Omg live in the country the snow was over our kitchen window, couldn’t get out our doors dug our way out our neighbor across the street went into labor with twins, they snow mobiled her in to town, wow memories
I dont remember this storm but i do remember in July 1978 i climbed the Hollywood sign before it was restored only 3 months later on how it looks today and took all the original unbroken 1920s light bulbs i could find as a memento.
I was born in 1962 and I do remember it because it was so severe we had 24 inches of snow and my mom broke her ankle crossing the icy streets with laundry.
I remember it well, simple things like "Free Snow" signs showed up everywhere, my neighbor used his snowmobiles to help doctors and nurses get to the hospitals, they were on the job some for 12 to 18 hours because there was no relief for at least 4 days. I was told I needed to show up for work as a machine operator. I made it there and no one else showed, even the boss that called me. First time in my life I used the union to get pay rightly due to me for showing up, 3 days of pay. woo hoo!!! Luckily we had heat and water through out.
