doing much of the work yourself. Take off axles even 4:1 transfer cases can be found at great prices given the amount of people out there who have deep pockets and swap this stuff out a year after buying one new. But the 4:1 is great if you're crawling ALL the time but as long as you're geared correctly AND you have the incredible 8 speed transmission then the torque converter and first gear take care of alot. I know someone will chime in here and say you'll bind in severe crawling etc... but again as stated above, "depends on your build" . Note: By crawling all the time I mean places like the difficult trails in MOAB and some parts of the Rubicon.

    Hey really enjoying your channel. My question is I currently have a leased 20214runner that just is coming to lease end. In the past year and a half ive been getting into more off-roading and am starting to look at suspension upgrade as well as tires. Im at a crossroad of do I want to stick with 4runner and start building that or do I want to get a jeep gladiator with the eco diesel? Both vehicles would be financed however the gladiator is a little more to get into up front but looks like for parts and such I'll spend a lot more on the 4runner for parts upgrades. What do you recommend coming from the jeep world? I've only recently thought of switching once I saw that parts are expensive and don't want to have to swap in a couple years. The one reason Ive been looking at the diesel is better torque and fuel economy. I want to do 35's if I go jeep but its super hard to do on the 4runner and would probably end up with a 33 or 34.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  9 месяцев назад

      Everything you’ve said is accurate. I think the key thing to consider is the type of trails you like to run. if it’s more technical trails, the jeep is the obvious choice. if you enjoy more scenic and less technical trails, I’d probably stick with the 4Runner as it’s more comfortable.

    Question for you also. When you had trouble with the auxiliary battery. Did you keep your key fob near your gladiator ?

      @@OzarkOverlandAdventures I’ve done a lot of research on this exact issue. My fob is never near mine except when I’m driving it. Knock on wood I’ve not had any problems in 41k miles. But from what I gather, if the fob gets within if I remember correctly 30 feet of it. It so called “ wakes “ all the electronics. Which can lead to excessive drain on the battery if it’s staying woke all the time. Makes sense….with the new gladiator in the fleet maybe it may help.

      I did a video last year on that very subject and it was around 106k. Now it's probably 115-120k with the additional upgrades since then.

    Not fair to talk about component delta with already upgraded front end components.
    We want to hear about stock components, vs upgrades, over miles traveled.
    Regardless, and with respect, proper 80 series (Toyota Land Cruiser) components out perform and out last Jeep components 5 to 1. This distills to the fact that buying a 3xl 80 series with factory components remains the better buy all day long.
    Regearing can be done 2 ways:, 1 - as you did, regear each axle.
    Or 2 - regear just the transfer case.
    Otherwise axle locks (and t-case lock) can be had standard (from factory, OEM) on specific 80 series Land Cruisers. No need (or additional cost) to add them.
    Overland build is personal preference and can be diced 1000 different ways. Clearly yours is geared toward pickup configuration.
    That said, your insight is invaluable in that regard. To include Jeep aftermarket component comments.👍

      I ran factory steering components for years before switching to the steer smarts. I've talked plenty about stock vs upgraded components. That's not the subject of this video. 80 series are awesome... if you can find one in good condition. It's the only Toyota I would own. But a lot of people don't want an old SUV with outdated technology. You're just making up that 5-1 number. I also own a Wrangler and have owned 5 in total versus my 1 truck so my knowledge base spans both SUV and truck builds.

      Chuffed to see a response.
      1) Agreed, the video isn't a direct response...tho you have to know alot of guys are looking for redemption/confirmation bias for their off-hand Jeep purchases.
      But I run a 3xl 80, so not looking for any sort of similar consolation.
      2) "Good Condition" is an American issue. An 80series can be revived in any county, from any condition, to a reliable state w/o question.
      3) The 80series is an SUV by all definitions.
      4) Outdated technology...lol. New tech is inferior off the trot. Grow older and you'll see. Hopefully it won't be too late till.
      The 5 to 1 ratio... is not made up. Should you stay with Jeep products and keep track of the numbers... I'm confident the ratio will stand true.
      Still look forward to off roading with you. Stay safe and God bless till then.
      Cheers!

    You’re not far from the correct prononciation:) Atelier Expédition Aventure is a French company name , from Quebec, Canada. Try not pronounce the “r” at the end. The end of this word have the same end sound that the color grey “ey”. You will have it right the next time !! Ateli”ey” 😉

    Of course you’re going to have issues with it, and the V6 minivan motor. Jeeps start to break down completely around 100k, while Toyota’s are just getting broken in. Just go look on the used market and the absurd amounts of jeep

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  9 месяцев назад

      Keep watching because if it starts to break down after 100k miles I'll let you know. I always find it funny when people mention Toyota reliablity considering current 4th and 5th gen 4Runners and 3rd Gen Tacomas have broken down far more on our trips than any Jeep has. On pavement a 4Runner will outlast a Jeep every time. But take them offroad and it's a different story. The current gen Toyotas just aren't made like they used to be.
