So if Buff Bagwell or Mike Awesome doesn't get over or make an impression day one it's next man up. Let's see what that RVD can do what about that Chuck Palumbo guy. That's why Rey Mysterio sat out for a year because there were people that said if you come over now you may get lost in the shuffle. The only ones that didn’t were DDP, Buff Bagwell, and Scott Steiner.
Bagwell got heat from the locker room immediately and they quickly sent him packing.
DDP was a strange one, don’t know what happened there.
Steiner hated his second WWE run from 2002 to 2004, he was booked as a babyface and Steiner has said many times he HATES being a babyface. Steiner still holds a grudge against Hunter as he felt Hunter sabotaged him by politicking to Vince to book Steiner as a babyface.

The put ddp in last minute as the Stalker as a rib
Something happened, he got heat with taker
Rib plus heat turned into a full in ring burial, with Michelle pinning him.
The whole Stalker angle was a bad idea and worse execution.
There was unconfirmed speculation hat makes sense... Vinny just didn't see him as a viable draw, so he gave ddp, dog sh t and waited to see what would happen... lots of examples of bad Vinny rib ideas panning out to varying degrees, stardust, gold dust, doink, funk a saurus... of course we also have the Albert/atrain/tensi of Vinny ideas.

Booker trying to smoke up everyone's ass.... He didn't make it because he "was prepared for WWE" he made it in WWE because he had Stone Cold, JR, Eddie and Ron Simmons in his corner. In order to make it in the WWE in that time frame it's not how good you are it's who you know and who fights for you. during that time SCSA and Eddie was Vinces top talent, JR was the head of talent relations and Ronnie was one of Vince's most trusted boys......

    • @The_Insanity_Plex
      @The_Insanity_Plex 25 дней назад +2

Even Booker is confused about how he himself was used in WWE. He didn't make it. Compare WCW Booker (absolute top level champion and known as the peoples champion there) to the version of Booker we got in WWE, which was a clown that ALWAYS was inferior to whichever WWE home grown he was fed to at the time. Doesn't matter if SCSA and Booker were friendly in real life at one point in the past... SCSA was used to make Booker look like a stain on a pair of used underwear, and Booker happily took it.
So what really happened was Booker was allowed to be a jobber for a longer period of time, and allowed to continue working for WWE in various roles that in no way reflect the legacy he built pre-WWE. THAT is was he got out of being friendly with some of the boys in WWE. THAT is not making it. That's being a jobber and being paid to not perform for other companies. I think Booker even owns a wrestling school (or promotion) now, and WWE won't even mention it on their TV because he's such a joke to them.
Do you think Sting made it too in WWE? Was he also given a totally fair chance? lol
The only WCW name that eventually sort of "made it" in ANY way at all, was Goldberg. Notice how you can find matches in WWE's vault of Goldberg actually beating big names instead of looking vastly inferior to them? Notice him destroying The Rock and Rock not even getting any type of revenge? Notice him winning the title, even with WWE crippling him (in storyline) a lot of the time? He was storyline injured a lot of his run against Evolution and still looked like a beast against the entire stable. Goldberg is the only one, and it's because he was smart.

I think WCW guys had to go over that initial "hazing" process to get the "WCW stink" off of them before Vince would let them become stars on their own in WWE. I mean, plenty of guys came from WCW prior to the buyout that were treated really well in the long run, like Jericho, Benoit and Eddie. I'd say Booker is the only one who came over with the buyout that was treated well, but it took him time to get there.

I feel that's the biggest glaring example of a snub in the company. Before the WCW guys like Booker T, Eddie, and Benoit were properly capitalized on, the multi-time world champion had already been buried - starting with a questionable storyline for his character - and retired due to an injury.
A true missed opportunity to build up a People's Champ vs. People's Champ match with The Rock.

Booker took his lower pay check, didn’t complain and knew if he proved himself he would rise up the ladder and be back to making big money again. Buff Bagwell instead complained he would have to sell his motorbike and a few of his cars. Straight away he showed a bad work ethic with Vince and his main event match was terrible. Its sad but even in recent interviews Buff cant see why he was let go.

The match with Buff that allegedly “killed” the WCW push was not that bad and about 60% of it was a run in featuring the WWF’s top talent including SCSA. Vince didn’t want WCW and he saw no value in it, even when it made him money with the multiple “death/best of” videos they have put out. The only thing Vince wanted was Hogan back and he turned him red and yellow as soon as he could.
