Glad that booker’s legacy wasn’t just limited to his wcw tenure but he also created a legacy in his wwe career and was a decorated champion in both companies
plus, he was a damn great commentator
And TNA
Under a stupid King Booker gimmick.
ermmmmm because he was SCRIPTED to be so……
@@PChamileon97ermm…..no he wasn’t….
Booker had to earn it in WCW so he knew the process and the work it would take.
Yup. Worked his way up twice.
It's a strange feeling being able to hear the icons I watched as a child, tell the behind the scenes stories now that I'm nearly 40. I have a whole new appreciation for wrestling now though I don't really watch anymore.
I feel the same way now that I’m 32 i don’t watch anymore but watching all the behind the scenes stuff makes you appreciate it much more and all the time and work that gets put into putting on a good show
Exact same bro
I’m almost 40 too. Yup, appreciate what athletes went through a lot more now, and also don’t watch the current stuff 😂
Same brother

I've only seen a couple of clips from this interview, but Booker T just seems like a real authentic, genuine guy.
He really is
Booker T should have been in the main event in WCW sooner than he did. He was ready.
He was ready however he was not cracking the main event scene with Hogan hogging the spotlight.

All those WCW guys that came over got buried, and even though Booker T still had success there were several moments where he got buried.

Let's not forget how Book got beat TF out of in that grocery store and chased thru a bingo hall. Funny material but goofy stuff.
Sting said it back then....
Booker T got into fight with batista behind scenes off camera💯back when he in wwe
DDP got it pretty bad, they turned the WCW franchise into a jobber/low carder

While Booker had the talent, he had to eat alot of shit when he first got to WWE, because as soon as the Invasion was over, they stuck him in the midcard to do comedy angles. Tho I kinda feel that was Vince testing Booker to see if he was a team player and could be trusted.
Sting for sure came to WWE but it was 13 years after WCW ended, result he got screwed by Vince and Hunter, don’t forget his dream match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31 was originally scheduled.
Taker didn't care for him. Never understood why, but had Taker really been for that Match like Sting was it would have happened. I think Taker was likely pissed since Sting blew his chance around WM 27!

Regardless of star power, new ppl going in will always be looked at as an outsider. That goes beyond WWE. Dont be cocky nor take anything for granted. Be humble and earn your way.
That's why Sting refused to sign for 15 years and when he did, Vince buried him
It's truly sad that even Sting fell victim to WWE's BS eventually. He almost made it his entire legendary career without that blemish, but somehow he got suckered in so he could look inferior to HHH and then as if that wasn't enough, made to look inferior to Seth Rollins while also being injured by Seth's constant botches nobody ever does anything about or mentions.
@@The_Insanity_Plex well sting wasnt buried he had a high profile program leading to WM as the fanfavorite. Sure him not winning was a downer finish but he wasnt dragged and tossed out in live tv.
i wouldnt say sting got buried, but it could have been better
And they made him lose to Hunter of all people.
@@JstBobby They also clearly had alot more planned with sting until Seth's bucklebomb retired him prematurely.

Booker T is one of the very few WCW talents that didn't get treated badly (with the exception of Mania 19)
How could you bury someone on the biggest stage of them all? If they wanted Book buried he would not have made it there.
@@QualityEJC lol look up his program with HHH and see
@@InvisibleHotdog i know all of H and Book and the racial storyline. H was built as the privileged man while Book was built on struggle. Book losing at mania only made him more likable. It's no different than Cody when his story wasn't finished. It has nothing to do with buring.
Most of the WCW guys didn't have the talent that Booker had.
Booker T took a lot of crap by Rock, Austin and others.
Unfortunately, when Sting finally came to WWE, Steve learned why he should've not signed to WWE (Right, Hunter and Seth?).
Booker had to eat some shit sandwiches along the way but he ended up striving.
That match wasn't even a bad match. There was way worse matches on that card.. how can you expect guys to succeed when you've trained your fans for a decade to hate them.. when your company is trying to make them look bad on purpose to put their own guys over.. it's just goes to show how amazing Booker t really was to overcome all of that and still become the legend he became within the WWE.
Booker was different he was talented af and wasn’t a 1 trick pony
LOL gulp gulp, right? Gulp it all down and politely ask for more, like a good little boy.

Booker said he got paid good from being in wm 19 so he has no complaints.
I did a video about this: the way the WCW talent were treated was absolutely shameful.
Buff’s sacking and Jarett’s public firing epitomised Vince’s dictatorship power in the industry. It was his way or the highway.
How can they get a chance when they're getting buried at the same time. Bookers always been a company man.
Because you need to have brains to get over. If you aint able to make chicken salad out of chickenshit then you aint gonna make it. They would try to bury every WCW guy but they werent actively holding them back.
Because it’s a test by Vince to see how talented you really are, to go thru adversity and throw away any prior star power you think you had and start from scratch rebuilding your character. Not saying I agree with his methods but there is a rhyme and a reason to what he did.
Because starting from 0 doesn't mean that you have 0 chance.
I think Booker meant that they had a chance to make it in spite of being buried. Basically to show them up.
@@_NutcasE_Every single one of them had already made it. They were all stars and WWE buried them.
I completely disagree with what Booker T is saying he’s painting the narrative as if WCW guys were arrogant and didn’t wanna work for it when the truth was their contracts with Time Warner is the reason why they didn’t initially go over to the WWE it wasn’t because they couldn’t hang it wasn’t because they were lazy. It wasn’t because, they weren’t talented. It was because they were making so much money and knowing that if they went to the WWE they weren’t going to get paid the same.

