    Thanks for the comparison tests. In my 40 years of TH'ing I have found it to be in my best interest to dig all targets thus remove any possibility of missing any good targets. On top of that I recycle all the scrap metals that I dig and use the funds to purchase accessories after paying for the detectors. This is a time consuming task but most of the farms that I searched in Northern Virginia have been very happy with this process. A reduction in farm equipment damage i.e., flat tires, broken mower blades, etc. So by doing this everyone wins. Now I know what many will say, I can't dig a hundred holes in someones yard because it will mess up the grass! This is where everyone needs to improve their digging skills. I have 4 Whites metal detectors; a XLT, Two DFX, and a TDI-SL and do not plan to move to any other brand. I run my DFX most all the time and use the preset Relic program with either the 950 or 10"DD coil. It is nice to know that the MX-Sport can see 10 or 12+ inches down but many times the ground is rock hard and all of impossible to recover any deep targets. Getting deep targets on the beach is great as it is a lot easier to dig. LOL I hope to purchase the MX-Sport in 2017 so we shall see! Thanks for the comparison tests. ;-)

    When using any detector it is always good to check iffy hits by moving 90 degrees and swinging again,, always hit from different angles and use the shortest sweeps possible.

    What was that loud persistent tone in background. I especially noticed it on the MX-5 when you did the first test. It sounded like the loud scratchy noise of a transistor radio. Can that noise be adjusted out?

  • @DigginArkansas
    @DigginArkansas 8 лет назад +4

    Why didn't you have the mx5 in two tone on the nail test? And how did the mx sport do with the horizontal nail. I run the 10" d2 on my mx5 in two tone and It will perform better than tested.

    Could you describe what tracking is. I noticed that you said the tracking could not be locked on the MX-5. Thank you,

    The MXT only 9.5" on a quarter? Either I have the two hottest MXTs on the planet, or this test is a little fishy. Both of mine, in an air test, with the 10" DD, one an MXT, the other an MXT Pro will hit a quarter loud and clear at 11 1/2" very near 12. The same on a nickle. Not taking anything away from the sport. I'm sure it's a fine machine. But lets give credit where credit is due here.

  • @CarolinaCoinHunter
    @CarolinaCoinHunter 8 лет назад +2

    Wow. Nice test. I have to say one thing that really impressed me was the MX5's ability to read a target under the nail when it was long ways over the quarter, parallel to the user. That's very unusual for a machine with a DD coil. I have five machines next to me that won't do that. Very impressive unmasking ability.I've seen that a concentric coil will still sound of with a composite signal in a situation like that, instead of completely nulling out. I would like to have seen that part of the test done with the MX Sport. The recovery speed is fantastic. This looks like a winner.

    • @ronalddvorak1967
      @ronalddvorak1967 8 лет назад

      +Carolina Coin Hunter , Maybe it couldn't unmask the quarter with the mx sport so they turned the nail the easy way.

  • @metaldetectingguy
    @metaldetectingguy 8 лет назад +3

    The better test would have been to set up ALL detectors with an equal coil. And for this the eclipse 6x10 DD would be first choice as it is available for ALL 3 models as White's states. Having 2 different 10" DD coils will not say they work equal. The old 10"DD round is a waste of time in my opinion as I had 2 of them and did not like their performance .
    But may be White's is doing a "better" comparison video?
    Anyway, wishing White's a good launch of the MX Sport.

  • @tnbackroads
    @tnbackroads 8 лет назад +2

    How much of a difference would it have made in your air test if you would have put the 10" DD coil on the MX5? You made a point to swap the concentric to the DD coil in the tracking demo but left the concentric coil on for the air test.

    • @WhitesElectronics1950
      @WhitesElectronics1950  8 лет назад +3

      +tnbackroads A similar-sized concentric coil will give you better depth, that's why we left it on for the beginning. The difference is the "peak" depth in soil - concentric coils have a conical pickup pattern, where dd's have more of a squared-off one. So at the center of the concentric you will be a little deeper than the double d, but off center the dd will be deeper. If we had swapped the dd to the MX5 for depth it would have read closer to the MXT.

