    FYI: not sure if this would have applied to Chemical Spore but if your subwoofers seem to be blown they may not be. One of mine had a cold solder connection where the voice coil wires solder onto the connector. Removing old solder, cleaning, and re-soldering brought the speaker back to life. Camaros and cold solder joints...ugh...amiright?

    • @darrenthompson427

      Turns out it's not so easy. My repair failed in short order. Seems once the solder connection fails it's hard to get back. I have tried again this time using some sanding to try to get back to some copper but these wires are fragile. If it fails again I will take an even more aggressive approach with a dremel and sanding wheel. If that fails I'll get some Kee Audio subs which should out perform the stock subs.

    I'm currently replacing speakers in my camero, but the speakers I ordered (I don't know anything about this stuff) don't have a high tones/low tones connector, I think they are just speakers without built-in tweeters. Would it be ok to just wire the lows of the factory harness to the new speakers and leave the highs dangling? Or do I absolutely need tweeters or a speaker with connectors for the high tones?

    • @bobdaduck7160
      @bobdaduck7160 3 года назад +2

      @@ModernMashups So to "do it right" I ended up just buying a 4 ohm amp and amp kit and bought a best buy membership ($200) which lets me have them do all the installation labor free.
      I read that with coaxial speakers if you identify the tweeter wires you could technically cut them and wire them to the highs and the main speaker to the lows
      other solution is to do an amp bypass where as I understand it you just grab the input and output wires to the amp, clip them, and sodder/clamp them together so that the highs and lows stay combined through only two sets of wires
      The ideal I guess would be to find 2 ohm component type speakers, which will be very straightforward wiring (but maybe less straightforward mounting)
      I don't remember ever quite figuring out if I could wire the stock highs and low +/- wires to the single coaxial +/- wires, but I am pretty sure it wouldn't work at this point because the signals are pre-split so they would join into the coaxial with overlapping signals rather than a joined/whole signal (I am making this up but it sounds right to me)

  • @nickolauswolf4465
    @nickolauswolf4465 Год назад

    is it important to wire the high frequency and low frequency wires separately to corresponding wires on speakers or can you combine each pos and neg and solder together to their terminals?

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  Год назад

      Think of the high and low frequency speakers as separate channels. You could cause damage to your stereo and speakers if you cross them all together.

    • @melvinbarrios36

      I tried exactly what you said; doesn’t work as you expect. The bass tones try to play through the tweeter in the middle of the aftermarket speaker. Not good. Did exactly as this guy said and you use factory connector and it works perfectly.

    • @chemicalspore
      @chemicalspore  3 года назад

      If you go to an aftermarket head unit the monsoon system will be inactive. You could do this for an aftermarket head unit for these sound to still activate through a speaker if you keep the stock harness. The sale panel and hatch speakers are regular two connection harness.

    • @manthis22
      @manthis22 3 года назад
