Booker T one of the best wrestlers ever. He did it in wcw wwe tna and maybe we’ll see him pop up on a aew show to say he’s been on ever big stage of wrestling.
Booker trying to smoke up everyone's ass.... He didn't make it because he "was prepared for WWE" he made it in WWE because he had Stone Cold, JR, Eddie and Ron Simmons in his corner. In order to make it in the WWE in that time frame it's not how good you are it's who you know and who fights for you. during that time SCSA and Eddie was Vinces top talent, JR was the head of talent relations and Ronnie was one of Vince's most trusted boys......
Even Booker is confused about how he himself was used in WWE. He didn't make it. Compare WCW Booker (absolute top level champion and known as the peoples champion there) to the version of Booker we got in WWE, which was a clown that ALWAYS was inferior to whichever WWE home grown he was fed to at the time. Doesn't matter if SCSA and Booker were friendly in real life at one point in the past... SCSA was used to make Booker look like a stain on a pair of used underwear, and Booker happily took it. So what really happened was Booker was allowed to be a jobber for a longer period of time, and allowed to continue working for WWE in various roles that in no way reflect the legacy he built pre-WWE. THAT is was he got out of being friendly with some of the boys in WWE. THAT is not making it. That's being a jobber and being paid to not perform for other companies. I think Booker even owns a wrestling school (or promotion) now, and WWE won't even mention it on their TV because he's such a joke to them. Do you think Sting made it too in WWE? Was he also given a totally fair chance? lol The only WCW name that eventually sort of "made it" in ANY way at all, was Goldberg. Notice how you can find matches in WWE's vault of Goldberg actually beating big names instead of looking vastly inferior to them? Notice him destroying The Rock and Rock not even getting any type of revenge? Notice him winning the title, even with WWE crippling him (in storyline) a lot of the time? He was storyline injured a lot of his run against Evolution and still looked like a beast against the entire stable. Goldberg is the only one, and it's because he was smart.
Sting’s WWE run proves it all. Sting was the main WCW guy annd Anybody that knows about wrestling saw how WWE handled him so no they didn’t respect the WCW wrestlers that came over.
Vince is a fickle and petty individual as were guys that were previous WCW like Undertaker, Austin, or Jericho. They definitely treated guys there were considered "underdogs" in WCW a lot better like The Guerrero's, Saturn, Benoit, Mysterio, and even wanted to bring in guys like Ultimo Dragon. But established guys like Steiner or DDP never got a fair shake.
Just a heads up to Chris! Those of us who thumbs down this video are not doing it against you, we are doing so because of Booker's constant, out of this world BS and lies. We are tired of him lying and even going as far as to bury his own legacy the way he's done for years now, just so he can keep slurping on that WWE milk when it's feeding time.
Vince McMahon buried the WCW wrestlers because he wanted to make his product and wrestlers look superior. It’s that simple. Even before WCW was bought, McMahon had the Big Show take a Stone Cold Stunner on his first night on Raw. Even during the Invasion storyline most of the important characters on the Alliance side were WWE wrestlers like Stone Cold and Kurt Angle.
I grew up a WWF fan, watched the matches every Saturday morning. Occasionally I would watch WCW on Saturday evenings. I always made dream matches between WWF wrestlers and WCW wrestlers. And when WWF bought out WCW (which was fucking wild!) I couldn’t believe most of the matches I had dreamed about, where about to come true. However, as the months went on, many of those WCW vs WWF matches didn’t turn out so great. I felt like WWF used the WCW wrestlers the wrong way. A lot of the wrestlers from WCW seemed to be treated like a jobber.
One the few guys who had a stellar career in both WCW and WWE if it wasn't for Booker's Charisma and ring skills it would have had the same problems as DDP, Sting, Steiner, Hall and Nash
Personally I think his feud with Steve Austin after the Invasion storyline cemented him in the WWF. More than 20 years later the fight in the Supermarket still gets talked about.
The Summerslam match with the rock was one of the rock's best. Had wwe launched wcw a week later in Atlanta and not in the state of Washington...who knows
Wcw is way better than wwe on any given day they just didnt have financing right and letting people like hogan doing what he want over there which cause the downfall of wcw poor management and overspending thats it...wwe is a joke just they handle business better and talent does not have all this control like hogan.
the mid-card, upper-mid card guys and upper card guys were absolutely only brought in to be destroyed. DDP got dunked on. Buff was shown the door as soon as he got in. The only guys that WWE really wanted were the cruiserweights, so I do agree there were guys that would end up getting chances, but not everyone.