Not everybody got a chance. Booker is obviously watching what he says since he's still working for the company. Diamond Dallas Page deserved a much better introduction to the WWF. Booker t. Change his story every time he tells it😂
I will agree with Booker everyone had an opportunity the biggest issue was the roster in 2001 was absolutely stacked with talent. You had WWE, WCW, and ECW under one roof. So if Buff Bagwell or Mike Awesome doesn't get over or make an impression day one it's next man up. Let's see what that RVD can do what about that Chuck Palumbo guy. That's why Rey Mysterio sat out for a year because there were people that said if you come over now you may get lost in the shuffle. Hell WWE guys got lost in the shuffle Edge won the King of the Ring that year was he in the mainevent, hell no.
Booker is an absolute legend
So the "secret" never think you are anything. Work your Ass off , become a Hall of famer.
Booker t rocks
A lot of ex WCW names actually got treated very well in WWE.
The only ones that didn’t were DDP, Buff Bagwell, and Scott Steiner.
Bagwell got heat from the locker room immediately and they quickly sent him packing.
DDP was a strange one, don’t know what happened there.
Steiner hated his second WWE run from 2002 to 2004, he was booked as a babyface and Steiner has said many times he HATES being a babyface. Steiner still holds a grudge against Hunter as he felt Hunter sabotaged him by politicking to Vince to book Steiner as a babyface.
From what I understand the stanker was weird creative idea that sort of fell apart.
The put ddp in last minute as the Stalker as a rib
Something happened, he got heat with taker
Rib plus heat turned into a full in ring burial, with Michelle pinning him.
The whole Stalker angle was a bad idea and worse execution.
There was unconfirmed speculation hat makes sense... Vinny just didn't see him as a viable draw, so he gave ddp, dog sh t and waited to see what would happen... lots of examples of bad Vinny rib ideas panning out to varying degrees, stardust, gold dust, doink, funk a saurus... of course we also have the Albert/atrain/tensi of Vinny ideas.
SCOTT WAS WITH WWF
@@ektran4205 yes but only for a cup of coffee in 1993, before his main run from 2002 to 2004. Steiner is a WCW guy.
It's seemed to me like the guys who left WCW before they were bought out, like Jericho, Big Show, Eddie, Benoit, etc. They did much better. Those that waited, aside from Booker or Rey (Maybe others I'm forgetting), they didn't last long
@@patrickroden4481 Booker got kept as a jobber and later for other various duties that don't call back to him being a top level star. He didn't last either, in any sense of success compared to what he was pre-WWE. He still happily buries himself even to this day so he can keep slurping that milk from the WWE nip.
Booker trying to smoke up everyone's ass.... He didn't make it because he "was prepared for WWE" he made it in WWE because he had Stone Cold, JR, Eddie and Ron Simmons in his corner. In order to make it in the WWE in that time frame it's not how good you are it's who you know and who fights for you. during that time SCSA and Eddie was Vinces top talent, JR was the head of talent relations and Ronnie was one of Vince's most trusted boys......
Even Booker is confused about how he himself was used in WWE. He didn't make it. Compare WCW Booker (absolute top level champion and known as the peoples champion there) to the version of Booker we got in WWE, which was a clown that ALWAYS was inferior to whichever WWE home grown he was fed to at the time. Doesn't matter if SCSA and Booker were friendly in real life at one point in the past... SCSA was used to make Booker look like a stain on a pair of used underwear, and Booker happily took it.
So what really happened was Booker was allowed to be a jobber for a longer period of time, and allowed to continue working for WWE in various roles that in no way reflect the legacy he built pre-WWE. THAT is was he got out of being friendly with some of the boys in WWE. THAT is not making it. That's being a jobber and being paid to not perform for other companies. I think Booker even owns a wrestling school (or promotion) now, and WWE won't even mention it on their TV because he's such a joke to them.
Do you think Sting made it too in WWE? Was he also given a totally fair chance? lol
The only WCW name that eventually sort of "made it" in ANY way at all, was Goldberg. Notice how you can find matches in WWE's vault of Goldberg actually beating big names instead of looking vastly inferior to them? Notice him destroying The Rock and Rock not even getting any type of revenge? Notice him winning the title, even with WWE crippling him (in storyline) a lot of the time? He was storyline injured a lot of his run against Evolution and still looked like a beast against the entire stable. Goldberg is the only one, and it's because he was smart.
Thanks
I think WCW guys had to go over that initial "hazing" process to get the "WCW stink" off of them before Vince would let them become stars on their own in WWE. I mean, plenty of guys came from WCW prior to the buyout that were treated really well in the long run, like Jericho, Benoit and Eddie. I'd say Booker is the only one who came over with the buyout that was treated well, but it took him time to get there.
get Sting to come on the show. i would like to see that interview
Go Booker t
I can dig that
I'm glad Lance Storm did well.....
Booker T was one of the highlights in the 2000's. Great wrestler and had a bucket ton of personality. Should have beaten HHH at Mania though, still salty about that..
To be fair Booker t was already in his late 30s when he came to Wwf/e. The timing was a bit weird.
The sale of WCW should have been looked into by the Securities and Exchange Commission

