- Wanted to share a version of 'Under a Willow', a Russian folk song famously performed by Pelageya, which was adapted and arranged for The Undeclared War series by Debbie Wiseman OBE.
**The version heard throughout the series was performed by Evelyn Bates and myself, directed by Debbie Wiseman and Peter Kosminsky, recorded at AIR Studios, London.**

Amazing voice and song!
Even without understanding a single word this choice of song and voices was great. It gave so much underlying emotions to the scenes. Desperation, hopelessness, powerlessness, looming danger. Just the voices gave an understanding of what it's about and hearing them brought tears and goosebumps to my eyes more than once. Thank you for this performance and enrichment of my life.

@@violetverigo Thank you. I had already searched for a translation myself. My first comment was referring to me hearing it for the first time without any translation. P.S.: I posted this before but with the wrong account :D
I couldn't have put it better myself, I felt the same why which is why I looked it up. This in the scenes gave me that feeling of being sat on a summer evening watching a large thunderstorm on the horizon slowly move in and surround me.
this applies to all soldiers who have died, it doesn't matter where or where in the world they died in the line of duty
Really glad Peter chose you to sing this song. Anything or anybody less and the script would have struggled. You really carried the show for him!

I think the most poignant time that this plays is when some soldiers from Royal Signals are the ones hitting the "enter" button on an attack on Russia, and they're doing it cause being in uniform means it's a military act. That blew my mind.

Putin did not build military bases near NATO countries
This song is incredibly annoying and ruins the scenes it is played on. The Undeclared War is excellent but I have to try and ignore it or turn off the sound and read subtitles. The suspense and tension are dissipated by this terrible choice.