@@ChrisMS0815on the dark side episode supposedly the altercation with helms hurt him before the match took place or some bs. Helms was kept but not buff. I think buff would’ve been a decent midcard add for wwf if u let him be himself
I honestly don’t buy the comedy angles as being “tests from Vince”. There’s a certain ceiling that dark skinned black wrestlers couldn’t surpass while Vince was there. They may have won a championship, but there wouldn’t be a strong reign and they wouldn’t be allowed to be the FACE of the company. Many will point out The Rock but an uncomfortable truth is that he was light skinned and mixed, which was acceptable enough for Vince to let him surpass the ceiling. If he was dark skinned with that same electrifying talent, he would’ve been held back.
I will agree with Booker everyone had an opportunity the biggest issue was the roster in 2001 was absolutely stacked with talent. You had WWE, WCW, and ECW under one roof. So if Buff Bagwell or Mike Awesome doesn't get over or make an impression day one it's next man up. Let's see what that RVD can do what about that Chuck Palumbo guy. That's why Rey Mysterio sat out for a year because there were people that said if you come over now you may get lost in the shuffle. Hell WWE guys got lost in the shuffle Edge won the King of the Ring that year was he in the mainevent, hell no.
its funny to hear booker t say this cause for years WWE fans have used him as "WWE didnt try to burry WCW talents". well hes your example saying the opposite. also just cause you succeeded didnt mean they didnt "try".
Booker T was one of the highlights in the 2000's. Great wrestler and had a bucket ton of personality. Should have beaten HHH at Mania though, still salty about that..
I believe had Buff come in as the champion he’d have had a longer career and Booker wouldn’t have gotten over in WWE. They made an example out of Buff. Booker had a good attitude but he had an advantage others didn’t. The WCW Championship which gave him a couple months an a PPV main event to stick around.
I think WCW guys had to go over that initial "hazing" process to get the "WCW stink" off of them before Vince would let them become stars on their own in WWE. I mean, plenty of guys came from WCW prior to the buyout that were treated really well in the long run, like Jericho, Benoit and Eddie. I'd say Booker is the only one who came over with the buyout that was treated well, but it took him time to get there.
Booker HUMBLED himself and was willing to WORK !!! IT PAID OFF !!! When ur at the top and always think u belong there, u will be HUMBLED AGAIN. Till we learn !!!
The match with Buff that allegedly “killed” the WCW push was not that bad and about 60% of it was a run in featuring the WWF’s top talent including SCSA. Vince didn’t want WCW and he saw no value in it, even when it made him money with the multiple “death/best of” videos they have put out. The only thing Vince wanted was Hogan back and he turned him red and yellow as soon as he could.
Vince totally screwed DDP. DDP was SO over in WCW, but rather than letting him continue what he built, and what worked so well, they decided to change his character. The fans would have totally gotten behind DDP being DDP in WWE, but they didn't want him getting over in WWE. Vince was stupid in that way. It could have made WWE stronger, but rather than doing the smart thing he did the personal vendetta thing.
As much as a fan I am of Booker T, he is very much full of shit. Vince at the time had a vendetta with Time Warner and very much did took it out on the WCW talent, it had nothing to do with "proving their worth" considering the talent did drew an audience and garnered years of experience. Booker T is clearly being a company man which is whatever but don't you tell us that horseshit my guy.
totally correct. he works for them now & he's very much about the money, so he won't talk the company down today.
Was he also given a totally fair chance? lol
The only WCW name that eventually sort of "made it" in ANY way at all, was Goldberg. Goldberg is the only one, and it's because he was smart.
i remember the stories around booker "injuring" austin w that table bump. i thought he was done... so happy for him ❤
Sting’s WWE run proves it all.
We are tired of him lying and even going as far as to bury his own legacy the way he's done for years now, just so he can keep slurping on that WWE milk when it's feeding time.
booker T vs Austin at the supermarket was great TV!
Love the hair and beard combo
His low flat top when he was in harlem heat was his best look.
Booker T and the Undertaker have to be the most respected wrestlers ever. As they should be.
Booker T was definitely best ever , he’s in the top 5, 5x legend
Booker T would’ve sold a lot of merch now 🔥
Wcw is way better than wwe on any given day they just didnt have financing right and letting people like hogan doing what he want over there which cause the downfall of wcw poor management and overspending thats it...wwe is a joke just they handle business better and talent does not have all this control like hogan.
Come in Booker Bagwell had 1 match. Yeah you made more money but you also worked twice as hard
‘Everyone got a chance. Everyone got buried’
Chair shots talking there.
Buff got fired for one bad match, the same match Booker was apart of. He didn't get much of a chance after that.
the mid-card, upper-mid card guys and upper card guys were absolutely only brought in to be destroyed. DDP got dunked on. Buff was shown the door as soon as he got in. The only guys that WWE really wanted were the cruiserweights, so I do agree there were guys that would end up getting chances, but not everyone.
