schiphol airport is best in world, loads usb charging ports and plugs, that unlike normal airports actually work , love the security now at gates, yes you habe to go through security to get in gate now .

you are in transit area, unless u leave airport and transit . you are not in the country so no , you do not go anywhere near imigration, unless leaving or arriving airport

The gate is where you actually board your aircraft, transfer is coming in on one flight and departing on another.