  • @ChrisB_NC

    Thank you for a great comparison video. My only issue is that you didn't show the MX Sports recovery with the nail on top of the coin horizontally. For the other two machines you showed the results with the nail both horizontally and vertically, but with the MX Sport you only showed the vertical results. Why is that? Did the MX Sport not do well with the nail in the horizontal position? If not, why not show us? I have been extremely excited about this machine for many reasons, but mainly because it's a waterproof Whites machine. I am absolutely dying to get my hands on this machine, but I need to know how it recovers in that situation. Thank you for a great video and thank you for what appears to be another fantastic White's product.

    DD Coils? Or are you comparing 1DD and none of the other 2?

    • @treasurekings5631

      They did this because the MX Sport is their newest detector and it comes with a DD coil. The M5 had concentric coil and that is why he switched out coils on it.

    • @PeterWrinkle
      @PeterWrinkle 8 лет назад +2

      +White's Electronics, Inc. Why do you say "Constant" ground chatter? Mine doesn't chatter no where as much as my friends MX Sport. Sounds as though you're saying you made a bad machine with the MX5. The MX5 is weatherproof. I won't be going underwater no time soon. Looks to me as though the MX5 was right there with it in depth. Why yours was chattering that much ... I'll never know. The MX5 out did the MX S in separation and i have witnessed this first hand. I have quite a few White's machines and the MX5 is my favorite. Not my favorite out of other brands, but White's. Put the MX5 in two tone and you will see it will run side by side with the MX S if not better. It ( MX5 ) sure isn't nothing like this video ... LOL ...

    • @deanedward2379

      +White's Electronics, Inc.
      I agree with PeterWrinkle ... this is a not-so-well-hidden mx sport sales pitch. The release with a firmware glitch that has required a large recall pretty much caused me to decide that the mx sport needs time to prove itself before i will replace my mx5. I have a dedicated high end water machine thats good to 250 ft. so the waterproof aspect to the mx sport is a moot point for me.

    The relic mode goes deeper on the sport

  • @usminesweeperukminesweeper350
    @usminesweeperukminesweeper350 8 лет назад

    What you are seeing is not quite true, The MXT Air tests a Quarter between 12 and 12.5 inches, and if I changes my coil it will see it at 15.5 inches.
    Even with the standard coil using the 3 Tone set up it will signal it up to 21 inches and with bigger coils it will go out to about 28 inches, if you watch it again at the end you see that they changed the setting to the relic mode and on the recovery test the signal that you hear is in fact the signal from the Coin NOT the Nail.

    I have a MXT Pro. Does a great job int the woods fields and parks. Not good among the nails. That mx sport looks like a bounty hunter or a 1st texas with White's stamped on it. Wonder if they are farming out. I have to add if it is your first detector and you get a pro you will work your arms on a long hunt but if its down there it will find it. :)

      Hope I didn't offend but lots of companies do such things. I have been out with friends with bounty hunters and such. Taught me that with metal detectors you kind of get what you pay for. I recommend Whites to all the nice people who walk up and ask me about metal detecting. My pro has been dropped muddied and drug. It just keeps on finding the goods. (and the pull tabs bless them) Very glad to hear your gonna keep making great machines. :)

    • @WhitesElectronics1950
      @WhitesElectronics1950  8 лет назад

      +chasiu75 The DFX is still a decent machine, and one of the more popular ones we've made. Newer machines go deeper, faster, and are able to find smaller targets. It's just a matter of new technology having an edge over old. Some, like the MX Sport, are waterproof or have other features not available on older machines.

    • @mowerdog

      +craig talley It because of the frequency of the machine. The higher the freq the better on low and mid conductors. The lower the freq the better on high conductors as in the Quarter. It's running 14khz so it will be hotter on the nickel. This is good for hunting jewelry and lead bullets. But it's respectable on high conductors.