Booker got them KILLMONGER 1000 LOCS
They put all them guys out and let the crowd decide on who to keep.
I believe had Buff come in as the champion he’d have had a longer career and Booker wouldn’t have gotten over in WWE. They made an example out of Buff. Booker had a good attitude but he had an advantage others didn’t. The WCW Championship which gave him a couple months an a PPV main event to stick around.
buff was rumored to be a bad professional and terrible locker room guy
Not everyone from WCW that came over got buried. Jericho, Big Show and the radicalz(malenko, Saturn, Benoit and Guerrero) all got pushes
Where did they give Buff the chance?
So do we believe taker or booker? Was it a fair shake for the WCW roster?
DDP Diddy really get a chance imo, the way they did DDP was crazy, he shouldn't have even gone to wwe if that all they wanted to do..smh
Buff had a chance he messed that up himself having his mom call Jim Ross lol
Yeah but thats a petty reason to fire someone and even if it's true Buff's mom could have called on her own without Buff knowing about it.
its funny to hear booker t say this cause for years WWE fans have used him as "WWE didnt try to burry WCW talents". well hes your example saying the opposite. also just cause you succeeded didnt mean they didnt "try".
Back then in WWF if you were new and not a WWF guy originally you were have to be prepared to eat a lot of their shit before they realise that you’re a money maker
Just a heads up to Chris! Those of us who thumbs down this video are not doing it against you, we are doing so because of Booker's constant, out of this world BS and lies. We are tired of him lying and even going as far as to bury his own legacy the way he's done for years now, just so he can keep slurping on that WWE milk when it's feeding time.
Sting’s WWE run proves it all. Sting was the main WCW guy annd Anybody that knows about wrestling saw how WWE handled him so no they didn’t respect the WCW wrestlers that came over.
Vince is a fickle and petty individual as were guys that were previous WCW like Undertaker, Austin, or Jericho. They definitely treated guys there were considered "underdogs" in WCW a lot better like The Guerrero's, Saturn, Benoit, Mysterio, and even wanted to bring in guys like Ultimo Dragon. But established guys like Steiner or DDP never got a fair shake.
WCW WAS BETTER THEN WWF 96 TILL 2000
DDP.
I feel that's the biggest glaring example of a snub in the company. Before the WCW guys like Booker T, Eddie, and Benoit were properly capitalized on, the multi-time world champion had already been buried - starting with a questionable storyline for his character - and retired due to an injury.
A true missed opportunity to build up a People's Champ vs. People's Champ match with The Rock.
wcw didn't use mark paul and glenn
I never understood why they chose Buff. Now we know.
I don’t like how they did diamond Dallas page at all
DDP was injury prone in wwe
@@ektran4205perhaps but the character they gave him was insulting
Iv heard a few buff shoots about his brief WWF run and I can see why they dropped him. Booker took his lower pay check, didn’t complain and knew if he proved himself he would rise up the ladder and be back to making big money again. Buff Bagwell instead complained he would have to sell his motorbike and a few of his cars. Straight away he showed a bad work ethic with Vince and his main event match was terrible. Its sad but even in recent interviews Buff cant see why he was let go.
juvi would have been lit
How did DDP not have a run in wwe? He had everything
Because 1. He was a WCW guy, 2. He was given no favours being made a stalker of the wife of the Locker Room Leader, 3. He buried himself post-Invasion with the "Self Help" gimmick
@@MJFisAnOverratedBagelhe was also alot older too
@@Brian00007 That too but anyone with half a brain back then, that had no pre-set bitterness towards WCW and was not named Vince McMahon would have done something prominent with DDP regardless, at least up to WM18.

"eatin' big schteak"
Undertaker/Mark begs to differ with you, Book.
The match with Buff that allegedly “killed” the WCW push was not that bad and about 60% of it was a run in featuring the WWF’s top talent including SCSA. Vince didn’t want WCW and he saw no value in it, even when it made him money with the multiple “death/best of” videos they have put out. The only thing Vince wanted was Hogan back and he turned him red and yellow as soon as he could.
Wcw is way better than wwe on any given day they just didnt have financing right and letting people like hogan doing what he want over there which cause the downfall of wcw poor management and overspending thats it...wwe is a joke just they handle business better and talent does not have all this control like hogan.
"They gave everyone a chance" yeah just to be mediocre, just ask Diamond Dallas Page lol
It's called spite.
Booker T knew how to sell himself. His catchphrase was bigger than his wrestling ( he was a great wrestler) but everybody was saying 5 times 5 times 5 times WCW champion sold him. I’m not sure how he became 5 time champion to be honest but it worked lol