@@ProtomanButCallMeBlues DDP had no buisness being brought as a heel, especially not as a freaking stalker.
@@ChrisMS0815on the dark side episode supposedly the altercation with helms hurt him before the match took place or some bs. Helms was kept but not buff. I think buff would’ve been a decent midcard add for wwf if u let him be himself
DDP Diddy really get a chance imo, the way they did DDP was crazy, he shouldn't have even gone to wwe if that all they wanted to do..smh
Sting waited til 2014 and still proceeded to get buried 😂🤣
lol “they tried to bury everybody but everybody did get a chance!” 😂
That infamous Harlem heat promo aged well
To be fair Booker t was already in his late 30s when he came to Wwf/e. The timing was a bit weird.
"Everybody got a chance" "they buried everybody, but they got a chance"... huh? 😂
…..Booker always plays both sides..
Booker has a damaged mind, literally. I wouldn't be surprised if one day we hear about him doing something like Benoit did... no joke.
Booker is an absolute legend
Booker T was the Rock of WCW
He’s lying his ass off lol everyone that was from WCW got buried. The worst was probably Chris Kanyon, shit they even got Sting!!
The sale of WCW should have been looked into by the Securities and Exchange Commission
"They tried to bury me." ... and they did.
Booker T was one of the highlights in the 2000's. Great wrestler and had a bucket ton of personality. Should have beaten HHH at Mania though, still salty about that..
Lesson of the story ‘never assumed you are owed anything by anyone’ outwork everyone and you will end up where you are meant to be!
WCW WAS BETTER THEN WWF 96 TILL 2000
So the "secret" never think you are anything. Work your Ass off , become a Hall of famer.
Booker t rocks
That's why Booker is King
I believe had Buff come in as the champion he’d have had a longer career and Booker wouldn’t have gotten over in WWE. They made an example out of Buff. Booker had a good attitude but he had an advantage others didn’t. The WCW Championship which gave him a couple months an a PPV main event to stick around.
buff was rumored to be a bad professional and terrible locker room guy
Glad booker didn't get buried
I have those same Ones Chris!
Where did they give Buff the chance?
I think WCW guys had to go over that initial "hazing" process to get the "WCW stink" off of them before Vince would let them become stars on their own in WWE. I mean, plenty of guys came from WCW prior to the buyout that were treated really well in the long run, like Jericho, Benoit and Eddie. I'd say Booker is the only one who came over with the buyout that was treated well, but it took him time to get there.
get Sting to come on the show. i would like to see that interview
high respect!!!
They put all them guys out and let the crowd decide on who to keep.
I disagree with Book…A lot of the WCW guys didn’t get a fair chance!
Booker HUMBLED himself and was willing to WORK !!!
IT PAID OFF !!!
When ur at the top and always think u belong there, u will be HUMBLED AGAIN. Till we learn !!!
Booker t. Change his story every time he tells it😂
The match with Buff that allegedly “killed” the WCW push was not that bad and about 60% of it was a run in featuring the WWF’s top talent including SCSA. Vince didn’t want WCW and he saw no value in it, even when it made him money with the multiple “death/best of” videos they have put out. The only thing Vince wanted was Hogan back and he turned him red and yellow as soon as he could.
I know someone whose first dance at their wedding was to his theme musicn
I'm shocked booker being honest how they buried those WCW guys
Booker got them KILLMONGER 1000 LOCS
Vince totally screwed DDP. DDP was SO over in WCW, but rather than letting him continue what he built, and what worked so well, they decided to change his character. The fans would have totally gotten behind DDP being DDP in WWE, but they didn't want him getting over in WWE. Vince was stupid in that way. It could have made WWE stronger, but rather than doing the smart thing he did the personal vendetta thing.
I need to see booker with his old-school hair cut
I'm glad Lance Storm did well.....
He was boring…….
What they did to DDP I will never forgive wwe
Steiner got buried by HHH
"They gave everyone a chance" yeah just to be mediocre, just ask Diamond Dallas Page lol
"most guys had an opportunity" = total BS. & what was his? teaming with Goldust, getting Austin'd in a supermarket & then getting Sweet Chin'd out of the nWo. yeah; some legacy that is. 🤦🏾
@@FarookQais lmao that stuff is still talked about to this days. Wrestling is about creating moments and that supermarket brawl is still more memorable than hundreds and hundreds of fake fights for a belt
Buff had a chance he messed that up himself having his mom call Jim Ross lol
Yeah but thats a petty reason to fire someone and even if it's true Buff's mom could have called on her own without Buff knowing about it.
